We have to get some housework done.

Going to a Mother/Daughter luncheon with my my neighbor's church. It turns out that my church is merging with a different church. I found out after my neighbor's invite that it's her church we're planning on merging with.... so that's pretty cool. Also, my sister, who will avoid any church-related activities is actually the one who accepted the invitation to go. That's really cool! Most of the folks on my block are unchurched and they all, but one, accepted the invite and are looking forward to going. More coolness!! This one lady has 12 unrelated women and girls attending.

Then back to housecleaning. My niece, J-7 is having a birthday party tomorrow, so she will now be known as J-8. Party favors, games, etc. to get put together. I am going to try to go to church this evening. More housecleaning. Then tomorrow there is church and a quick meeting after church and then home for the birthday party.

Thanks for the kudos on my presentation (link I put in the April chat thread); I have no clue what my grade will be, but I'll get an overall lab grade. I don't think it'll be that good because the lab that my partner attempted to do, he never completed.... so I know we got some big points off on it. But all I can do now is hope she didn't dock us much.

I'm in here studying for the GRE so I'll be back later. I had emailed the doctoral program I want to apply to, to ask what their minimum GPA and GRE scrores are that they'll accept...thinking he'd say 3.0 and 1150... But he replied back and said 3.0 and 1000, which seems really low, esp. since all the rest of the grad schools within that same university require an 1150 usually. I don't think he made a mistake, but I wonder why the GRE score is that low...even the other biology programs there require an 1100-1150. Then I looked to see who their current students are (there aren't many), and I discovered that a good number of them didn't have a science or research background and have no Master's (good for me, b/c I'm trying to skip that too). Most other programs I look at, even if the person didn't have a big science background, they had some science background. It's making me wonder how they choose who to let in, esp. with them being 3rd in the nation for pathology and saying how "competitive" it is to get in. Something just sounds off. I wonder how many applicants they have, but there's no way for me to figure that out.

One more thing then I'll get back to studying. Lol.

My friend (the one with issues that I've mentioned before here) wrote on my facebook wall telling me how spoiled/selfish one of her rich friends is and how her friend can't understand the "health problems" she's going through. (My friend's health problems aren't major; I think she's TRYING to make them sound major.) Anyway, I really just want to write on her wall and tell her she may want to look at herself before she goes and calls someone else rich/spoiled/selfish, and saying they "can't understand" anything. Weird.

Tamara- unfortunetly people like that don't seem to catch on to comments like that and then she will be upset with you for saying that she is selfish- which she is, but I am guessing that she doesn't see it that way.

Okay- so I still haven't gotten anything done yet today and it is now 4 pm. I have been communicating with my school for next year and they mentioned a conference that they are going to attend in July. Nothing had been said to me before now, but it is one of those that is all but required so I will have to go. It will actually work out okay, but I was planning on using that week to pack up at my parents and figure out what all I would move to my new house. So, I guess I will do it the week before. My father doesn't know what to do with me. He wants me home - actually at home - to see me and to have some help around the farm and pretty much this summer I am going to be anywhere but home It has been sort of funny though. A couple of weeks ago I had nothing planned for the summer and now I only have about 2 1/2 weeks where I don't have something going on and so those will have to be the weeks where I get ready to move. The thing is I really needed some time to work this summer so that I would have some money to live off of. I really don't like living on credit cards, but I may have no choice this summer if I don't have any time to actually work getting ready for my new job.

Okay- I must get something done, I must get something done, I must get something done........

Okay- I got something done My bed is made, and I packed up a few things. I have a very heavy suitcase of books to testify to the fact - though since it is that heavy of books, I may need to decide to leave a few here. The goal right now is to start figuring out what I will take home and what I will leave. I can only pack as many suitcases as I have (which is 6). So if I don't have enough room in the suitcases, some things will have to stay. But one suitcase can stay here (it is in bad shape which is why it is here) and two of them can go inside each other so I have 4 to actually use. But 6 if needed. But with the cost of extra/over-weight baggage, I would like to keep it as low as possible.

Sometimes I love the little things in life. Skittles (forgot I had a package here - I love them!!!!), shaving cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so expensive down here, that I usually just bring one down and when it is gone, it is gone. But I forgot that I was given a can for Christmas. It was given to me right before I left on vacation and so it didn't get put in the bathroom - so I just rediscovered it. I will enjoy my shower tonight (would love a bath, but it pretty impossible as I don't have a tub). And tomorrow I am suppose to get my nails done with some friends so that will be fun. Who knows, maybe I will get brave enough and get a hair cut yet. I feel in the mood for a little bit of pampering and change

Eh, my friend (yes, that friend) is having a Sex and the City party at the end of the month. Apparenlty she's told everyone I'm coming, but that really doesn't even sound appealing to me. She wants everyone to wear high heels, etc. I suppose to mimic the women in the show/movie. Niiiiiiice. I told her a year ago that I'd see the movie w/her, but I thought it'd be just us two (not the entire party gang). I'm really not that cool around a lot of people either. That's one reason why I don't go to parties that much.

So, for this one, I think not.

Off to study the espanol.

Oh, I've cleaned places that were beyond disgusting so I don't mind horror stories. I just find it so disturbing that people want to live in filth. Or that people don't ever think to clean up after themselves.

Jennifer, did you play mario kart? I did last night and it was neat, but kinda hard with 2 players. It would be easier full screen so I may try playing by myself tonight.

Tamara, I saw what she wrote and I just laughed. She just won't get it. And yuck to the party. I would never go. Stuff like that is just not for me.

Yeah, it's pretty cool, but not as good as I thought it would be. I don't like how there are 12 racers. It is just too annoying because there is always someone (with their name displayed above their car) in your way. 8 racers just makes more sense. The levels are pretty neat and a lot harder than other mario kart's so it takes time getting used to it. But it sure is fun playing with the wheel! My brother wasn't very happy that I beat him on our first couple of races. He is playing right now and I asked if I could play too, but he doesn't want to have the split screen so he said no. So now I am typing to you!

Yeah, we were wondering about the wheel thing- everything I saw said it was easier with a traditional controller, but to me the controller is half the fun of the wii.

My brother doesn't like using the wheel. I find it easier than the controller. And Lorne just passed all the levels using the wheel which made my brother annoyed. I've been wanting a wheel for mario kart for years so it is very cool! You just have to be patient and play with it for a while and learn how to control it. Once you get how it works it is a lot easier. My brother gave up right away.

See, I was figuring the nuisance would be in having to BUY 2 wheels, in addition to the cost of the game. It may go on our Christmas list though.

One wheel came with the game. Extra wheels are only $14.99.

Eh, unless I take someone to a party to accompany me, I usually don't go. I'm sociable, but not in a party/group kind of way, and I actually think parties are terrible for me for some psychological reason. She doesn't understand that; she probably thinks I'm making excuses, but I'm not subjecting myself to that kind of thing unless it's life/death. I know parties are a little traumatic for me, so I never usually volunteer to go. They just aren't for everybody. Plus I haven't seen her itching to meet MY friends, but I have to meet hers. I don't really care if she doesn't get it anymore. It seems like much of the stuff I say to her doesn't register anyway. Now I'm just like "Oh well." Plus she loves to act crazy and go all out...she'll probably enjoy it. What she can't seem to understand is that not everyone is like that and that's perfectly okay; some people just can't do parties.

I DID tell her I'd watch the movie with her, but I didn't say her and a group of strangers (the party group is going to the movie together)... and I didn't say I'd go to the party, but apparently she's promised everyone I'm coming. I'd didn't agree to all of that, lol.

No bueno.

Tamara, I know exactly what you mean. I like people, I just don't like crowds of them all at once.

We had a dinner at church last night. It was supposed to be a real get-to-know-people type of evening. I found it a really painful experience and got nothing of much benefit out of the entire evening.

Add to that dh started to feel ill (dizzy) halfeay through church and it was just an awful evening.

Yes, painful. That's the word I was looking for. Some people (maybe a lot of people) actually enjoy parties, but not me. It's a ton easier for me to meet people randomly on campus or something than try to be forced into it with a ton of new people.

It reminds me what one of my professors told us about parties that he goes to (or went to). He's around 70 yrs. old, but he's not old and feeble or anything. He taught me medical ethics/bioethics; he used to be an MD/orthopedic surgeon (and a bunch of other things before that)...has a doctorate in physiology, was the dean of a large medical school, and a pastor (I think he has two religion/theology degrees and was ordained). He's also plays cello in orchestras. He's married to another MD who currently teaches hs now...I guess cause she's getting on up there (as is he). Lol.

Anyway, I would think he'd fit in well at a party, but he told us he's terribly shy (as is his wife), and any time they go to a party they are just off by themselves. He said it's so bad for them that they've stopped going to parties, or will just go to the event and not the party part. I guess that's how I am, but I don't consider myself to be shy. The way parties are set up (esp. hers) are just bad. I can meet one new person at a time, but a party I just can't subject myself to. I have a feeling she thinks everyone should be like her and be crazy about parties, but that's just not how everyone is. It seems like she doesn't understand that it's actually unpleasant for some people to the point where they don't go.

I'm sorry that your dinner was painful though... the last time I was at one I volunteered to serve people so I didn't have to attempt so socialize. Lol.

We haven't been at this church long enough for me to actually know there was an event coming up to volunteer for. The first I heard about it was when I got the SMS telling me it was on and that arrived on Friday afternoon.

((Solo))- I'm much the same way. I can "do" parties, but what I usually do is try to find one person that I can relate to, and then chat with them for a while. Doesn't always work, in which case I'd be the person sitting off in the corner watching everyone else. DH is also quite shy and doesn't like big groups.

Good Morning everybody!!!!!!!

I woke up at 5 this morning (normal for me is after 6) wide awake and unable to go back to sleep. Now, after doing my devotions, getting ready for the day, a pancake and some coffee I think I might make it through the day.

It is Monday which means facutly meeting afterschool especially since we had in-service on Friday, most of what we talk about will be repeat.

Hope everybody has a great day!!!!

Hi!

Just enjoying another day with no meeting after school. Actually we had a party yesterday after school for the 2 people who got married last Thursday. I forgot all about it until the fire alarm went off from the candles on the cake. Oops! Oops!

No meeting today (I checked...no mess up this time) and we have one tomorrow. Thursday we have a lunch for the IT guy. He's celebrating the birth of his son. This man is so nice and when you let him know there's a problem with your computer he gets here as quick as he can and fixes it. I don't konw that there's anything he doesn't know how to fix or do on these things. I'm happy to go help him celebrate.

I've finished my grading and I'm just killing time waiting to go home. I'm so caught up. I'm going to enjoy it while I can. LOL I'm thinking I'll get a lot of cross stitching done tonight. I'm going to avoid the computer except to download some stuff for my iPod and veg while the kids are at taekwondo. Now I just have to hope that nothing happens to mess up that plan!

Ciao, ladies.

Beth, thats great you found a table, good luck with packing I would have hard time trying to decide what to leave...and all that lol, its fun when you discover you have all this stuff, like finding money in jacket you havent used in awhile, or finding snacks you hid away lol

Roberta, thats great your sister is going too.

Nicole, I did play Mario Kart and it was awesome I like alot the new things they had to offer verse other versions like N64 and such.... I had fun... my sweetie bought us wheels so we could play with his sister and all... Ive also been playing Zelda for the ds

Stacy, if you dont have a wheel you can use the controller and nubchuck
*around here the wheel is only $10

Yesterday I found out this old friend of mine got burnt on half her body, and is being treated for it... and she already has many self esteem issues...its sad. Also my sweeties sister came to church yesterday and she hasn't been around in year and so, so that was nice to see her there.

well I have some things to get done...

Stacy, my brother told me last night that he has found wheels for $10 so he feels ripped off now.

Jennifer, that is terrible about your friend. Is she going to be alright?

I played mario kart alone for a while yesterday and got really good at it! I played against Lorne and my brother and beat both of them! Once I got used to the wheel it got really easy to control. It is easiest playing alone though since you get the whole screen.

I am tired today. I haven't slept well in a couple of weeks and for the last 2 nights I was up practically all night because both of our dogs are sick. I feel sick too so we think it is our water. We went out and got a jug of good water hoping that will help out. I made food for our dogs to settle their stomachs and blended it so they can digest it easier. I hope it helps. So now I am tired and feel totally blah. My brother was over all weekend, but I wasn't very entertaining for him. Luckily he has Lorne to hang out with. He left this morning. I was so tired I didn't even hear him talking to me at all when he was getting ready to leave.

Our landlady is coming over tonight with all the paperwork for our new rental. I can't wait to move into a house for 6 months. A house that has an ensuite off of the master bedroom will be nice! And it will be closer to what our new place will be like so that is cool. I just hope that guys from Lorne's work will help us move because my brother does not want to help. I asked him if he would help if no one else would and he just grumbled...

Nicole- sounds like something my brothers would say- actually I think they already have grumbled about having to help me move in a couple of months. That is probably the one thing they have liked about me living overseas- they only have to manage the suitcases that all have to be under 70 lbs and no more than 4-5 of them. They are not going to be excited about carrying all of my boxes downstairs (currently in the attic - so two sets of stairs) and then load in the vehicles, drive 5 hours and then unload all of them. I guess I will have to find something go for them and hide it in my boxes so they have a reward when they open that box back up when we are done

Today was busy. I got spoiled over the past several weeks with the student teacher here. I could leave the room, go to the bathroom, run errands.... and not have to worry about the kids. So I actually had to teach all day today and then we had staff meeting. We got home, finished packing the student teachers' things and then took them to the airport. I really haven't been home all day and I am ready to go to bed
