I have currently been dialoging back and forth with a blogger/pastor who supports and promotes Todd Bentley/Lakeland. His blog is HERE

I have invited him here to, perhaps, be the first person to actually show us with the Word of God how this is all from Him.

Did you see this link? It was a link from the page you referenced.

This from that site:

quote:

Finally, Todd got up to "preach." Now, I put the word preach in quotes because what I observed of Todd's messages could not be characterized as preaching by even the loosest definition of the term. He did not read and explain any text of Scripture. He basically performed and told dramatic stories of people being healed. Then came time for the healing to begin. Todd said, 'If you are sick, I want you to begin doing something that you could not do before. You have to activate your faith by doing something you couldn't do before. If you're in a wheelchair, get up out of that wheelchair and start walking. If you couldn't move your legs, start moving them.' Well, I'm sitting in the wheelchair section (in my own electric chair) and so people all around me began trying to get out of their wheelchairs. Family members began trying to coax their loved ones out of their chairs and people on crutches stood up trying to walk without them. There was a large man sitting next to me in a wheelchair who was paralyzed from the waist down. He began to try to inch his way to the edge of his seat. His wife and a young lady who I presumed was his daughter encouraged him along. There was another lady standing over him speaking in tongues. Well, this man got to the edge of his seat, slid off, and crumpled to the floor like a rag doll. His wife and daughter kept encouraging him to "just believe." The other lady kept up her tongues. This went on for a good half hour and the poor man could do nothing. They finally helped him back into his chair. (Probably just didn't have enough faith, you see.)

Angers me and saddens me to no end...

earthless,
Thanks for the invite. HOWEVER, as I stated on my email back to you, I DO NOT endorse anyones ministry. I may make positive or negative observations from time to time, but there are no links between LBOLM and any other ministry.
There are no links in our blogroll for that same reason.
If you and your readers take the time to review the post I have done since last October, you would see that.
Thanks again for the invite.

You and me both earthless.

"NOT ENOUGH FAITH" arggggggggggggg

They do what they are told, nothing happens, and they don't have faith.

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

No Word of God, no faith, no miracle.

That's why John Avanzini had to write his book "It ain't working, Brother John."
Because people were doing exactly what he told them to do and nothing happened.
It ain't his fault, it's the people who listened to him. another argggggggggggg.

I'm saddened by the state those souls are in.
I'm angered by this "mantra" that keeps leading everyone astray.

"Do something you couldn't do before." How many times have I heard that
over the last 40 years or so?

Hello to lbolm!

-------------------

Something else from Saturday night's Lakeland show I have forgotten to mention until now...you all know the emphasis on "fire, fire, fire"?
The guest speaker, Jeff somebody, got the crowd chanting "fie--yeur" in the manner of the Ohio Players' song. He even vocalized the musical accompaniment so there was no doubt he was borrowing from that song. They chanted "fie--yeur" for several minutes.

In case you've missed 'em, lotsa biblical references to "fire" are a part of a judgment.

I just read that report by justin (the man in the wheelchair who went to one of bentley's meetings). i am sitting here with tears in my eye at how horrible this junk is. and people are falling for it.

what saddens me is that people will make fun of and criticize good true men of God, meanwhile this other junk is going on.

I just dont know what is going on.

I know God is still on the thone allowing this to happen for His purposes whatever they may be.

it cant get any worse!!!!

That is fine, but as an adult, as a self-professing Christian you can and do hold judgments on what lines up with the Word of God and what does not.

Yes and there are several references to being "baptized by fire" from John the Baptist in reference to Jesus. There is also that thing that happened on the day of Pentacost, you know. "cloven tongues of fire".
And then God's presence appeared as a "pillar of fire" in the OT when leading Israel in the wilderness. AND BTW, God appeared as a "burning bush" to Moses and that didn't seem to have anything to do with judgement.

Just a note about that link.

Brother Justin mentioned a Pastor Larry. This is the pastor that died from his cancer just a week or two after he was "healed" by Bentley.

Better make sure its not "strange fire" as was told in the Old Testament.

Better make sure its not the fire that accompanies the inhabitants of hell.

Can't we get a bunch of real true Christians together and go pray around one of his meetings and stop this shenanigans??? kind of like the way Elisha called fire out of heaven.

Cant we do anything like bind him, as jesus told us, whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven?

CAN ANYTHING BE DONE TO STOP THIS???

earthless,
That is a loaded question if I ever saw one, but here I go stepping right in for a slam dunk back at me.
I have some problems with TB and his theology.
That being said, I have some problem with Billy Graham, and many of the "mainline" teachers out there today. I have a problem with the Pope and the RCC.
I see that we ALL only "know in part" and that upon the second coming of Jesus, we will then learn the fullness of scripture.
I am not a theologian and don't pretend to be, but I nkow when I hear my Fathers voice. AND yes, there are many voices out there crying Lord, Lord and doing things in the name of Jesus!! But, when the day comes they stand before their maker, it is their decisions now that will convict them then.

A few things - no one is asking for a "perfect" preacher, but to adhere to the core essentials of Christianity.

"In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.."

The core essentials are what make Christianity, well, Christian. They serve as the line of demarcation between what is biblical Christianity and what is from the kingdom of the cults.

The problem here is that Todd's teachings and claims on the core essentials of Christianity do not pass the test of Scripture. They reveal a jesus that is foreign to the Jesus of Scripture, etc..

Todd attributes his conversion experience to a demon named Emma-O (all documented heavily in this thread) and his claims do not stand in light of Scripture. He has also spoken failed/false prophecies which, according to God, make him a false prophet.

Did you watch the last video shared from this past weekend's services/baptisms? I want to know how we can reconcile its contents with the Bible.

Why do you need "a bunch of real true Christians" to do what you suggest. You said that Jesus told you to do it, WELL, take a step of faith and do it then !!

And BTW, here is a teaching that claims that what you "bind on earth" you become bound to, as in coming to agreement with. Be careful of that binding and loosing thing unless you know what you are doing !

I've been deemed less than enlightened by Charasmaniacs as well. We aren't the ones kicking cancer patients in the stomach and we're less spiritual? Go figure.

This is really offensive and hurtful. I'm charismatic and condemn Lakeland and WOF unequivocally. What if I referred to you as a Fundeadmentalist? Wouldn't be too Christ-like would it? Again, really, really insulting.

Son,

Notice the word used was "Charismaniacs", not "Charismatics."

I feel like it was an intentional play on words to make a point about these types.

I am also Charismatic, but I did not feel insulted by it.

Just to be clear, I was referring to the more nutty Charasmatics. Charasmaniacs is a term a friend and I use and I didn't think about people not knowing it or reading it wrong.

But....

I am honored to be referred to as a fundamentalist. Thank you.

But, shouldn't all who are called be held to the same standards?
As a pastor, teacher, or evangelist, we are held accountable to God for what we teach and preach. There is not one standard that is for this guy and another that is applicable to this guy.

I have to go for today, but I will check back from time to time.

It's all good. I usually have an awesome sense of humor (see my post on who I look up to for teachers I just thought you were lumping all charismatics with the blasphemy going on in Florida. I see now you weren't. By the way, I too used a play on words. I didn't write fundamentalist, take a closer look at my witty prose.
