VisitorinWaiting -> When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 5:25:46 PM)

I know that they are coming earlier than they first announced...but I don't think anything has changed on the IRS site. I have read news stories that say that all of the direct deposits will be completed by May 9th. Hubby is last in the numbers game, so we will be the last set done. I am just trying to budget and wanting to get a better idea of when they will be here...

So, if you have your rebate, when did you get it? When was your first expected date that you were supposed to get it?

Thanks for your help!! [:D]

T.I.L. -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 5:49:03 PM)

Got mine today!!![:D]

It showed up in my bank account, direct deposit.

Sorry, I didn't have an expected arrival date for it...

Miss Giggles -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 5:59:11 PM)

There is a link to the irs websites "where's my stimulus payment" in the other thread. I got mine on May 6th just like the link said I would.

2shaye -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 6:02:34 PM)

I haven't filed yet, so no rebate!

PrincessDonna -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 8:47:48 PM)

Mine was supposed to be between April 28th and May 2nd. It arrived in my bank account May 1st, but in the afternoon, so I believe on May 2nd business day.

ddsisson -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/7/2008 10:19:17 PM)

We file with H & R Block and they get an e-check, we pick it up and deposit, so we I believe will get it snail mail, according to DH's #'s toward the end of May(I am hoping sooner).

We did that, and it said that it had no info for us at this time.... [>:]

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 9:37:19 AM)

I read a news story at CNN Money, and it said that they had started 4 days earlier than they were supposed to, and that all direct deposit would be done by May 9th, but nothing has changed on the IRS website. I surely hope we get ours tomorrow. We have some bills to pay this weekend...................

meg4 -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 10:27:02 AM)

According to the IRS website, I should have mine tomorrow. It was not in my upcoming transactions when I checked this morning.

Same here. I really, really thought back when I first posted the irs link (the one that is not updated with the new dates) that ours was supposed to be dd on May 9. Well now it says May 16 and I keep getting the 'no info at this time' message on the other one.

Sigh.

LaurainAL -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 3:47:44 PM)

I don't have mine yet [sm=angertalk.gif]

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 5:40:43 PM)

I'm getting a little concerned. SIL's last 2 digits are 07, and she still doesn't have hers. She did direct deposit... I don't know what her situation is with the other stipulations... I am beginning to doubt that they will be done with direct deposit by the 9th as I read in the news story. I really hope that I get mine tomorrow, but am doubtful now. We NEED the money for some bills that come out automatically............................... Oh boy!

GregandJenny -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 7:50:32 PM)

It's not always wise to spend money before you have it.

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 8:30:16 PM)

Just so all of you know...the bills that I mentioned come out every month at the same time...so either I have the money in there or I don't. This month I don't...my baby girl had surgery not too long ago, and we had to use a lot of money going there and coming back twice in two weeks... If I had called and scheduled those payments in anticipation of the money coming in on a certain day, then, yes, I would have been spending my money before I had it, but I didn't...these are MONTHLY automatic payments...whether the money is there or not...

No, it's not wise to spend money before you have it, but that wasn't the case with here...

I know this is off topic, but I had to make sure that everyone didn't assume as this guy did...that I was not being wise with my money...

buckifn -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 8:55:41 PM)

I always pay taxes so am expecting no rebate...but I would think the best approach would be consider that as a bonus and not plan on having it for anything period.

Planning to have bills paid through automatic withdrawals is risky business unless you are 100% sure the money is going to be there regardless of unexpected circumstances. Isn't there a $20-30 fee added on to a check that doesn't clear?

I'm not downing anyone in part. but hearing so many people these days talking about getting their rebate check to do this...this...and this...as an entitlement is kind of scary. In a way it almost seems like the check itself is setting people up for more difficult circumstances if it doesn't arrive on a date they thought it would.

Sideways -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 10:06:47 PM)

We got ours direct deposit on May 2nd.

GregandJenny -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/8/2008 10:09:29 PM)

Visitor,
I am not saying you are wise or unwise, however I agree with buckfin. It's really scary to me that people have plans for money they don't already have. If your going through tough circumstances, I would advise you to change your automatic payments so that you will not get NSF fees or late fees or even possibly lose the privilege. I didn't make my comment to be mean or cold hearted, I made it because there are to many people relying on this money they have not yet received. What would happen to anyone who had that money allocated and then the congress and the president decided that they didn't need to send the money? it wouldn't be a good situation unfortunately for many.

On a side note Visitor I am praying for you and your family.

God bless you,

G

Not all automatic w/d payments can BE changed. We have some that cannot. Like ViW said, either the money is in there or it isn't and if it isn't, you have to eat the fees. Stuff happens. Anybody who lives paycheck to paycheck knows that sometimes it just doesn't come together and you end up in a bind. It's not anything to try to make someone feel financially foolish over.

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/9/2008 8:55:37 AM)

Thank you danas mom...and I second everything you said. Our family does live paycheck to paycheck, so getting a little something extra this week would be really beneficial...since dh only gets paid every two weeks, and this is one of the "off" weeks. Also, since we got messed up on our taxes last year by our tax preparer, we got some monies taken out of our rebate this year, so the rebate wouldn't exactly match how much we got messed up, but it would certainly be some relief. Anyway, I'm beginning to think that those who are saying that they are concerned about people being "happy" (and really, that's all I am about this...is happy for the extra funds with everything going on in my life now...I'm not dependent on it or anything other than happy) about the stimulus checks are those who either 1. are not getting a check at all and are a little disappointed in that fact or 2. are not happy with the whole idea, in part about the way it's being done, or the amount they are scheduled to get back, or who approved the rebates... there are number of things that come to mind... Anyway, I am happy that mine is coming and for the extra financial security that it will bring. I'm sorry if that is wrong in the eyes of some.

Consecrated2God -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/9/2008 9:16:52 AM)

We got ours today, and like I posted in another thread, we've already spent most of ours before we got it. Probably not the wisest idea in the world, but since we had heard people were actually getting them we figured we probably were, too. We had it all planned out how we were going to spend the $2400, and we spent $1932 of that before we ever got it. So now we'll just reimburse our savings and spend the remaining $468 on the other things we'd planned on getting. Actually, it wasn't quite that much now that I think about it. I hadn't completed check-out on my curriculum order, and that was over $800. So we'd only spent just over a thousand before we got it.

I think you and Danas mom totally missed what I was trying to say. I never said it was wrong number one. I am not really concerned about people being happy or not with this, but what's scary to me is that people are counting on it before they get it. Having a "wish list" or priorities for the money before you get it is ok, but having it already marked as income as if it's regular pay before you have it is sorta scary to me. That's all I am sayin. You don't know when that moneys comming, really how that money's comming or if the powers that be would say that ah the economy is stimulated no more checks.

Once you have the money use it for what it needs to be used for, but until then to count on that money like one would count on regular income isn't to wise, because you don't know when or if you're getting it until it's there.

I"m not scheduled to get mine until July 11

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/9/2008 11:31:49 AM)

Greg...
Well, you know, I sit down and budget my dh's income before he gets his check. Isn't that the same? I mean, I don't know EXACTLY the number of hours he is going to have, and I'm not sure EXACTLY how much is going to be taken out for all of the things that are taken out, and I'm not EXACTLY sure that he will get it to the bank on time... So, there are several factors with that as there is with this. Also, we budget what we will use our refund each year for. We also budget his two yearly bonuses. So, I don't see how when the government says, "You have money coming to you before this date," that it is scary to budget what you want to use that money for before that date... Yes, I have a wish list, but if it all doesn't come to fruition, then it doesn't...but I haven't went out and written a bunch of outstanding checks in hopes that my rebate would come in today or anything...
:) Just patiently waiting...
You want to know what I am wanting to do with my rebate...get homeschooling curriculum for my son. Wow...that's a big wish, huh? No, I'm not going out and buying things for me... And, yes, it will help with bills too...but the main thing I'm wanting it for is for the homeschooling expenses that we will incur in the next few months.

There are things that can change that date or things that can change the amount, that's all. I am not saying you're bad or you're dumb or anything like that so please don't take it that way.

devinevessel -> RE: When did you get your economic stimulus rebate? (5/9/2008 11:45:30 AM)

I did get mine today but I am concerned. According to the calculator on the IRS Website I should have received x amount but only received half of it. I don't owe any back taxes or have any debt that I know of. I did receive a refund so I was thinking if I did owe any back taxes or any other debt such as a student loan it would have come out of that. I can't get through the IRS number. Has this happened to anyone else?
