Shoes are important! At least my shoes are important to me.

I buy good, sensible, attractive shoes and take good care of my feet. I've got miles and miles and miles to go on them still, ya know? I don't know what men think about my shoes but, hey, they don't have to walk in them so....

Do we HAVE to have sensible shoes??

I love shoes!! If I could, I would have tons, different colors, styles -- oh!! I'm drooling!
...yeah, probably a good thing I don't have very much money!!!

arg! but that reminds me.. I need a new pair for summer custodial. Guess they will have to be sensible, it wouldn't be good running the floor machine w/ heels now would it? I slip & fall enough already -- ouch! It hurts to just think about it..

My, how the thread topic caught my eye. I still remember the day I bought my first pair of sensible shoes. It was the same time frame as a features reporter in my little village newspaper wrote an article about her recent purchase. Since I had just gotten mine before I read her article, it resonated w/me. The rest is history... I pretty much only wear sensible shoes now.

Yes, I look at a man's footware.

I love shoes. I can't stand when someones shoes don't match their outfit. It bothers me even more when mine don't (most of the time I change clothes depending on what shoes I want to wear). I have a fancy for peep toe heels/pumps and ballet flats. I like pointy toed shoes too! I do look at what a man has on his feet. You can tell a lot about somebody by what shoes they wear.

Susan,

I'll let you in on a little secret about men and high heels: there are three reasons we like them, and they're all sexual.

1. They change the angle between the leg and the foot, making the ankle appear slimmer.
2. They unbalance the wearer, forcing her to push her backside out and giving us a better view.
3. The thrust-out backside also forces the upper body forward, giving us a better view of those as well.

Sensible shoes are fine. I only want a woman in heels for special occasions.

Wow...who knew?! When I wear heels, it's mostly at church and concerts. Most other times I tend to wear flats. Or tennis shoes, depending on what I'm doing/wearing.

Yep. I've been a sensible shoe gal ever since my injuries. All the more reason to continue, I suppose.

are you saying you didn't know...or feel...that you stand/walk differently when you wear heels? i find that almost unbelievable. any woman who's put on a pair of high heels feels her "center" change.

i guess i'm in the minority here. if i'm dressing up to go anywhere...i don't CARE about sesibility. it's all about completing the outfit, and feeling pretty. i don't care if that involves walking blocks and blocks in very pointy-toed, stilletto heels.

i bought my first...and only pair of what i term 'sensible heels" when i started as a flight attendant. after just a couple trips...i threw them out. i felt like i was 80 yrs old...wearing short, chunky heels that did absolutely nothing for my legs, aesthetically-speaking. i went right back to wearing the pretty, high heels i love.

heck...i can't hardly walk on low heels...i inevitably turn my ankle. so i only have a couple pairs of low-heeled sandlas. and i only wear those when i need to dress up and my knees hurt.

as for men......you BET i notice their shoes! scuffed? tsk tsk. white socks with black shoes? ewwww! tennis shoes with dress pants? why??? if you going on a date (for example) and can't make more of an effort than that...that's VERY telling to the woman. it shows you not only don't care about your own appearance...but will probably be lax about many other things, as well.

I couldn't agree w/u on this one at al!!!!!!!!!!
I wear white socks w/black shoes........and wear tennis shoes with nearly everything.
And i care about ALOT of things.

Nope. That's not what I was saying. No worries, though. I'm used to people not believing me. But I haven't worn anything over 2 inches high in the way of a heel in more than a decade as it is anyway. I can't say 2 inches does much to change my center.

I've heard it said that when you go for a job interview you should be sure your shoes look good. Prospective employers look at your shoes. Getting that job may boil down to whether or not you wore the right shoes. Do you think the same thing applies (no pun intended) for dating?

Men, do you prefer women in sensible shoes?

Women, do you even look at what the man has on his feet[/quote]

I think people should wear shoes that are appropriate for the ocassion. I barely notice men's shoes when they are in the office, but when they are outdoor doing stuff, yeah, I notice shoes. I even notice the brand since the brand indicates the quality of the shoes, especially for tough outdoor activities. I especially notice the brand of running shoes that men wear.

As for work wear, we have a guy in the office that always worry if he's wearing the appropriate shoes for any ocassions that he's going to and he always ask for my opinion. Big mistake for him to come to me as I don't see the difference between any type of formal shoes. If they're black, and no scuff marks on them, they're good enough for me.

Today was one of those days that required me to wear a certain type of footwear and I wasn't. It definitely affected my performance. Instead of rock climbing shoes, I wore hiking shoes. Bad mistake. It got the job done, but boy, did I struggle.

Good point, prairiehiker. Wearing the right shoes for the right occasion, is a smart move.

I must say in HS I complained about 2 inch heels in show choir. Now I don't have many that are lower than that. I've noticed I get many more compliments when I wear heels.

Show choir was kinda like a concert choir. We did a formal section. Then the general chorus sang. Then we did a special big thing. It was an auditioned group. Only the best were in it. Then out of that group the best were taken into an even smaller group. It was lots of fun.

ETA: Once you learn to dance in 2-3 inch heels and sing at the same time, walking isn't so bad...lol

I love shoes and notice everyones shoes - whether I'm interested in them or not! They just kind of stand out to me.

I dont' need a GQ guy or anything like that - but I would prefer to date a guy who owned more than 2 pairs of shoes and knew which shoes to wear with what. I'm attracted to guys that have a little bit of style - not just a pair of tennis shoes or sandals.

Socks w sandals are a definite no go!

On the flip side, I wouldn't let shoes override his faith or personality - its just a preference.

It wouldn't necessarily be a no go for me. Something like that might only be a matter of a minor wardrobe adjustment. Some guys just don't know any better, but they can learn.

LOLOL!!!! I literally burst out laughing at that one, teaspoon!!!!!!

Shoes are an accessory just like every thing else, IMO. The can compliment the outfit, or hurt it. I personally am not a fan of slacks with tennies, or socks with sandals. *shrug* All it says to me is that someone needs to be taken shopping and shown how to dress properly.
