Little_1 -> "Shout" to the Lord...... (5/6/2008 7:35:47 AM)

1 Have you noticed that there are quite a few references in the Bible to the command to 'shout' e.g. Psalm 47:1; Zephaniah 3:14, etc.

2 Also, there are quite a few references to the term 'battle cry', e.g. Isaiah 42:13; Hosea 5:8, etc.

What is your understanding of the reason for such? [8|] Any help appreciated.

Have some thoughts, but it will take a couple of days to put it together, thanks.

My belief is simple: It lifts Him up

Appreciated. I have printed off as many scriptures as I can about this and will post my own thoughts after praying about it also.

It will be good to compare. Look forward to your findings.

Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zschech

Shout to the Lord

Chorus:

Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing.
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name!
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you! ......

This song is based on Psalm 98

Re: OP - On studying and praying about this subject, I believe the battle "shout" (as rendered by the Children of Israel in Scripture) is a "bold outward declaration" that they are:

~ trusting the promise God gave them and they are stepping out and
~ taking possession of what is theirs by faith. Hallelujah.

Wow! This has been a blessing studying this subject.

Q - In view of this - do you believe there is a place for the "battle cry" in our churches/Christian communities today?
