That about sums it up. Considering that 'occult' simply means hidden, I would say Todd Bentley and Fresh Fire Ministries is not just bordering on the occult. They are into the occult, complete with spirit guides and the promotion of receiving special hidden knowledge through apparitions and trances and visitations to the alleged 'heavenly realms'. There is an undeniable obsession for power, 'deeper knowledge', trips to heaven, and 'special' revelations that go beyond what has been revealed or instructed in scripture. I know this is long [sorry!!], but these examples are just scratching the surface of what FFM is teaching and I wanted those who don't know to be aware:
LINK: Let me give you a little background. I was impacted years ago, and first introduced to this kind of intimacy, through the ministries of Benny Hinn and Kathryn Kuhlman. They opened the way for me to go beyond the power of God’s Spirit, the gifts or any kind of experience like the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
LINK: However, let me point out here that many of you may have heard God’s voice and even prophesied, maybe a little on Sunday or a little song of the Lord here and there—you’ve had the inspiration, the unction and the leading of the Spirit. But that’s not the realm I’m talking about; I am talking about the extreme level of the prophetic—visitations of angels, trances, visions and visits into the third heaven. I believe God wants to speak in these “extreme” ways as well as through promptings and the still small voice.
When I began to see in scripture how natural these experiences were, I realized that I could also have trances like Peter; that I, like the apostle Paul, could go into paradise; and that I, like Ezekiel, could be taken by the Spirit into visions of God. I started expecting, not just the prophetic, the still small voice, the little divine thoughts, or the body impressions of other people’s pains or sicknesses. My faith started growing for experiencing God in a whole new realm, a realm of supernatural revelation common for those walking in the seer anointing. I started to believe that I could have a seer anointing like Elisha.
If we want to see in the spirit, we must use the powerful key of sanctified imagination to unlock visions and dreams. What do you think about when preachers say, “I saw in the spirit?” Often, we automatically think they saw with their natural eyes. I have helped bring so many people into the heavenly realm by teaching them to look with their spiritual eye and to stop asking, “Where is it? Where is the angel? Where? I don’t see him—where?” We have to begin to see with our “third eye”—the eye on the inside, in our imagination. I showed you this eye in Ephesians 1—it is called the “eyes of your understanding.” You don’t see spiritual things with natural eyes; you see them with the eyes of your heart, your spiritual eyes! I believe that 90 percent or more of all visions and revelations happen in the eye of our hearts, in our imagination.
LINK: Friends, I believe there comes a “place” where there is an invitation for each and every one of us to pray for spiritual understanding, for the eyes of our hearts to be opened, and for us to be filled with the spirit of wisdom and revelation. It’s an atmosphere where we can make ourselves available to receive solid teaching and guidelines from God’s word to help us exercise our spiritual senses. Also, it’s where we can learn to open and sanctify our imagination, and begin to have the eyes of our understanding enlightened (the mind’s eye) whereby we begin to touch the dimension of seeing—the dimension of visions, trances, dreams, and angelic visitation.
Why? One reason is because the “dimension of seeing” goes hand in hand with the seer anointing, and God wants to give us that anointing. God is emphasizing Revelation Chapter 1, verse 4 (above), opening it up, issuing an invitation into the throne zone—the third heaven—and into the anointing represented in that particular scripture. What’s more, we need to receive this whole invitation just as eagerly as we have received the prophetic dimension.
There’s been a real emphasis in the last 10 years or so on the prophetic—“you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged” (1 Cor. 14:31)—that’s edification and exhortation. It’s good, but the open heavens dimension is different from the prophetic dimension. Right now, God isn’t marking just “prophetic people” and all that this term implies, as good as it is. He is moving us beyond that into a greater dimension for experiencing the third heaven level—just a greater experience and expression of God in more of a seer’s dimension—for the days we live in demand it!
LINK: Now let me talk about an angelic experience. Twice Bob Jones asked me if I had seen a particular angel that was in Kansas City in 1980. He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. He told me that this angel helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980’s as well as helping to nurture the prophetic as it broke out. ... As I stared at this angel, I sensed the Lord saying that this was the angel that Bob Jones was speaking about. This angel appeared to be floating a couple of inches off the floor emitting brilliant light and colors. The angel began walking up and down the aisles of the church putting gold dust on people. “God, what is happening?” I asked. The Lord answered: “This angel is releasing the gold, which is both the revelation and the financial breakthrough that I am bringing into this church. I want you to prophecy that the angel’s appearance is a sign that I am endorsing and releasing a prophetic spirit in the church.” See, when angels come, they always come for a reason; we need to actually ask God what the purpose is. Within three weeks of that visitation, the church had given me the biggest offering I had ever received to that point in my ministry. Thousands of dollars! Thousands!...
During this visitation the pastor’s wife (it was an AOG church) got totally whacked by the Holy Ghost— she began running around barking like a dog or squawking like a chicken as a powerful prophetic spirit came on her. Also, as this prophetic anointing came on her, she started getting phone numbers of complete strangers and calling them up on the telephone and prophesying over them. She would tell them that God gave her their telephone number and then would give them words of knowledge. Complete strangers. Then angels started showing up in the church. I believe this angel released a financial and prophetic anointing in that place. The people in the church began having trances and visions and the pastor began getting words of knowledge and moving in healing.
LINK: "The very beginning of the conception experience of Jesus is marked by a heavenly visitation granted to Mary, the person chosen to "bring forth the Son!" Likewise, if we want to bring forth the Son in our lives then we have to learn to access heavenly realms, because that is where the seed of heaven comes from. The Lord is currently raising up and training a remnant of people who will dwell in heavenly places, through the spirit of wisdom and revelation. These ones, marked by Throne Room encounters, will carry that atmosphere to the world with them! Anyone who has ever had an encounter with the Lord in the heavenly realms is marked by that experience forever. There will always be an element of heavenly DNA and atmosphere that these people will carry with them. Can you imagine a people who learn to dwell in heavenly realms and carry that presence with them at all times? This characteristic will mark each member of the great and terrible army that the Lord is raising up in these end-times!
The first key to realize here is that the conception of Jesus began with an angelic visitation from the realm of heaven! Our God is jealously seeking a people who will ascend the hill of the Lord and dwell in the throne room of heaven... The only way to see spiritual blessings in heavenly places turned into manifestations of blessing in the natural realm is to access the heavenly places and bring them back with you. Our promises are accessed in the heavenly realm where we are seated with Christ!"
