Congratulations

Barb on your new grandson!

Your post about your mom reminded me my dad is dying. He's 86 and decided not to do anymore chemo so now it is just a matter of which gets him first old age or the cancer.

I came home from work last night and the boys told me I had a new sun roof in the house. All the furniture was piled in the living room. To move around the furniture I go into the kitchen and then I see the new sun roof. Evidently my 15 year old son and my 12 year old grandson were playing ball and threw the ball directly at our patio door. It smashed to smithereens, glass was everywhere.

The glass people came today and gave hubby the bad news, the french patio doors cannot have glass replaced instead a whole new patio door will have to be ordered. I priced them a few years ago and we are talking over a $1000. No way we have that kind of money so guess we will be putting up a board over the window area. Hope it is possible.

And brrr...it is cold.

Ginny

Ginny, I'd get a second opinion on that and even a third.

I had good news and bad news today.

Good news: My son who is a freshman in high school is getting a Presidential Prestigious Award Tuesday, May 13th. School called today and the Award will be presented on a plague, he will receive a cash award, and have his picture taken for the paper. He will be recognized as being a leader amongst the students and for his 4.0 and his achievements in sports. His name has already been in the paper for being in three sports: wrestling, baseball, and football.

Bad news:My lawyer didn't file the bankruptcy today as he said he would. Seems with my paycheck going in automatically today that my bank account will show too much money in it so the lawyer said they would file Monday. Monday I had not planned on going to court because I thought I could go by the courthouse today with my case number and avoid this court appearance. Now I have to go to court again on Monday and this is the fourth time for this credit card. If I don't have a case number I don't know what will happen.

I'm glad you got some good news Ginny, and I'm praying God takes care of the rest! Congrats to your son!

And I agree with Maggie, another opinion or more on the glass sounds like a good idea.

Ginny, that's awesome about your son! Congratulations!

I read what you posted in your thread before I came here. I don't know how the details are going to work out for you but I refuse to believe that God who is blessing you so much in your outreach to the neighbour would then turn around to leave you high and dry with your financial problems. He knows your heart and he knows your circumstances. He points us to the lilies of the field and the birds of the air and says that since he cares so much about them that we can know he's caring about us too. I believe that for you.

I didn't get to bed until after 1:00 last night and I slept in getting up at 8:00. Hubby of course had the TV on as he normally does first thing in the morning. I am behind on my bible reading so I came to the computer room to read.

I obeyed the lawyer and took all the money out of the bank yesterday from my paycheck knowing that hubby had written some checks that hadn't cleared. I tried to do a stop payment on the automatic withdrawal I have for one loan and paid the money for the stop payment. Last night hubby checked the bank balance online and sure enough the automatic payment cleared even with the stop payment so this morning I need to go and pay the overdraft. And when the other checks come thru I will have to go to the bank and pay them and the overdrafts.

Hope the money holds out for all of this and we still have some for our needs the next two weeks as I won't get paid again for two weeks and hubby doesn't get paid again until June 1st.

There is so much cleaning that needs done in the house. Hubby went back to bed so cleaning our bedroom is out of the picture until he is up again. But there lots of other areas I could start on.

Am trying to tackle the laundry too. It takes a long time as the dryer keeps stopping before the clothes are dry and I have to keep checking it and restarting the dryer then hoping the clothes dry before it stops again.

Isn't it a great day! The sun is shining, the air is fresh and cool and my house is quiet with all the kids gone to St. Louis. I really must take advantage of this day.

Hope all of you are doing well.

Ginny

The sun is SUPPOSED to be shining here but it isn't. Not at all. Poor dh. He's having a yard sale and he could have benefitted from a sunny day.

I'm praying that all your financial stuff will work out, Ginny.

Thanks Maggie.

I just got back from the bank. I deposited cash to cover the stopped payment withdrawal that didn't get stopped. I asked the teller if I will have an overdraft fee and she said because I deposited cash I may not have one.

I hope that works out Ginny.

It's cloudy here too Maggie.

My middle daughter is in Kansas City for a school trip; it looks like they might have gotten a bit of rain, but it looks like some bigger rains missed them.

I spent my afternoon with three of the people who proofed my book, getting their feedback. I've got some good things to chew on and hopefully I can take the changes they've suggested that I'm accepting and get them done in the next few days. I want to get this show on the road, so to speak.

I'm very tired but when I got home, dh came to me all excited because a classmate of his from 40 years ago is in town and looked him up. I don't think they've had contact since high school so it's really quite amazing that he was able to find dh since the school they attended was on the other side of the world and there are a ton of people with dh's first and last name. So we're going to go visit.

I don't really want to go but dh did something he never does. When I asked him if it was important for me to go, at first he took that as a statement that I won't go but when I told him it was a question, he said, "Well, it's nice for them to see my beautiful other half." Wow! Now why couldn't have have been saying things like that for the past nearly 35 years of our marriage? When he puts it like that, how can I refuse to go?

Your dh's statement was a definite ego booster statement. Way to go Maggie, he's finally noticing. Let us know when all is finalized on your book. And yes it is amazing the two high school friends found each other.

Banana bread is in the oven. I promised a loaf of banana bread to someone at church who both he and his wife have cancer. She's going through chemo right now and having a hard time.

Happy Mother's Day

I going to call my mother this morning. My card didn't get off until Friday so she won't get it until next week.

My oldest son's 30th birthday was Friday; my daughter will turn 28 next week and my 54th birthday is later this month. Hubby asked me if I mind having a 30 year old child and I said, "No, not at all. I like the age I am at better than any other age I've been. I like being middle age. It is the prime of my life."

Ginny, you are such a giving person! I wish I could be more like that. And I'm with you about the age thing. I don't want to go back to any of my younger years.

I'm with you two! No way would I go back in time . . love this age, really, except for the energy level and the aches & pains; but somehow these aches & pains don't seem nearly as bad as the emotional pain and worries of some of my younger years. Nope, this time of life is OK . . . . Now I think I'll just go take a nap

It was supose to be this beautiful graphic of a victorian mother holding a rose and sayingHappy Mother's Day. Y'all will have to use your imagination. Sorry!
So far my M Day has been good. Late morning my DS and DIL plus my grandson took me out to Sizzlers for an early lunch. Then because it is the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel there was a celebration on the State Capitol grounds with music, food, dancing and booths to buy Judaica (Jewish stuff). Met up with some of the gang that go to my synagogue. It was a nice relaxing time to stroll around with hubby and fellowship. At 6pm we are meeting DD, SIL and the three other grands for a dinner at Greek Village Inn. I am indeed a blessed woman!

Sounds like a beautiful time, Marsha! Glad you got to enjoy your day. I guess in comparison my MD was but we've gotten some more things accomplished here at the house, and I feel good about that.

I'm glad your hubby was so sweet Maggie, and that you went with him.

Sounds like a nice day Marsha!

Leah, Mother's Day wasn't much here either. But it's OK. Hubby worked and E worked. And I discovered some unauthorized charges on my phone bill.

I don't like church much on mother's day because I feel for all the "would be" moms who are hurting that day.

My son made a cute thing with his picture on it at school. My middle daughter took my youngest skating and to play at the nearby school. My oldest looked at me before she went to work and said "I have no time to do anything for mother's day. You're always telling me to go study. Thanks for that. We'll have to do something another time." It was sweet actually, because it was said with love. And I knew she had no time last week or this week.

Glad you enjoyed your day Marsha.

Dee, cute thing with his picture on it. That's precious. And the other daughter telling you, "You are always telling me to study." That's a great testimony to give. It's those kinds of things they will remember as an inspiration later on in life.

Well, I do not have permission not to be at work today but I have to be at the courthouse and it is not optional. And tomorrow is when my son receives his Presidential Academic Award and I must be there or it will be remembered I wasn't. The job may be jeopardized but these things have to be done too.

I am in trouble with my boss. She is not happy with me over something that happened on Friday. And I mean really not happy.

Would love some prayer on these things. For grace under fire so to speak.

Ginny
