Hey there and Welcome to Sunny Florida! Well, okay if you can't be here in person, at least you can join me for a nice chat among friends.

I have a nice bottle of cold water for you to sip on while you're reclining in your beach chair under the umbrella! We also have some grapes and pretzels to snack on if you get hungry. The sand is white and is like walking on baby powder. If you'd like to dip your feet in the water, you'll find it refreshing. The waters are calm here. Everyone's welcome. We have plenty of sunshine to spread around.

Whether you like to talk about your work, family, church, hobbies, politics, the enconomy, etc... the floor is yours...

Hope you'll feel free to join in the conversation and I look forward to meeting you!

Thanks, crazedmom, for saving a spot on the beach...a great idea. Hope you don't mind that I brought some more cold water...figured we couldn't have too much cold water on a day like today in the sun.

Well, you two brightened my day today! I was beginning to feel a little lonely here on the beach by myself with two empty chairs!!

Thanks for your suggestion, Humble. I included the link in my signature now. I had to figure out how to do that! What do you think? Is it okay now?

Hey there, peaceofGod! Thanks for the water! Yes, here in sunny Florida, you can never drink too much water!

Hope everyone is having a great FRIDAY! TGIF!

I have an idea for a discussion starter... How about you share your "best vacation ever" or if you've not taken one, what you think would be your best vacation ever???

And my favorite vacation. Hmm...it's hard to choose. Probably 2 years ago when I went to CA. I was in FL for the summer and flew into TX to meet up with roommates/friends. We then drove to CA (one of my friends was being dropped off for missionary work). We got to camp (sort of! ha!), see the Grand Canyon, Disneyland, and the Price is Right! 4 of us ladies in a car for a 25 hr drive and we still like each other! hahaha! It was amazing.

Hi, FunBetty! Your trip sounds neat. That is a long time in the car! :) The Grand Canyon is definitely on my list of places I'd like to visit. I also want to see Mount Rushmore. I saw Niagara Falls around 1981 or so; so I'd like to see it again.

What did you think about the Grand Canyon? They say that you have to either take a helicopter ride or a ride a mule to really take in the full scope of it.

I went to Mammoth Lakes and Santa Barbara, CA last July. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful! Santa Barbara could have almost just as easily been in FL (with its palm tree lined streets along the coast). It was pretty though. Of course, here we don't have mountains in the background. :)

beach oh beach it is beautiful and too much people. I wonder if i am allowed to swim over there. may i share in your umbrella? I remember way back home when i was about 10 years old. just swimming in the sea without any worries of the future. Now here i am, 38 years old with high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, gastritis you name it; how i desire that the Lord will come very soon.

The Grand Canyon was amazing, and I would have love to have been able to hike down to the bottom (no equipment/time). We stayed nearby at the Grand Canyon Hotel, which was a historic hotel in downtown Williams. That was really the best part! The hotel had been around for 120 years, and out room had a claw tub. Outside our window was the main street, where a ? (historic) reinactment was taking place. We opened the window to watch it all unfold.

Hey, Jessiebadillo & AngelInWaiting! How are you guys doing today? Hey, Jessie -- we're the same age!

Thanks for the welcome, Angel! It's great to be here!

Anybody read a really good book lately?? I usually only read non-fiction. Just got back in from the library and got 7 books! :)

Father's Day is quickly approaching. Anybody want to share a special gift you gave on Father's Day or activity you did to celebrate??

Hey, Terri. I hadn't heard of him before. The only fiction books I've read in recent years are the novels that Thomas Kinkade & Kathryn Spencer wrote. Those were so good; I didn't want them to end! I also read some of the Jan Karon novels about Mitford and Father Tim.

What about any good comedy movies? ...

Im a short story writer but i cant remember reading the whole book except the beginning and ending. But reading is very relaxing and good for the mind but i have a little problem in that part because once i read a book and i did not like the ending? i usually think of an ending that i like and i keep on thinking and thinking like day dreaming day and night. oh i like movies like Mr. Holland Opus and cutting edge, mighty ducks, The President and many more.

how are you guys today? it's early morning here in the middle east and there is a sandstorm.

Hi, Crazedmom! Found your thread at last! Some good reading here!
I like the beach theme!

I like to read and always have a book in progress. Sometimes I read books in stages, one book I read on and off last year and it's still waiting to be finished. I am reading one of Eugene Peterson's books now and going through it slowly and thoughtfully, taking notes. On the other hand, I usually speed through most novels, though I do absorb what they are saying.

Comedy movies, you say? I thought George of the Jungle was funny!

Hey there, all! Hope you're enjoying a great day! A sandstorm, huh? Wow. We think we have it bad with torrential downpours at times! Sand has got to be worse! :)

I'm the same way... always a book in progress. Another one that is on my nightstand that I'm getting ready to start is "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper. I saw him interviewed on TBN and he has an incredible miracle story! An inspiration for sure! He wrote a sequel called "Heaven is Real", which I also have; but I'm waiting until I read the first book.

Glad you found my thread, Hisjoy! I guess it takes a while to find me, huh? I kind of blend in with the crowd on this beach, I guess. Well, I guess that's better than wearing an ill-fitted polka-dot bikini!

Hi crazedmom, I hope you are enjoying your new spot. I am enjoying reading your blog.
I must say that I am a fiction lover. I just like to get lost in some entertainment. One of my favorite authors is Phyllis Whitney.

We're trying to sell our house, so we don't have plans to go anywhere because as soon as we sell, we plan to move out of state! I would love to go and see our children and grandchildren before we go, though. They are eight hundred miles north from us.

What are you planning for the summer, crazedmom?

Well, we are thinking to go to Pigeon Forge, TN either in July or August. We could all stand to get away for a few days. We don't have anything definite set as of yet. We've never been there, but it sounds very family friendly.

My summer plans are already including wedding planning for my son & his fiance. We're in the process of securing a facility and should hear back today. That aside, there are so many details, which I hope to have nailed down the majority of them by the time school rolls around for the kids. They don't have a clue where to begin hardly with the planning, so I'm helping out as much as they want/need me to. I don't mind.

You know what I could use, though? If anyone has any inexpensive ideas for the party favors, decorations, etc., etc. -- please feel free to share! We've pretty well found a place that will cater in the food, but will have friends serve in the church fellowship hall. Anyone know of inexpensive ideas for invitations? I've been looking around online and the prices are actually pretty good, really. I popped in Hallmark today and their prices are more than double. Any tips on great wedding songs for the ceremony? I'm all ears...

Crazedmom,

When I graduated from Seminary last year I decided to not spend an arm and a leg on invitations. Instead I shopped around and found really nice looking invitations (I think the ones I found were actually at walmart!), I then went home, created a nice announcement on the computer, and printed them up (with a picture included!). In the end I think I spent maybe $5-10 and I think they looked just as nice as the ones from the bookstore!

As for the ceremony, you might want to discuss with the church first...some churches have to approve songs, as this is a worship service (so no love theme from Titanic). Are you wanting traditional music or contemporary music? Some songs to consider:
- Pachebel's Canon (processional)
- Ode to Joy (recessional)

Contemporary/praise songs:
Your Beloved

I've got a ton of more songs upstairs (in my brain), so as I think I'll come back!

Thanks, FunBetty for your ideas! I'll check it out.

Hey, Humble! How is your Monday going?

We're getting ready to have a thunderstorm here, which we haven't had for some time! For some strange reason, I like storms! Is that weird or what? Maybe it reminds me of being up north. I don't know. But, we really do need the rain. Just as long as the electricity doesn't go out, I'm fine!

My Monday is good. Busy with wedding planning, phone calls, taking younger son to basketball camp, laundry, dishes, etc. And, look at the time, it's almost dinner time! I'm thinking it's a good night for something very quick!!

My Monday is going ok, just being lazy after the busy weekend!

My favorite comedy? I really liked Monsters Inc.
