What movie or movies scared you when you saw it?

Dragonnie -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 4:03:11 AM)

the ring had 1 scary part, when a weird girl came out of the tv and attacked a man. Gaslight was a nice thriller. don't know any scary movies. seen some scary real-life video.

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 4:35:52 AM)

Childs Play.

First "scary" movie I had ever seen growing up. After watching the movie, I proceeded to lock up all the stuffed animals I had, just in case.

And any other movie that involves Lindsay Lohan.

Many a year ago, I remember seeing a movie at the theatre called "Screams of a Winter Night." Seemed like it had me spooked for week or so afterward.

PHmosh1 -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 7:48:17 AM)

Event Horizon

I thought it was just going to be a cool sci-fi movie. Little did I know it would be a creepy horror flick. Good movie, though. I own it now.

jodavi -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 8:13:57 AM)

The Grudge, The Others with Nicole Kidman and What Lies Beneath with with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer. I don't like gore movies to scare me. I like the traditional walking in the dark with scary music to build the intensity and by that time I'm either holding my hubby's arms or have my eyes closed.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 8:27:59 AM)

Stephen King's "IT". Didn't help with my fear of clowns any. [8|]

fluffmonkey -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 10:12:33 AM)

I have always heard "IT" was scary movie but i watched and it was rather not at all... although the book describes things and imagenation makes it scary lol

The ring was interesting...and the grugde was less scarier then the ring...

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 10:38:49 AM)

The fear of clowns is what made the movie scarier. If it had been just a normal man, I know I wouldn't have been as scared.

eaglelady11 -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 1:43:48 PM)

The Sixth Sense and Stephen King's It.

The Sixth Sense, because I saw ti at night, and I kept flinching when I got home swearing I was surrounded by dead people.

IT, I hate clowns and Tim curry made a maniacal one.

redeemedsaint -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 2:43:50 PM)

Any of those slice em dice em movies. They have no plot whatsoever and they are pretty scary to look at even in the commercials.

uncabeeil -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 3:40:17 PM)

I haven't been scared by a movie since I was a kid. Back then it was movies about giant bugs that mostly scared me. "Them", about giant ants, "Tarantula", about a giant spider, they scared me. The Omen made me a little jumpy, mainly because the theater exit let out to a dark alley, and when I left three rotweillers came trotting around the corner. Nowadays I know it's all fake, so it doesn't bother me. You really wanna get scared? Read a Joel Rosenberg book, especially Dead Heat. that'll scare the snot outta you!

I was constantly terrified by movies and tv shows as a kid - Hitchcock and Serling in particular could get me going.

As an adult, I hate suspense. I don't know why, but well done suspense drives me crazy - I jump all over furniture and pound on things.

Only two movies have 'scared' me in recent years, those being The Sixth Sense, and The Ring.

ladyichigo -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 5:50:25 PM)

"Arachnaphobia"

I couldn't finish watching it. It just gave me the heebie jeebies.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/12/2008 10:24:12 PM)

Goodness, I'm such a wuss. Haha!

I saw Jurassic Park when I was 11, I think. And it scared the heck out of me.

Even now, I still can't watch that movie for the nightmares it gave me. And I typically can't watch scary-ish movies before bedtime anyhows.

sunshine4God -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 12:25:47 AM)

You all are going to think I'm a total wimp but the movie that really scares me is "The passion of the Christ". I love that it shows how much Jesus loves us but all the bloody lashings make me cringe.I cannot watch that movie by myself. It gives me the creeps.

everythingat -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 2:35:17 AM)

sunshine4God, in your defense...those demon children chasing Judas were a little creepy. Admittedly, I laughed out loud when I saw them, it was a bit ridiculous.

Puppets give me the creeps. Not Muppets. I like them. Tourist Trap was sort of a joke, but those mannequins were very creepy. And I hate that ventriloquist dummy Corky in Magic. It's not a horror film, but Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles disturbed me. Scary puppets and the dark side of the 80's...too much. Dario Argento used to be effectively scary. The deformed child at the end of Phenomena, and pretty much all of Suspiria. Oh, I hated the ending of Don't Look Now, when the scary dwarfish creature came in. It was a brilliant movie, and I love it...but that scary dwarfish woman...eek. Movies don't particularly scare me, but they can disturb me. Mostly the ideas behind them, more so than the execution in the film. The helplessness of dreaming in the original Nightmare on Elm Street, the unfamiliar terror in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Good times.

The House on Haunted Hill (not to be confused with The Haunting)

Boy oh boy did that movie scare me for a while! The creep psychologist/Dr guy ..... *shudder*

It turned me off of scary movies almost permanently.

cinwood -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 10:48:51 AM)

Skeleton Key is a great creepy movie.

The Ring is my pick for scariest of all time.

The Others was good, too, for creepiness.

There was one from the 70's called "Let's Scare Jessica to Death". Stupid name, scary movie. Another oldie is "The Changling" - I couldn't sleep for weeks...

jodavi -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 11:03:59 AM)

I thought of a couple more
One Dark Night with Meg Tilly- it was this sorority girls and they left her in a mausoleum one night and things happened that night. I get the creeps, even now, going to mausoleums.
Ghost Story- with Fred Astaire & Douglas Fairbanks- I believe this was their last movie. It's this group of seniors who shared a secret of what they did when they were young and pretty much they were haunted on what they did.

I remember watching that movie-- that's the one with the wheelchair, right?

1love1God1way -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 12:35:23 PM)

"Carrie" could possibly be the creepiest movie ever made.

The only other one I can think of is Amityville Horror.

cinwood -> RE: Movies That Scare You (6/13/2008 3:14:04 PM)

Yes, Jodavi, it's the one with the child's old wheelchair. George C. Scott starred, and the red ball kept coming back and bouncing down the stairs...

I'm with ya on this one, Sunshine. I went with my dad to see that movie in the theater, but had to leave half way through because the blood was too much for me.
