I cant believe it took this long! When Jessica was a baby and her teeth were first coming in she would fall and chip a tooth. I told her pediatrician but he thought she would be OK until her adult teeth came in. It was this past winter that I was playing with her. I had her in my lap and she swung upside down when I tickled her. Her mouth was open wide. I was so shocked to see the back of her two front teeth were black. From the front they look normal. I took her to the regular dentist but she cried way too much for him so he said he would not do anything for her. So I had to go with a specialist. The one with openings right away wanted almost 2,000 dollars so I had to wait for the one on insurance. She had her first appointment last week. It was horrible. She screamed mommy help me when the dentist was counting her teeth. I saw a huge difference in how the dentist reacted. They sang songs to her but were totally unaffected by her screams. Thankfully she does not kick, bite or hit she just cries. They said she would need to be taken to the OR and put under anesthesia for the dental work. They said I could not go back with her so I was thinking that this was going to be a super long month. I was going to spend the entire time worrying that a nurse was going to come out and pry her fingers off of me and take her back while she screamed for me to help her. What made it worse was I was totally stuck. I cannot say never mind since her teeth needed to be fixed. Well they called yesterday and said they had a cancellation did I want the appointment slot for Thursday. I jumped on it since I could just get it done and over with. It was actually the head nurse that called me. I asked her if they would give her anything before taking her back. She said one doctor does but the rest don't. She then said I have kids and I think I know what you are scared of so I will tell you how we do things. The nurses that will take Jessica back will come and play with her to get her comfortable with them. They have tons of toys there. They then will ask her if she wants to blow up some balloons. They will then give her the mask that will actually be the gas that will put her to sleep and tell her to blow up the balloon. She will be asleep in about 15 seconds. I cant tell you how relieved I am. My fears of this being a totally traumatic experience for Jessica are totally gone. I am going to have more of a problem of Jessica wanting to go back.

When is her surgery? I'm glad they have a procedure you're comfortable with and hopefully she will be to! I have one child with awful teeth too, even though the others are all fine so we know it's not lack of hygiene, KWIM? He never had to have surgery, but he has had nitrous several times. He does great with that, so that's what we stick with.

She is getting it all done the day after tomorrow. (Thursday}
