McGuinessMagee -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 4:53:27 AM)

I got home so late from work this evening. I just had one of those days where I got nothing typed up and tomorrow I have training in the morning and would have had no chance to catch up.

I work in an area where you don't walk the streets at night. One of the other women who works there but has a car space under the building offered me a lift to my car so I wouldn't have to walk out to where I was parked out on the street.

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 8:40:44 AM)

Good morning Ladies! [:D] It's been quite awhile for me here...I hope everyone is doing well. Life has been very busy but wonderful for me. I FINALLY got married last month!

We took my in-laws to see Graceland this past weekend and God was definitely looking out for us through Arkansas, we missed all of the tornadoes. The weather wasn't pleasant for driving but it could have been far worse.

God bless!

Glad to see you Meghan [:)]

Got any pics from your trip?

Roberta, thats great your sister is going too.

It was nice.

However, sis was mad at me because she and I were having a private conversation at home and I asked her for her viewpoint on something that is going on in one of the churches I attend. She asked why I wanted her opinion and I told her that it's because she's unchurched. She was upset about that thinking that I was saying that she's not a Christian. So, we had a talk about Christianity and she maintains that she is indeed a Christian. A lot of things that she pointed out about her faith are clearly non-Christian. I was going to attempt to point out where some of those beliefs contradict the Bible but she told me that the Bible is a good book, but it's not accurate.

I asked her if she's read the Bible. She confessed that she hasn't. So I pointed out to her that she can't even really say it's a good book since she hasn't read it. She told me that she works with a lady pastor who has given her most of her guidance spiritually in the last few years.

I asked her how she knew this woman was telling her what the Bible says and she says it's because she trusts this woman.

So I am kind of at a loss about what to do about the situation. I've been praying for the words to say to sis. Right now nothing is coming to me.

Roberta, Its a tough situation, I will pray for you and your sister. Just keep trusting in God, and He will guide you.

DenimDiva -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 11:21:09 AM)

Thanks Jennifer!

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 12:33:40 PM)

Thanks Lexie, Erin & Fluff!

Erin, I did not honk but I did remember that you lived in AR. Can you explain the point of the roads that run RIGHT alongside of the highway that are used when you exit? I don't understand the point of having the road AND the highway going to the same places. Does that make any sense?

I just got back from my lunch break....I did birthday shopping for my youngest stepdaughter as we will be celebrating her birthday when we get the girls this weekend. At least it's all done now and all that is left is baking her cake. We are taking her and a few friends to do a Libby Lu party. It's all she's talked about for MONTHS. [:D]

Probably leftover from the old days when we didn't have interstate. Or for farmers and their tractors and such. I guess. I know in our town the interstate goes to the same place HWY 64 does. We take the "slow" way sometimes. If you took I-40 you probably went right though my town! Pretty cool huh? [8D]

When we travel on long distances via vehicle, we always take those roads. Nicer pace and you get to see more of the countryside.

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 12:48:56 PM)

The exits confused me. We stopped in Blythesville for lunch and getting off the highway took us to the "side road" and then we had to get from there to the actual road we wanted to exit on.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 12:52:05 PM)

We like our side roads here...we do things slower in the South[8D]

InBetweenDreams -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 12:53:56 PM)

Beth, whenever people help us move we feed them. And since I threw away most of our stuff we really don't have much to move at all which will be nice! Lorne said that people from work are going to help so I am glad for that.

Jewels, that is great news!

Kylie, too bad about not getting much done at work. I am glad that lady was willing to give you a ride to your car. [:)]

Meghan!!! Wow! So nice to see you here! [:D] Can't wait to see pictures. [;)]

Jennifer, lol about the thunderstorm! [:D]

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 12:56:23 PM)

Hey Nicole!!!!!!!! **hugs** Long time no talk! When are you, Lorne & all the pets moving?

InBetweenDreams -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 1:02:35 PM)

We are moving on the 31st. We could probably move a week earlier, but we already booked the truck and found help. Plus, it is a saturday move which makes it easiest for everybody. I am excited because this place is nicer than the place we are in now and then in 6 months we get to move into the place we bought!

How have you and your kids been doing? How is married life?! [:D]

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 1:49:30 PM)

Everyone is doing well. The kids have less than a month left of school for this year. I can't believe how quickly time has been flying! Jimmy & I have a little over two months before we leave on our "delayed' honeymoon and I'm very much looking forward to that. Married life is wonderful, amazing. We are both so happy and blessed. [:D]

solo_soprano22 -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 1:59:41 PM)

[8|] My friend told me she's poor (I understand saying you're a "poor college student"; I say that sometimes)... but she meant that she's "poor" because she has to buy on-sale clothes (from places like Parisian) instead of new ones. [&:] I do the same thing...although even on-sale clothes at Parisian/Belk cost a bit much, unless it's for a special occasion. I know a while ago she bought a jacket for like $200...and I think I probably could have gotten the same one for less than fifty dollars at less expensiver store than that. But of course, if she went a week without eating out and going to movies, I think she wouldn't be "poor." She can easily spend $50/wk on movies...maybe $35/wk on Starbucks.... over $120/wk on eating out (sometimes twice a day and not at inexpensive places all the time)... maybe $20 on weekly movie rentals... That's what... over $200/wk and that's not with gas or other necessities. I could take the money she uses on extras to buy lunch for 6+ weeks. But apparently she's poor. I know it's not her money she's spending, but she doesn't believe in saving anything anyway. (I was going to say she could save it in case something happens.) I'm trying to distance myself from her without letting her know that, but I just don't see how you say you're poor when you spend money like that (money that you don't have to waste)... All I ask for is food/gas money and if I need something, I ask for money for that. I guess the reason I don't go out much is because I know my dad works hard for the little we get...and tuition is high; it just doesn't feel right for me to do what she does, but we don't even think alike. I try to use my babysitting money for "outings."

On a side note, I went to campus this morning to ask chem. questions...then I get there and the entire dept. is dark and a janitor told me they were in a meeting. I thought about waiting for him, but it was 10:40am and he leaves at 11am. I'll just do it tomorrow. I'll have to do it soon anyway because monday is the last day of classes. [8|]

InBetweenDreams -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 3:20:12 PM)

I'm so happy for you Meghan! [:)]

Tamara, I know some "poor" people who live in an enormous home full of only expensive things. [8|] And then I hear about how poor they are. 'Tis annoying. Your friends sounds... fun. [8D]

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 3:22:30 PM)

Thank you Nicole. [:D] What is your avatar? A purse you made? It's really pretty!

InBetweenDreams -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 3:27:20 PM)

Actually it is a purse Stacy made for me. She makes purses now. It's all on her blog. [;)] I absolutely love it!

Bookaholic -> RE: May Flowers....Women's Chat Thread (5/6/2008 3:40:57 PM)

I love it, I will have to check out her blog. I am always looking for new purses.
