SGharley you got it right. a national artist blowing off NQC would be almost akin to career suicide.

EHSS did it and hasn't won a Fan Award since.

...but, Fan Awards aside, I wouldn't say that their career has ended.

If Dave is really with them, I would surely like to see them. I have made it no secret before that I really liked the original Three Bridges Sound. I wonder if Mitch will get to sing lead, or if Phil will remain there?

Mitch took the place of Mark Lanier so he's been singing the lower part in the harmony - at least when I saw them last. In fact, Phil was singing harmony over Greg a good bit of the time last time I saw them.

Agreed - and I wasn't implying that.

Poet Voices is just all over the board. It's sad, if they would pick a sound, stick with a style, and get out there more than once a month maybe they would become a notable group within the industry again. You just can't replace members every other couple of months, no matter if it is because they are fired or they quit.

Poet voices has been stable the 4 1/2 years with members. Nice run by sg standards.

If Poet Voices were to win Tri Award that they are up for, (looooong stretch here) it would be a shame because Greg Crowe and Mark Lanier are the ones who made the group the past few years and they aren't with the group now.

Greenbean welcome back. Long time since we heard from you. I agree that PV was somewhat stable member wise for those years but you have to admit the style was all over the place esp. with the Hearts and Harmony and the newest project. But it runs hand and hand with Southern Gospel music today...what did they call that revolution... American Gospel Music???? :-)

OK. When you said "did it" I wasn't completely sure whether you were talking about "blowing off NQC" or committing "career suicide."

Don't think anyone was fired. Both just left for different reasons. Mark left before NQC last year and Greg recently left.

I agree that Greg Crowe left the group as it is stated over on avery that PV said he took a Minister of Music job at his church. Mark Lanier was at NQC last year and on mainstage...But the replacement (Mitch) was a bit too convienent that Mark just up and left....He may have been pushed.

Mark Lanier was singing with PV in Texas in December of 2007. I checked out his website and he's very busy. More than once a month. :-)

If you have been following Poet Voices you would know no one has been fired. It's funny how people will register and sign up like (superstarsmom)under a different name just to stir the pot.

I will have to agree with you. There are a lot of those out there. Want to downgrade groups or individuals but are afraid to let their true identify be known.

Well I don't think they would intentionally commit career suicide.

I really liked the sound Poet Voices had with Mark Lanier. Their "Let It Be" and "Men of His Word" projects with songs like "Dear God," and "There's No Such Thing" were big winners with me. Lanier has one of the better baritone voices in the industry.

That said, if McVay is permanent, they will essentially be the new Poet Bridges which would make a very interesting group.

That does sound like an interesting combination. I am looking forward to seeing them because I was a fan of the original Three Bridges when Mitchel Jon and Dave McVay were part of the group. And I agree Let It Be and Men Of His Word were great recordings.

I have been following Poet Voices and the statement that people leaving no matter if they are fired or leave the group caught me off guard. Not wanting to stir anything up just wanted the true facts.

No reason to get alarmed. Artists leave or get fired (just like any job) from groups all the time. And listeners should realize that most of the time it is a mutual agreed upon business decision. Not all resignations/firings are veiled in scandal.
