I started to write a post yesterday sometime and somehow other things took over and it never happened.

quote:

I don't think there's anything curious about it. Men can be like that, they just like to be with their wives for what seems like no reason at all.

It's curious because I can't recall him ever doing this before. It's kind of nice, though it is taking time to get used to.

quote:

How are you feeling today?

I know you asked this yesterday, but I'm answering today. I'm doing okay. I couldn't sleep last night--after not sleeping much the night before--so I slept all day today. Didn't get up until about 6:00. And then I felt nauseous. I've eaten now and I think I feel better. I was finally able to get into my online banking and see that Employment Insurance has come through and deposited three months' worth of payments into my account. That was a nice surprise to find. I'm also feeling well enough that I think I'll just use the couch for the daytime and actually sleep in the bed starting tonight. I'm managing the stairs quite well.

Ouch on the teeth, Pengie! Liz Curtis Higgs is good. I really enjoyed her "Mad Mary"--a modern retake on the story of Mary Magdalene.

Trish, I know you haven't posted it here but you've really been having a hard time so I want to give you a hug: {{{{{{{{{Trish}}}}}}}}}

Lexie! Cool to see you here and posting! I'll send you a pm. It always helps to have connections.

Shaunii, what are you growing in your garden? I'm sure it must be a great change from studying. Ick about the laptop. "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" doesn't sound like light fiction to me. It's got some pretty heavy themes.

I finished another novel last night. This one was "Blink" by Tedd Dekker. It really had me hooked. It discussed things like, does God really exist? And gave a really cool glimpse into what it means to have faith. It's a high-paced thriller with lots and lots of action. The stakes involve stability or chaos in the Middle East with international repercussions and the main characters are a young Arabian princess and a university student who could very possibly have the highest IQ in the world. It is definitely a must read. I think thinking about it is what helped keep me awake last night.

I can understand that it would be curious to you because he's never done that before. All I'm saying is that I'd like to see it continue.

You're welcome, Trish.

Yes, Ben. I do want to see it continue. I think I know what has facilitated this. I usually use my computer at the dining table. I think dh finds sitting at the dining table unpleasant or uncomfortable. But since coming home from the hospital, I've been on the living room couch. So now there's a comfy chair for him to come and sit in. As a result, I'm thinking of using the living room more. It's brighter in here also. But then I can't use my "happy" lamp (for seasonal affective disorder) or have the printer connected to my computer so I'll have to figure out some solutions.

Dove, that was awesome that your CA125 was only 6. Mine came back last week and it was 17.

Hi everybody.

17 is a good number Trish. I was overwhelmingly surprised when they told me it was 6 again. The doc who told me he would only give me paliative care a year and half ago said my numbers would never go back down again, they would gradually increase even with treatment. This is the third time we've brought it back down to under 10. Now to keep it there.

WOW! That's so awesome, Dove! Thank you, God!

Yeah. There's just the small matter of then making the living room cluttered and looking like an office. Although, if I feel free to do that to the dining room, I suppose the living room isn't much different.

Hi Joy!

I'm trying to decide if I have the energy to go to church or not. I've had my shower and dressed but I'm sitting here now, pretty tuckered out. I have about 40 minutes to decide.

Well, I made it to church today. Woooo Hooooo! I really wasn't sure I could do it because I would use up all my energy just getting ready plus I hadn't driven since the surgery. But God woke me up at 6:00 this morning and I couldn't get back to sleep so I was able to shower and dress and then sit and rest for an hour and a half before leaving for church. I didn't want to use up more energy fixing breakfast so I stopped at McDonald's on the way to church. I've had a craving for ice cream so on the way home I went hunting for a good ice cream place that didn't have major congestion problems. Having succeeded at that, I pushed my luck and went to my favourite European bakery and café to order my favourite meal from there, to go, and some delicious pastries for ds2 and me (dh doesn't like them). But I really over did it so now I'm on the couch with my feet up on the coffee table, a towel spread beside me on the couch so I can eat and drink without making too much damage. Life is good.

And my very, very dear friend who has been in Nepal the past four months with her husband and daughters came back home this week so I got to see her at church. Oh man! It was good to see her. When worship was over, I asked her how it feels to be back in her home church and I could see, just from the look on her face, that she really misses Nepal and the church there. She and her husband are already talking about when they'll go back.

I decided that in this new church of mine, it's important for me to get connected to a small group. I asked about them and of the ones I was told about, the women's group sounded good. Well, it was still in the process of being formed but was told the first meeting would be in June. I've missed so much church though, because of my respiratory flu and then surgery, that I was sure I missed out but no! The first time is this week.

That's so cool! I'm sorry you've missed so much church lately - but that happens.

By the way, you used to have a website or something about how you used to be in a homosexual lifestyle - could I have the link? Thanks! We had a discussion about gay marriage and if being gay was a sin in Sunday school today. It was interesting.

Sure, Darcy! Tell me what you'd like--here or in a pm/e-mail. When my kids were little I was part of a women's Bible study group that met one morning a week. I loved it. For some reason that I don't recall, it folded or I left and I was without a small group for quite a few years. When I left the church I raised my kids in, I went to a house church which was small enough that we didn't need small groups but when the new leadership took over, we did form a couple of small groups and I was one of them. Unfortunately, the person intended to lead ours wasn't very good at it and it eventually sizzled out. This is a new small group of women only that's beginning this week so I'm hoping that it will grow strong. But even if it doesn't, I'll have gotten to know a few people a bit better, I'm hoping.

Slushie! You were posting while I was writing so I didn't see what you wrote right away (wouldn't have seen it at all except that I scrolled up for some reason. (I wonder how many posts I've missed that way.)

I've closed down the website I used to have but most of what was there is still available at these two locations: http://magdaleine.blogspot.com/
and
http://magdaleine2005.blogspot.com/

I am interested in hearing more about your discussion at church about homosexuality.

Hiya, Slushiegirl! Long time no post, chica!

Maggie, my group meets on Friday mornings for breakfast, since we all have different jobs and weird hours. We have four guys, three women (including me), and all of us are leaders in the congregation in one way or the other, though my jobs are unofficial. We've become very close since the group started, not quite a year ago. On occasion, it's not serious and meetings can wander off track from time to time into church business, but usually we'll all have a bit of time to tell the group about where we are in our faith walk for the week. If someone needs to talk, they have the time, all the time they need.....

And if someone needed someone to talk to, this group is the one to do it with. We have a pastor, a pastoral counselor, a social worker, and a former youth psychologist. Oh, plus one of our guys is a nuclear engineer, so we have no lack of brainpower running here! I'm the least educated of the group, since I'm working on my BA (I'm starting my junior year in August), but I hold my own and I'm a good listener with a lot of "real world" experiences that the other members can occasionally use.

These folks are my brothers and sisters for real, and I know if I need help I can get it, even if it's just someone to listen to me, or give me a hug. And I'd do just about anything for them, they live the life of faith in a way that I want to emulate. I'm honored to be a part of this bunch.

I'm sure it will, sweets. I wish more people would get involved in a group of some kind, it's hard to hide when you have people who get to know you well. We need to have not only the larger community of our church, but the smaller family around us to help us walk the walk with some kind of honesty.

Hey, I DID tell you I tend to go on about this subject, right?

I have a lot of contact with 'em, outside of our meetings. Two are on staff at the church, one's married to staff, and two of 'em are in my band!

Which means that if I'm feeling down or moody, someone's likely to ask me what's up and expect an answer!

That's awesome! I think dh and I have somehow got to get connected into a small group together. I suspect that would really help our marriage. Going to different churches, however, poses a problem with that. Though I think he's getting more interested in coming to mine.
