I bought an Epilady Traveler epilator a couple of weeks ago and my legs are hair free! No more waxing! No more shaving! WOOHOO!

Anyone else have an epilator? It's my new favorite invention.

Ouch! Does it hurt like plucking?

I have one. The best thing for me is that I don't get razor stubble anymore.

I'm a terrible person to ask about pain in these situations, because I've been waxing for more than a decade and I just don't mind it.

It is similar to waxing, no worse, no better. I personally find plucking more painful than putting wax on and ripping all the hairs out at one time. (I'm referring to eyebrows there, though.)

I have one and I love it, except that I get ingrown hairs on my legs when I use it there. I normally shave there... but otherwise I use epilation.

A note to the "scared" it hurts less when you only do that method of hair removal because of the stuff that builds up in the pore when you shave. You have to keep up with it to understand becaiuse the first time is the most painful. Also, it hurts more for the first few moments and then your leg/ underarm goes numb and it doesn't hurt at all.

I have one, but I've been a real weanie about trying it out. Maybe I'll let my legs get hairy for a couple days and give it a try.

I guess it depends on the brand, but it shouldn't take too long before you can try it. I've been a little shocked at how short some of the hairs are that are getting ripped out.

Also to add...I've been checking for new hairs every few days or so. It takes some time to get all of them removed, since they are growing at different intervals.

I've also been using it on my underarms. WOOHOO!

Anything that makes you go numb can't be good for you.....can it?

It's only temporary! It doesn't cause nerve damage.

Of course not - it just causes folk to go "WOO HOO!" to pain, and that's good, hmmmm ..........

Imagine...

<cue music>

a summer of smooth, hair-free legs...smooth, hair-free underarms...
just in time for capris, shorts, swimsuits.

No wasting time in the morning (or evening) shaving...no buying expensive disposable razors...no razor burn.

Seriously, they should pay me for this.

Sounds like something I would like.

I find facial waxing and plucking to be painless. I'm weird, I guess.

I got a bikini wax for my wedding, and while it was horribly painful, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love love love hairless skin.

Does the epilady work like plucking/waxing -- after a while the hairs get thinner and texture and some may never grow back?

So they say. I've been waiting all these years for my follicles to be so damaged frm waxing that no hair comes back...but no such luck.

I'm the same. The hairs are finer, but no less of them They have a different tapered end than when shaving, so they are softer.

I've got one like that machine although I rarely use it. I prefer waxing.

The best thing to minimize pain when you use epilady is to take a shower, dry your skin and apply some talc powder. In this way it's less painful and actually after a while your skin becomes numb to the pain. Mind you this comes from a sensitive lady who hates pain.

My MIL swears it does, and she's been using an Epilady for almost 12 years. She is actually the one who gave me mine. Oh, she uses it on her under arms as well and swears it doesn't hurt that bad

Waxing? Absolutely. Even tho I don't use it since I don't use it for my face.

Sort of. They have smaller models that are better suited for your face.
