quote:
Age is funny. I went out a little with one guy who was 39. (I'm almost--Hey! ALMOST!--43.) He was, to put it politely, an old poop. I went out several times with a man who was 52, and he was MUCH younger and funner. However, in the end, that one kind of fizzled simply because we are in such different life stages. He needed someone who could fly off to Jakarta with him for work next week, I need someone who can watch the 8&Under coach-pitch league playoff tournament this weekend. So I won't say age is a deal-breaker, but I won't say it doesn't matter, either. It's a consideration. Also, while there's not a lot of difference in lifestyles between a forty-almost-three-year-old and a 52-yr-old, the difference between a 62-yr-old and a 72-yr-old is definitely something to think about. I hope to still be running marathons at 62. At 72, I dunno... This is the post that prompted the thread, but as I said, I had been thinking about it off and on for a few years - and it actually began again during the GT. So, I guess - maybe it'd be lifestyle and if we think "young" or "older". Does that make sense? For me, I am 47. Most everyone who meets and interacts with me thinks I'm in my early 30's. Is it all about looks? I don't think so. In reality, before I turned 24, I was always taken as being older than my age, and when I turned 24, I said that I caught up chronologically to where I had always felt mentally, and that I wasn't going to move beyond that age. And since 24, I've always been taken as younger than my age. However, I certainly have the mentality of a 24 year old. As I've aged, the "mentality" has moved up, but it's not my current age. Does that help? I know that I have met people my age or maybe a year or two older, and upon first meeting them, I thought they were in the middle 50's! I was shocked to find they were near my age. *He* married one of them. I'm just curious if others have had this same thing in their life - if they feel like a different age than the calender says they are in reality.
