It wouldn't be eloping if you take all your friends and family with you, now, would it? It would just be an alternate location. -- Which wouldn't be a bad idea either, if they all could attend.

Please . . . for those of y'all that have dreamt of and planned your future wedding, do not in any way take this as a personal affront. I'm just sharing how I view things and how I operate; I'm not slamming anyone. Not at all. This thread was for each person to express their own way they'd do things, not for everyone to fit in one mold. You are just as much entitled to your opinion as anyone else. Ya know, I say tomato, you say tomotto, kinda thing.

did i mention i got married in a funeral home, too? Care to expound on this one, Kimberly? well...like CoeurdeLeon said...it was pragmatic. my husband-to-be had just had his 4th back surgery (unexpectedly...we'd been rear-ended fairly gently, but it still dislodged the cage they'd put around his spine about a year earlier)...and our marriage license was going to expire the next day. so when he got released from the hospital...we were instructed to stop for prescriptions...then go straight home! but......we called around, and the only jp (justice of the peace...it was in GA...a southern-thing to this IL girl) was on duty at the funeral home less than a mile from our house. there were no services that afternoon...so we hobbled in, had a quick little ceremony in our shorts and t-shirts (well...i dressed up...i had on a polo)...signed the paper...and had him in bed in less than 30 minutes! he was on bed-rest for the next 2 weeks...so guess what our "honeymoon" was like! giggle Ohhh (((((Kimberly)))))

Today, (meaning it could change at any moment) I think it would be fun to get married on Disney's Big Red Boat and have as many members of the family(friends too) there as can come. After the cruise the kids can head to Disney World with designated family members and he and I would head to one of the islands (to be decided later) nearby to finish out the honeymoon.

ORIGINAL: CoeurdeLeon I had a very small wedding the first time and, should I ever get remarried, I would probably have an even smaller one. Me, him, minister, kids, couple of witnesses and brunch for we few after. Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah, so. Ya wanna know how pragmatic I am? When people talk about getting married on the beach or in some other scenic spot, all I can think about are the logistics of getting all the wedding....stuff...to the spot and then somebody having to haul it away. I think about sand in people's shoes and the ocean breeze ruining all the pretty hairdos. I am seriously just very weird. OH! I was invited to an outdoor wedding once. It was to be held in a beautiful square with a lovely gazebo in Atlanta. We got there and it started to rain. The couple ended up exchanging vows in a bar across the street. Okay, that is the sum total of what I have to say about weddings. When I think about outdoor weddings, all I can think about is what could go wrong too. Mine was outside on a beautiful sunny day. The sun was in my eyes and I had to squint through the entire ceremony I also ended up with sunburn on one half of my face. My pastor is very long winded.LOL I still occasionally think a reception in a tent at sunset would be nice though.

OK, now you guys just gave me a mental picture of a wedding dress where the train has a model train track glued on it, and on the track is a model train going round and round all through the ceremony.
