Thanks CM, I will be prayerfully considering where I should be going. It is overcast here today, but the sun did come out for a short while earlier. The weather forecast said a chance of a passing thunderstorm. Speaking about the weather, I heard that Gustav is now a catagory 4! You be careful and safe now!

^Thanks! We should be fine, barring it veering off the projected path. So far, so good.

Have a great evening.

I'm saying a praying for the people in the path of Hurricane Gustav. I pray that most, if not all, will be able to evacuate and that there'd be no loss of life. Things can be replaced; a life is way too costly.

So crazed, how have you weathered this hurricane season? I've been thinking about you! Is your son married yet? If not, it's soon, no? Everything else good?

So far, so good with this year's hurricane season! Thank God! I don't need any more "excitement" in my life right now. :) I know, I've thought of you also and am glad you're back here again! Yes, my #1 son is getting married next Sat. and we are all so very excited! My daughter and I were making bows for decoration for the reception the other night; and they actually turned out well. That was the first time I've made a bow from a spool of ribbon. The down side of that whole escapade was that my daughter shot a staple right into her thumb. Fortunately, she was able to get it out with some coaxing. (She didn't want me to touch it!) :)

Today, I'm reviewing my menu for the rehearsal dinner and fine tuning it. I don't know why I'm wondering if it will be enough, etc. I'm sure it will; but that's just the quirky side of me -- spazzing out, I guess. We've hosted many, many large gatherings at our house. I guess I want it to be "just right" for this special ocassion. I'm trying to chill out, though, really, I am.

I weeded the front flower bed last week, planted a few new magenta flowers, and put down 20 bags of red mulch. It looks sooo much better now. Tonight, I need to spread the last two bags of mulch. I also bought a hanging basket with purple impatiens in it. It really is bright and beautiful. So, that is hanging in the flower bed near the front door.

Everything else is going pretty well. I've been trying to concentrate on being thankful for all that God has blessed us with... our health, our family, provision, our church, friends, etc... instead of dwelling on the negative things that may be happening. It's all about focus, isn't it? When I keep looking at the things that are wrong, I find myself getting anxious and fearful. (and often times, magnifying the problem) However, when I concentrate on the blessings of God and the goodness of God, I find my faith grows and I am at peace. Somehow I think this will be a lifelong lesson for me. :)

Anyway, keep in touch.

Hey there, Humble! Yes, I am. Just got back in from having my first facial. It was a nice treat and was relaxing. (Seven days and counting until son's wedding.) I'm thinking about heading out again (as I am home alone! - what a rare oddity!)... thinking about going to volunteer at our local McCain office. I just found out there's one about 25 min. away. I saw a lady wearing a McCain/Palin ball cap and it made me excited to see the support! Did you see the debate last night? I thought McCain looked strong, like a real leader vs. the other guy. :)

Anyway, as you know, I am from a pretty political area originally; so it's in my blood naturally...

Hope you're having a relaxing weekend. Pop in anytime.

I just got back in and I did wind up volunteering at our local Republican National Headquarter's office for about an hour and a half. I made about 60 phone calls and definitely want to go back. The hardest part was learning the phone/computer system; but once I got going, I was fine. I found out something I already knew...Well, okay two things:

1.) People are crunched for time.

2.) People are suspicious of unfamiliar callers and don't like to cooperate!

I did actually speak with some people; and I was glad to help out in such a tiny way. Maybe they were all paying me back for all the solicitors I've hung up on over the years! :)

Anyway, I'd encourage anyone who is able to volunteer at your local campaign headquarters, buy a t-shirt or hat, etc. to make your voice heard.

Hi CM, it wouldn't make any difference here at all. I am pretty sure that the State will go to Obama, however stranger things have happened though, so we'll see.

The New England states usually favor democrats, don't they? You'd think they'd be tired of the heavy taxes they endure, that they might be ready to try a different type of candidate. We visited Maine in Oct. '04, and there weren't any republican signs along the road or anything, only democrat.

Well, I do know one method that will help in this election... Prayer! We do need to pray for our country and its future leader, whoever that may be. We can pray that righteousness will prevail and that our country would turn back to its founding principles of honoring God and the Bible. It's a prayer that requires much faith, but all things are possible with God. :)

Meanwhile, I'm driving around town with my McCain/Palin bumper sticker in my window!

In my neighborhood, I did see a few signs for Bush back in 2004. This State did vote for Mitt Romney for Governor also. It will be interesting to see what happens here in November.

Somehow I'm holding out hope that more independents will go for McCain vs. the other guy.

The media has been so pro Obama and anti McCain and Palin. People must have their heads in the sand because Obama is merely a Senator, but Sarah Palin is a Governor of a State instead.

Could not agree more! It's the old "If you say it long enough, it must be true" scenario. The media repeat her lack of experience over and over and over again; yet, they somehow turn the other way and give Obama a pass on the experience issue. The scary part of the possibility of Obama being elected is that he is favored over McCain by many other countries, even ones who aren't very friendly with America. What does that say? It reinforces his whole "citizen of the world" stance.

The world as a whole are much more liberal socialist in nature. They do not like the idea of good vs. evil, the war of terror or the cowboy type "go and get them" that George Bush is either. Of course this is our Country, and other Countries telling us who we should vote for is just downright arrogant!

Are you going to watch the VP Debate tonight at 9p.m. on Fox? We're having a family dinner at our house tonight (with our out of town guests for the upcoming wedding); but they've already requested watching it. I'm looking forward to it.

I, frankly, cannot wait until Nov. 4th comes and goes... I have acquired VFS during this long, drawn out ordeal called the campaign. "VFS" stands for Voter's Fatigue Syndrome.

I didn't watch it at all, I am glad it made the media shut up about Sarah Palin though.

Just came in from watching them open their gifts. They have a lot of thank you notes to write out! They were really blessed! :)
