They look wonderful. Cheesecake isn't so hard, IMO. It's less like baking (to this awful baker) and more like cooking (which I can do well.)

Thanks! I hope my husband is surprised and impressed. He knows I have dreaded making cheesecake for years.

Mmmm...cheesecake is my favorite dessert....and it looks mighty yummy. I almost bought one at the store tonight, but decided against it. :) Thanks for the pics though.

The only time I can stand cheesecake is when I go to the Cheesecake Factory - those people must've sold their souls to somebody to make the kind of cakes they do. And they have like 30+ flavors of cheesecake; I always get one that involves chocolate.

I love cheesecake! So how far is your house from mine because those look yummy! Oops...did I just invite myself...lol

I am so excited hubby has tomorrow off even if all we do is hanging out at the house. I love 3 day weekends. Well we leave Tuesday to go on vacation with a younger couple who has no children yet so I am again a bit nervous. I know I was the same way before we had Hunter, but I just feel like sometimes they don't get it when it comes to what all comes along with being a parent and especially a parent to a toddler. I know that Hunter will have a blast though because we will be staying at a cabin on the river bank in North Carolina. He loves to be outdoors and I am sure that is where most of our days will be spent with momma keep close tabs of Hunter. Normally I am not fearful of water until Hunter is around it...yikes! Maybe we will get a yummy fish dinner out of this trip

I used to feel the same way. But once we got married Dh wouldn't let me use that excuse. He grew up raising his own, killing them, and eating a whole lot more of the chicken than I'm used to! So now I'll deal with bones and stuff, but I still don't eat the weird parts of the chicken!

We eat a lot of chicken (very, very little red meat and pork) so we buy (almost) everything - breasts, thighs, wings, whole, drums, ground. I get it all bone in skin on unless there is a sale on something else.

Donna - when the pic opened in a new window, all I saw was the empty pan! I thought "wow it must have been really good...and she's taunting us!" P.S. Send one of those my way!

Looks GREAT Donna. ...mmmm...cheesecake.
Chelle...meet ya there? We'll have cheesecake and let the kids romp...YEAH!
LOL

Well girls. I have good news for once LOL
We had a VTC with Justin yesterday (Video teleconferance) It was great! The kids were so happy to see him, and ended up with a few extra minutes (instead of just 15) because the guy after him was late. It was so nice.
And...I'm getting fence installed. I had to borrow the dough from my dad, but it's going to be wonderful. I have a BIG yard and Fence Guy is even doing me a solid and coming today to do it, even though it's a holiday. I'm stoked. It's going to be awesome for the kids (and dogs) to have fence.
So, thought I'd share something good instead of my usual trainwreck-y stuff
Sandy

So my 13 year old nephew was supposed to come spend the weekend with us (and his 14th birthday next week), but he's not allowed to come now because he was caught looking at porn all night.

I managed to convince his dad to let him come by here this morning. His parents at the end of their rope dealing with it. This kid has been caught looking at it by almost everyone in the family on more than one occasion and he still never learns. His parents have "tried everything they can think of."

I put that in quotations because I don't think they have tried everything. I think this is his rebellion about his parents always working and never being home. His parents both work two jobs. The thing is they choose to work. If they managed their money properly and stopped wasting it on themselves, they could probably get by on the father's one income.

From a very young age this boy has had the majority of responsibility placed on him and he has pretty much raised his three younger siblings. I know it affects him, he's alluded to it in conversation before.

Anyways, he's asleep on the couch right now. Once our other nephew leaves for school this morning I want to talk to the kid. I'm hoping I can get him to open up about why he is doing this, and how he feels about things at home. Everyone in the family can see that the parents are harming the children by working so much, except for them, and they don't listen when we try to talk to them. I think the son is afraid to say something to him. So I'm hoping that this will open things up.

Any suggestions about opening up conversation with him? He pretty much has no choice to talk to me. He's not allowed to watch tv, play video games or do anything other than sit on my couch right now. I'm going to tell him plainly that anything he doesn't want told to his parents won't be, but that I'm trying to make things work for everyone. Because even though the parents say they are going to take away all his priveleges and make him miserable over the summer, they're going to just go back to work and leave him home alone.

just be gentle. I know what he's doing is wrong, and so does he...even it's deep down. He's probably got so much anger, shame and guilt going on in his head. Be firm in making it clear that you aren't going to give up on him talking to you...but be gentle and make sure he knows that you love him no matter what. That he can talk to you and be honest with you and it's not going to cause you to love him less.

Thanks Sandy!

Yolanda, I always wonder how you're up so early! I come on here at what seems like a crazy time to me that no one should be up at...and you're here and an hour ahead of me!

I didn't expect to see anyone up and around this morning! I should check here more often in the mornings...uh...who am I kdding, usually I am doing the morning boogie getting OJ, making sure its cereal and not goldfish in their bowls, squashing fights of Dora or Yo Gabba Gabba....

This is an unusually quiet start to our day.

LOL, we're usually up anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30... today he was up earlier, and he's already gone back to bed. He has a bad diaper rash that seems to be bothering him, so I just rocked him and he went back to sleep. He is barely eating Poor little man.

LOL...the advert for that show slays me! The first time it heard it on tv, I wasn't paying attention, and I hear someone say "there's a party in my" and my mind automatically went the wrong way! I thought he was going to say "there's a party in my pants." (Shame on you Lexie!)

Aawww, poor baby! Diaper rash is the pits. But rocking your little precious boy back to sleep is divine! I hope he sleep long and well for you, Yolanda.

Yo Gabba - totally freaked me out the first time....I wasn't sure if it was going to make it to the approved list...but their silly songs always have a good lesson involved. Our fav is "Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, STOP!"

my kids are up before 6 every morning. Especially Zay zay. So I'll usually come down and get on the computer to fart around before the chaos starts.

Sandy, I have thought of you with awe and amazement these last few days. Dave is only out of town for the week and I am so tired by the time I have to corral my 3 crazies into bed at night.

Thank-you for all your family is doing for my family's freedom. God bless you!

Oh my kids would soooo try that too!

Oh, and Lexi, I totally almost freaked the first time I heard that song too...I went the pants direction too. YIKES!

Today the fight was SpongeBob or Curious George. Mommy can't stand SB, so CG it is...since they couldn't decide on their own.

Have to pack up to get them down to the parade soon. Brian is driving the float, Nick is riding in the truck with him, Noah will be on the float throwing candy/VBS invitations. And I will be with Hannah and Levi watching the parade. I'll go to my mom's first and then we'll go over together. I only slept like 4 hours last night, so I will probably not feel well today and will need their help with the little kids. I already feel icky.

Part of why I couldn't sleep last night was that my brain started turning and I couldn't stop thinking of all that needs to be done before this baby is born. There's a lot of stuff. A lot. A real lot. And this baby will be here soon.

Hunter was kind and slept in until 8:00 this morning so maybe we are on our way to a normal schedule again. I made pancakes for breakfast, hubby is going to mow the grass, I will clean, Hunter will nap, and then maybe we will do something this evening then again maybe we will be bums all day. It is times like this I miss being near family and getting to spend the holidays with them even if it is just 4th of July.

(((Lexie))) Regarding your nephew!
