Or making derogatory t-shirts with his face on a monkey's body. That would be wrong and who did it? The shirt in this conversation had a cartoon character on it. And as was pointed out, many who find this wrong had no problem with Bush and the cartton Alfred E Newman. Selective outrage since one fills their agenda and the other does not.

Finally some honesty, how are we ever gonna get past it, if we don't talk honestly, I can now admit, I was a racist. Could'nt stand white people, my own mother included. But after getting saved, I had to give it up. period. I'm always amazed by the racism coming thru on this Christian board. Tells me some basics aint been got to=LOve your neighbor as you love yourself. We love. love, love ourselves! So am I. However, disagreement with your perceptions and arguments does not constitute racism. I think that the t-shirt thing is at least rude and probably was a racial commentary. I find it hard to believe otherwise. My problem is the way people react to things like this. We can deal with these issues without making it a conflict to choose sides in animosity. We need to choose sides with love. Correct the people who are wrong, but do not make it into a name-calling, politically motivated rally. The reactions are what perpetuate the racial stresses.

I misspoke. I meant a monkey's body with his name on the description. It is a monkey cartoon. Bush with the MAD character is not racially motivated. You can't compare having a person's image as a goofy character with a racially charged logo. Look at it this way: If you had been judged negatively for your race all of your life, called an ape, a monkey, etc. and then a political candidate of your race (or who is partially of your race) was depicted as an ape....would you not be offended? How could you see it in any other way but as a racial slur? Depicting any other race in that form would not carry the same connotation. I do not think blacks are being overly sensitive on this subject.

Well truthfully this man, might have ment offense, I do no know, if it is causing offense he should not do it. I have never though of CG, looking like Obama. CG is cuter IMHO, but am a Curious George Fan. Ever read the one where CG broke his arm, and had to be taken to the hospital with the man in the Big Yellow hat. Ok just kidding, but enjoyed these books as a kid alot. They say mean things about Bush every dy, maybe we all should learn a lesson, evrybody is someone, and even GWB is a child of God, and an appointed by God to be our leader. We need to use respect with BO also, respect is something you give, that is given back, when you practice it, kind of like love. quote:

This is a good lesson to all. Should Obama become President, and new messiah for the mislead, there will be no disagreeing with him, no charactures drawn, nothing, without the cry of racism. You're right about one thing. Your apparent willingness to disregard the petty racism at the heart of this story in favor of scoring base political points is indeed a good lesson as to where your own principles lie. Knocking a politician for his/her platform is fair game. Using obvious slurs against that person is another. Did someone come out and ADMIT that the INTENT was a "racial slur"? or, did everyone just assume that?

You know, reading threads and seeing Televison where people continually bash Mr. Bush, how does anyone take offense for Obama? Is God going to hold people who make fun of the President any less accountable than those who put Curious George T-Shirts with Obama's face. The double standard is what is wrong with todays church.

Depicting Obama as Curious George, a monkey - disrespectful? Yes or no. Depicting President Bush as Alfred E. Newman, an assumed idiot with a low IQ - disrespectful? Yes or no. If you condemn one, you have to condemn the other, IMHO. I believe both are disrespectful.

Again it is trickery with the numbers; many events that were not considered race crimes are now considered such; that is not indicative of an increase, just a broadening of the offences by a PC gone wild government. Thanks RC

Obama and camp are playing the race card on every criticism that comes against him; His partor and spiritual advisor is a loon, but if it is brought up you are a racist. He is pals with an unrepent terrorist, if someone brings it up you are a racist. He wants to hob know with Iran and Hamas (already having secret meeting with them through his subbornanats); bring it up and you are a racist. Typical demokrat stradegy, but the truth will prevail. Depicting him as a monkey (cartoon or not) is a racial slur. People where I live still refer to blacks as monkeys, apes, baboons.

Depicting him as a monkey (cartoon or not) is a racial slur. If you want to see it as a racial slur, then do so. I choose not to and see a man who has a cartoon character who looks like him (as bush did). Of the two of us based on that, who is more bound by the past and cannot get past a mans race? quote:
