How do you stay energized throughout the day?

Konstantinos -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/2/2008 6:01:56 PM)

i need help! is a way to stay energized? haha

anyway. all of the other 4

eating right, that means no bread, unless its homemade and even then not much. generally not many carbs/fats that arent homemade.

whole wheat rice, or pasta. lots of fruits, they give me heck of a lot of energy.

having more muscle than i used to, even though i have right now quite some fat too. exercizing im sure it makes me kinda more energized for various reasons, but it mostly makes me.. alert, rather than energetic exactly.

and of course sleeping enough. for me 8 hours isnt enough but with 10 im really wide awake when i get em.

drinking water too

the me time.. doesnt really matter much for me, i guess this depends on the person and where they are in life at the moment. me if i get .. "me" time i get anything but energized. mroe like depressed and bored.

Alright, I voted blind. [:D] And I chose other because I do all of the above. I eat well, exercise, drink water, have priorities (a little me time is one, including a good nights sleep) and learn/accept help from others.

I've gone the modern American route where you eat a diet full of sugar, junk food, and caffeine trying to shortcut good health, and none of it works. Sure, sugar and caffeine give you a temporary high, but the crash is not pretty. Also, if you do one of the above and not all, you don't get the energy you could have. It's a package deal, IMO.

Coffee.

And sometimes more coffee.

bzirk -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/2/2008 6:56:46 PM)

I joke a lot about caffeine keeping me energized, but the truth is that it's a matter of how I think that does it more than anything. That and getting a good night's sleep. Many times I can rev myself up by dwelling on the good things (Phil. 4:8 to make this a spiritual exercise). It is amazing to me how much my thinking really does affect how I feel.

I have my father as an example. To my knowledge, he was rarely depressed, and he had energy coming out his ears until the last several months of his life. I hope to live like that for the rest of my life. Of course I've got a lot of catching up to do since I was depressed pretty much throughout my 20s. I was still able to get a lot done then, but it was not done with energy but by sheer cussed will. I prefer doing things with energy. [&:]

None of this is to say that eating right and being active isn't helpful. But all of that can be negated by thinking in a way that is defeating.

Harvie -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/3/2008 10:38:45 PM)

I eat 4 healthy, well-balanced, nutritious meals a day.

I exercise 3-4 days per week (usually biking.)

I drink plenty of water.

I get plenty of sleep.

I spend a lot of time in prayer, and in praise.

I avoid caffeine and sugar whenever possible.

crankius -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/3/2008 11:06:15 PM)

Now I feel guilty for giving my silly answer.

Truthfully, I only have one cup of coffee a day. I have a second cup only once in a great while. [:)]

I run 3 miles five days a week, and like bzirk, I notice my approach to life makes a huge difference.

I find that I react to stress by cleaning my house, so maybe I could also say stress actually gives me energy.

Edit to add one more thing--Music also energizes me and brightens my day.

Konstantinos -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/4/2008 6:49:24 AM)

oh yeah music is the same for me

but stress does NOT energize you. fear/worry/stress is always a motivation to do something but it doesnt energize you.

bzirk -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/4/2008 9:46:47 AM)

Stress can most definitely give energy but temporarily. It can have a decided effect on the adrenal glands (among others), and that definitely can give a shot of energy. But it's usually paid for dearly by the body.

Jesus gives me energy, zeal, passion and enthusiasm!!! [:)]

When you're in love with Jesus; you become a photocopy of HIM! [sm=dance.gif]

Another thing is my cutie kitty Princess F. She is the reason of my life. She was with me through thick and thin. I've been thru hellish period in my life. Her innocent and sweet look on her lovely face saved my life from so many unfair and trying time. How can I Not love her??? That's is simply insane!!! She is everything in my life....after Jesus. HisCovenant -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/4/2008 9:50:33 AM)

I agree that attitude can give energy or undermine energy. Very true!

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/4/2008 4:42:14 PM)

at this point I don't think anything short of having this baby can energize me....but only a few short weeks to go!!!!
usually, when not pregnant, the things that energize me are all the things (except coffee[:'(][:'(]) that are said above....plus mandatory nap time every day for all the kiddos and me!!!!!

Amen to Cloak and Sunshine4God's posts!

Studying the Bible, consistent prayer and focus, and journaling help me to overcome bad eating habits and also help me to keep a good outlook. I like to journal about scripture that helps me and this is one of the things that's helped me most, especially when I review my journal. I try to do things to help other people when I have the opportunity; Isaiah 58 inspires me regarding this because of it's promises related to good health.

Drinking two cups of green tea really boosts my energy.

Eating fruit and vegetables makes me feel better. I like cooking a mixture of vegetables and 1 egg + 1 egg white in the microwave (which l like with ketchup with Tabasco).

Lying down to rest for about fifteen minutes helps to re-energize me.

I try to do aerobic exercise everyday or atleast 5-6 times per week. Taking a walk refreshes me even if I'm tired.

I'm definitely in the "eating right and exercising" camp. Those two aspects of health totally influence my daily life. I have also found that great fitness/health helps my pursuit of faith.

One of the key components of a successful pursuit of both faith and fitness is consistency. I am closer to God and my faith is deepened when I am consistent in the spiritual disciplines of personal Bible Study, prayer, and Christian fellowship. I also see the greatest results in fitness when I am consistent with my fitness plan which includes exercising regularly, eating healthy foods, and getting sufficient rest.

Another key component is simplicity. When pursuing a relationship with God or following a fitness plan becomes complicated it is extremely difficult to stay consistent. Focusing on the basics has generated the greatest results in my life. I’m continually reminding myself of the KISS Principle (Keep It Simple Stupid).

The most important component of this pursuit of both faith and fitness is focusing on programs that are results-oriented. Have you ever invested a lot of effort without the results to show for it? I sure have. I’m now very intentional about dedicating myself only to programs that produce results. Why dedicate valuable time on anything less?

These three keys of consistency, simplicity, and results-oriented programs radically changed my life and enable continued growth today. I’m mentally focused, emotionally healthy, and rested. These benefits help me stay grounded as I grow in my faith. Faith and fitness are a large part of our everyday lives. One impacts the other. It makes sense to pursue both in order to realize tremendous growth.

I chose "other" because I feel that all of them are very important.

Bridgitt -> RE: How do you stay energized throughout the day? (6/25/2008 9:16:39 AM)

I chose eating right and exercising. It makes a big difference. Also, as someone already mentioned it, sleeping at least 8 hours is very important!
