I apologize if it was me. I was discussing immigration, and someone brought up my stance on abortion (don't know why it had anything to do with the discussion), when we were not even discussing that.

I mentioned it because you spoke of the treatment of others yet you feel it's ok to murder some people yet another person can break the law while entering the country and it's ok... That's called hypocrisy...

John

Oh, right...you're bringing up abortion, yet again, in a discussion about immigration - wow that makes sense - well on that subject - please see my signature...All I can say is

Peace and God bless,

Well, you see here, John, it was not just about the guest worker program. I was making a general statement: that <in general> if you pay taxes, you should be able to live here - not about the guest worker program, just in general.

Regardless your point doesn't make much sense... But for the record when you first attempted to make your poiint you were speaking of the guest worker program...

Again, this is my opinion. And btw, thank you so much for paying so much attention to every thread I'm in! It really is quite flattering!

I believe you responded to me first... Nice try...

Even if we closed all of our borders, there will still be these evil, sick jacka#()$ that come here legally - I believe they have been called 'sleeper cells'.

Closed borders means that we stop ALL immigration, both legal and illegal. That is what I advocate. Close the borders and stop immigration until we can fix the problems that we have here such as homelessness, poverty, etc. If we had done that 10 years ago, 9/11 would not have happened and we would not have had a need or a reason to invade Afghanistan or Iraq. Think how much different this country would be today. Think of how many Americans could still be alive today if we had closed the borders ten years ago.

Once we fix our problems here at home, then we could reopen the borders in a few years and start allowing legal immigration again.

Well, I respecfully disagree with that - I believe that would be called a closed society & am not sure that is what the founding fathers intended for our country. I feel so extremely lucky to be here that if that had been done before my ancestors came across, many, many people would not be here, including me.

Peace and God bless,

The Founding Fathers set up a Republic found on the rule of law so given your views I don't believe you understand their intentions very well...

John

Well, IMHO, I think the founding fathers invited just about anyone...so much so that Emma Lazarus wrote the poem that now is inscribe on the Statue of Liberty...perhaps you disagree...

Peace and God bless,

I am not saying that we should permanantly close the borders. I am just saying that we should close them until we can fix the problems we already have, maybe five to ten years. What is wrong with that?

Well, I probably would disagree with that - but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Peace and God bless,

Again, this is a discussion about immigration, not what you're talking about. So, LOL! Whatever...if you want to radically change the subject, farbeit for me to stop you!

You spoke of allowing ANYONE in... I guess you're now having second thoughts... That's usually happens when you make statements like you did...

Part of the discussion is the treatment of others(For the record you mentioned it first...) So I am sure you'd like to take that point of the topic elsewhere given your contradictory views on the subject...

No, actually - I'm just trying not to argue with you to take away from this thread that inthysite was kind enough to start.

I would just like to say, for that sake, let's agree to disagree. You have your opinions, I have mine.

Not buying it... And I don't feel any great need to conform to some silly narrow criteria so people can pretend people who supp
ort evil causes have some morale leg to stand when discussing their views...

Well, I probably would disagree with that - but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Peace and God bless,

Just out of curiosity, why would you disagree? Most people who come to this country do so in order to make a better life for themselves, right? If we temporarily close the borders to new immigrants and fix the problems that we already have, wouldn't we be in a much better position to help new immigrants make better lives for themselves when we do reopen the borders in a few years?

Well, I guess if it were temporary for the reasons you give above, I'd consider it. Do any of the candidates want to do this?

Thanks, Peace and God bless,

The only candidate that I have found who has talked about this possibility is Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. McCain, Obama, Barr, and the others won't even give it a second thought.

Well, I disagree with him on other issues, so I would not consider him.

But thanks for that perspective - initially, I had not thought that if we closed the borders temporarily, we could make ourselves stronger; thereby later helping new, and probably more immigrants start a life here. I really had not considered that before.

Thanks again!

Peace and God bless,

One of the good things about message boards is that you can hear all kinds of viewpoints and ideas that you would never get to hear from the media. I've even been known to change my opinion on things from time to time because of opinions and discussions on message boards.
