I love this, the same people who wanted to crucify Dan Quayle for misspelling "potato" are screaming that we should just cut Obama some slack for the 57 states comment.

A dumb comment is a dumb comment, no matter which side of the aisle it is birthed on....Barack should get just as much ribbing as lil' Danny Quayle did.....

One difference - Dan Quayle's staff handed him a card with words on it to test the kids. The staffer misspelled POTATO. Quayle said the kid was wrong because of the card.

I don't think little insignificant mistakes should be made an issue of regardless of who makes them... When a mistake is obviously a mistake and not genuine ignorance, let it go... Follow anyone around with a camera 24/7 and you will find a few errors.

And I believe that whether it is Quayle or Obama or Bush or Clinton.

How many breaks have you given Bush on this, even among your friends?

It depends on how frequent the verbal blunders. Every pol makes a mistake now and then, but Bush tends to make it a national pastime.

As far as my friends (whom you show a disturbing amount of interest in on these forums), we rarely ever discuss politics. More often, we babble about comics books, movies, or disc golf.

This was before I knew Oprah was an anti-christ.
