ORIGINAL: Preludeian quote:
My very first message from God was "If you want Me to help you, go back to church." I was seeking God's help and this is what I heard Him say to me, so I obeyed and I'm glad I did. I can look to scripture and see that scripture backs up what I heard. If I thought God told me to never go to church, well, then I would have to question whether that was God speaking or someone else! I wonder if you would of listened if he told you not to got to a certain church? Within your mind you ponder attending Such-n-Such church when you heard the word come to you, "Do not goto that Church". Would you follow the word or go not knowing if it was Him? My experience with God, in this instance anyway, has been He speaks in generalities. In other words, He didn't tell me which church to go to--just to go to church. When my husband and I moved out of state, we were looking for a new church. Since I'd had my Word from God years earlier, I've been highly motivated to go to church, so we were in a new place seeking a new church. There was a very popular church just outside our subdivision. We attended a few other churches, but this closer church is the one we attended more than any other. However, neither my husband nor me felt moved to join the church. Something was holding us both back. While searching for a church, we had visited a church that we both liked. We had only attended one time, but the church was in the process of building a new property several miles away. When the church first moved to it's new location we didn't bother to go. The church outside our subdivision was so much closer so that's where we went. However, I kept "seeing" the other church in my mind's eye. I kept questionning why we weren't feeling moved to join the church we were attending. Finally, God revealed to me He wanted us to visit the other church. We had been visiting the church we were closer to for about 2 1/2 years. Honestly, if we weren't feeling we were in the right church, why go there? Convenience was the only reason. So I suggested to my husband that he and I go one Sunday to the church several miles away. And that's where we are today. We were always meant to be there all along. I think that as we come to experience God in our lives, how He relates to us individually, we can figure out a lot of what He's saying to us--even if it's not verbal.
