RubySparkles -> Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 4:38:18 PM)

What's nice about you? What do you have to offer your husband/wife? I don't mean stuff like you make a great pot roast or you tell great jokes. What is special about you?

shemaromans -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 4:56:29 PM)

Despite my weak areas, I have a huge capacity to love unconditionally. I'm also incredibly loyal, almost to a fault. It will definitely take God's hand and leading to convince me to open up and commit to my future husband, but once I do he'll be blessed with a wife that will love and support him greater than he could ever imagine.

coinpurse -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 5:18:43 PM)

Ha! making great pot roast and having the ability to tell great jokes would make anyone an asset! :)

Great question...I honestly can't think of any reason right now. Im disillusioned...deluded. Less honest people, much less loyal people find love...and Im still empty handed (of course Ive got God)

...Im thinking someone would marry be because they really really like me. Are most comfortable in my presence and feel that they can get through life really good w/me on their team. Im also guessing because they "get me" and enjoy what they see.

Seriously, Im so misunderstood (Arent we all?). I dont think anyone would see/understand my level of loyalty and strength until well after marriage...

Why would anyone marry me? I don't know, nobody has yet! [;)]

But I think I am a good listener, am very loyal, and an encouraging person.

I like the question, but, I don't like this limitation. Why can we not share ANY aspect of what we thing our good assets are?

Anyway, I would say that I am loyal, would keep a good house, and I love children. Kids have always been my favorite things (except on the couple of occasions when I got burnt out from working with them SO much, and then I took the necessary break).

Prairiehiker -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 7:21:53 PM)

Because I think I will be a good partner in a lot of things....from hiking, climbing, finance, management, household management, sex, work out buddy, restaurant buddy, travel, etc. LOL.... In other words, I think I'll be a good companion to someone who's as active as me.

I think why anyone would marry me is because we click in every way and that we like being around each other. It's not about a lot of my qualities, because if you look at people, we all have pretty much the same qualities as in kindness, and compassion, humility, etc, etc. We choose people to marry for the attraction and the admiration we feel for them.

Pauley464 -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 7:42:24 PM)

I like to listen. How many men do you know that enjoy just sitting down somewhere and listening to his woman talk?

I am capable of deep and intense love.

I am also capable of loyalty that is equally deep and intense.

I put the ones I love before myself.

I'm also a darned good cook.

Faith is a Great factor to me. I am a person of faith and I expect it of all around me, not in terms of someone who goes to church; but in terms of good kind and genuine conduct. I demand this in all of my friends of both genders.

ShallbeRebuilt -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 7:45:50 PM)

The short answer is that the person who marries me will do so because God has called us to be together.

But frankly, I have a lot to offer! It's true I have a body that is older and wiser, has made 4 babies and suffered some--it doesn't look as good as it used to and is quite fluffy. I guess that goes for my face, too.

But my mind and my soul are a LOT more interesting than they used to be. God has added wisdom and strength to me over the years. I'm also a lot of fun (right GT-ers???). I have many years experience being a good wife in every possible way...no need to train me up--I've already btdt. If my ddh was here, you could ask him for a recommendation...but then, I wouldn't need one if he were here, eh?[;)]

In fact, in my own mind, I'm a better person when I'm married than alone. I keep telling God that, but He apparently doesn't agree.[:(]

I've learned a lot over the years and become interested in many, many things. I think this makes me a deeper, more complex and intriguing person as well as more flexible and adaptable.

I'm a very good listener. I'm a great cook. I'm a wonderful mother to my own children (at least that's what they and others who know me say) and love "adopting" other kids. I love openly and generously. I love to laugh.

Heck. What's not to love?

I'm a good listener, nice guy, creative, very loyal, healthy, have solid faith, and relatively easy on the eyes. (from what I've been told)

Intense loyalty. Guess that's kinda special these days.

Because they see in me what the Lord sees.
Before my three little neices came into my life I had a resume, long and well documented, stating my ability to be a wonderful aunt.......yet the things listed don't come close to the things I have learned along the way......and the aunt I am today looks far different then the role I saw myself playing.........Living life together, loving one another, serving one another shapes you as you walk together through life.

Before I would have been able to tell you why I would be a good aunt. Even though those things played out to be true in my relationship with the girls.......being an aunt to them is so much more.......so much more then I could have ever imagined.

I never realized I was capable of such love......I did not know the extent to which I would lay down my life for them........I knew I could give to them but I never knew how much them giving to me would change me........

I would have told you all the things I would do with them because they would enjoy it but I would never have imagined I would do things with them more for my sake then theirs......

Before they came into my life I saw being an aunt through my eyes........after they became a part of my life I saw being an aunt through their eyes.

The same is true with taking care of my father. Before he became ill I might have been able to tell you why I would make a good choice to care for him during his last years.......but serving him brought out a part of me I did not know existed.......cleaning and bandages his wounds enriched my life.........listening to his heart grew my heart.

My point.........I could give you a list of the reasons I think someone would want to marry me......but until a gentleman sees me through God's eyes and ask for my hand in marriage the reasons he should marry me will only be surface, based on who I am without him in my life, and prayerfully not close to the answer he will give as to the real reason he married me after a lifetime together.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 11:22:03 PM)

This is soooo not the question to ask someone with VERY low self esteem...LOLOLOL

So lets see....

I would like to hope that someone would want to marry me because he sees something different in me, and he knows that I am a God fearing woman doing her best to raise her children to love the Lord. I don't see a lot of good qualities in myself so to say I'm sweet, or even tempered, or compassionate would probably be a lie. [8D]

But as outgoing and loud as I am and as headstrong as I can be, I am truly a woman of God and know quite well the meaning of the word 'submission'. I am willing to submit to my husband after I submit to God and learn from him as much as he learns from me.

Not to mention I have two GREAT boys that would welcome any strong Christian man into our family. [;)]

epic74 -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 11:36:53 PM)

Because I have a desire to be a man of God? I hope somebody out there sees that as a good thing.

cammo2006 -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/14/2008 11:49:50 PM)

Can't put my finger on it, but I'm sure there's something.

Not that I think that I'm anywhere near ready to be married yet.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Why would anyone marry you? (6/15/2008 12:16:26 AM)

I think because I am witty (in a dry wit sort of way), a good sense of humor, a good listener, compassionate, romantic in theory, thoughtful. Also, I think that I would be good with the mechanics of handling a relationship in theory as well.

Tinkerbell: I have to say that after I posted my own thoughts above, I wanted to add something like what you've said above.

I want to follow God as hard as I can. I don't, always, obviously. But I have a passion for Him and His work here. I have callings in my life that are driven by Him--I don't know if those callings would change should God bring me together with someone: if not, then I trust He would make sure our callings dovetailed somehow. In addition, I too understand submission and would delight to be brought together with a man under whom I could serve.

I'm not perfect, by any means. But I know I have a lot to offer.

And Tink: you do, too. You are a warm, funny person, besides your strength.

This is interesting. I was feeling the same way when I asked the question. That's pretty much where I am too right now. I couldn't even tell you what God sees in me. Maybe someone else will. I'm glad there are so many positive answers out there. I can cook though. And some people think I'm funny ...
