Beth thats great you were able to get good nights sleep

Trish, I hope yall get to feeling better

Good Luck Tamara!

I didn't sleep so well and the top of my mouth hurts either I burnt it with hot food or scraped it on some food or something but it kinda makes it hard to eat anything :(
I got some cleaning done, I have more to do though and I need to work out and I have good bit to do...and Im thinking about getting another part time job until I either find out about the post office job, house prices are dropping even more because of the economy and all, we talked about getting an apartment but I kinda feel like its money that could be towards a house....although apartment would be cheap and my sweetie said he could afford it, even if I didnt work.... so im not sure >_>

Anyways every one have wonderful day.

It went okay...although there were moments of awkward silence. I don't talk a ton, so I'm used to those. He gave me some articles and basically told me he'd find something for me to do (and to tell him what I'd like to do). We'll see. He seems super nice though... more so than any other professor I've known. Too bad he had to be at somewhere other than where I actually go to college.

It's been an emotionally trying day for me. Today would've been my 13th wedding anniversary.

Is this the no-name thread now?

I've been pretty busy at work, with very little time left to get on the computer once I have some family time.

I guess so, Kylie.... Where'd the name go?

Denim---(((hugs))) and prayers. Every time my anniversary from my first marriage comes around it makes it a hard day for me as well. Thankfully I am remarried now so my current DH helps me through it.

Today promises to be a wet & wild Wednesday. Haha. We didn't have our water fun day at school yesterday (the weather wasn't warm enough...weird for Cali...but true). Maybe we'll do it today after the kickball & softball games...if the weather cooperates. It's still not supposed to make 80.

Tomorrow is our last day of school & the day when I'm laid off. It's going to be a weird day...as it's also my son's last day of preschool (he'll be 5 on Friday so it would have been his last day anyways).

Hi everybody!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it just me, or is this week flying by for everybody else also??? Tomorrow is Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a little bit of a bittersweet day for me. Today starts the end of my music classes at this school. My kids (especially the little ones) were so cute though showing me with the rhythm instruments what all they have learned. The end is almost here- and it is sad. I love these kids so much!!!

Okay- so fun topic, was talking with my "big brother" afterschool today about random things and he asks me if I had talked with my roommate. I told him that I hadn't (we really don't talk all that much anyway) and he started telling me that they are praying about starting a relationship . I was somewhat expecting it, but it was still random how he brought it up. Fairly typical guy actually. But I was really very pleased overall. He is already talking with Godly men down here about how he needs to approach things and having that accountablity- which is really important. Not only do they work together, but next year will live in apartments a stone's throw apart. So I was pleased with the way that he is handling things. I actually think they will be good for each other and somewhat expect to get a wedding invitation sometime next year

Of course, along with my happiness/rejoicing for them, I can be upset and feel bad for myself. Here I am 3 years older than my roomie and I have no guy looking my way. I have a little bit of hope that I am getting moved to the middle of nowhere because my husband is there, but that really isn't very likely. But it is always worth a thought

I haven't read anything...I'll have to catch up.

A few weeks ago I heard about a local vet whose practice was broken into...he was shot and the building was set on fire. NOW the vet has confessed that he shot himself, set his own building on fire, rescued his own expensive bird, but left all his clients' animals in there (if I'm remembering correctly).

I really wonder what is wrong in people's heads sometimes. Although I'm sure it was for insurance $$.

This week feels like its dragging, although I'm not sure why in particular. I've picked up 2 new kids who are WAY far away- in 2 days of work I've used about 1/2 tank of gas in my car. My dentist appointment is on Friday- this is the one where they're supposed to tell me everything that needs to be done and how much it will cost. I'm not looking forward to it, but I am thinking it will be nice to know exactly what I'm dealing with.
DH appears to have picked up my cough, and he sounds horrible. If it doesn't improve soon he will probably end up going to a doctor to make sure its not bronchitis or something.

Ugh about the bronchitis, Stacy. I had it last month & honestly I still have a touch of it...but I'm NOT going back to the doctor.

I hear you on the last days of school, Beth. Tomorrow is our last day. Some of the kids said their goodbyes today because they won't be there tomorrow. The one little gal said, "See you next year, Mrs. Megan." It's sad because I won't be there next year. God has called us to move on & I know this is right. It's just harder than I had expected it to be.

It was a good day. We had our staff vs. students softball game. The students won...first time since the school started this tradition a few years ago. The younger students were squirting up a storm during the softball game since they played kickball. I just watched (was afraid the asthma would kick into overdrive...esp since I am still hacking).

Our son's birthday is coming up fast & furious. Picked up his cupcakes for his class tomorrow as it's his last day. Wow...I can't believe he's going to be 5.

Roberta (((((HUGS))))) to you today.

Tami...thats just crazy about the vet...I really just don't get people sometimes! When some of the pet owners who's animals he had in his care get a hold of him he may wish he'd shot himself in the head instead!

"faith" - it is hard trying to say goodbye - my 3rd and 4th graders asked me point blank at the end of class yesterday if I was going to be back (I am almost positive that I already told them...) and then some of them started to say goodbye- I was like, you can't do that to me yet- next week you can say goodbye to me - not this week. My kids are going to be the hardest though- something tells me that next Friday there will be a lot of tears. I have told most of the kids in the school simply because this is a little different set-up than a public school. These kids and their families have become almost family to me and so I felt it was important for them to have enough time to get use to the idea that I would be living. Some teachers have waited until the last day to tell their classes, but it makes it really hard on the students then as they have no time to get use to the idea. Hope you have a great last day though!!! As far as the school part goes, I am ready to be done. I am not ready for the goodbyes, but I am ready to be done with the academic/going to school everyday part.

Guess it is time I get up and get ready for the day. "Beach day"!!!! Means I can wear shorts today!!

Yay for "Beach Day" and all of those other FUN days as a teacher. Who else gets to dress crazy just because? LOL.... Have a great day!!!

I've told most of my students...or tried to. Our school is K-12 (preK-12 if you count the preschool in the other building). It's a private Christian school and so yes, the kids are all "family"...even the ones that drive me BONKERS!

It's a bittersweet day--happy because the school/academic part is over (it's just parties today). Sad because I'll never see a lot of these kids again. Many I will see throughout the summer (we're planning on moving in July) at church; however, several families do not attend our church.

I picked up my son at preschool yesterday & I haven't really prepped them...as I put in his notice & figured (wrongly) that the staff would....or maybe they figure the kids are young enough that they don't care. Anyway, his one little friend was asking me all kinds of questions when I was reminding the teachers that tomorrow (now today) is his last day.

Oh...and then my boss was trying to get me to work on Friday (to finish out the pay period is what he said yesterday). I talked to him on the 14th of May to find out when the exact layoffs were taking place & he told me the last day of school (the 29th). That's what all of our plans have been around (submitting his withdrawal, etc.) & I made plans to go to the zoo with some friends on Friday morning. Yes, the friend would understand, but I don't want to back out on her. My boss hasn't talked to me since the 14th.

The rooms are torn down and all that is left is the deep-cleaning. I haven't had a classroom since December. Would you feel obligated to go in on Friday (after being told you were laid off on Thursday)? Yes, I could use the pay as we're moving and every little bit helps. I just feel like he should have mentioned it ahead of time (like prior to me submitting my son's required written two week withdrawal notice).

Okay, so I'm rambling on...sorry. Y'all know how it is...that's why I've started chatting in this thread. LOL....

It's going to be a THRILLING THURSDAY!!! Just keep me in your prayers today as it's bittersweet.

faith- I don't know what I would do in that situation - My last day is June 12 and that is the last day for everybody. We do 4 days of work after the kids leave to tear down the rooms and all of that sort of thing. In some ways it is nice because it gives the teachers a chance to finish things without having the kids around. At the same time, we work basically a week after the kids leave- so those with families are stuck trying to find childcare so they can come back to work for 4 days.

My kids were crazy today- they decided that they should act like they were on the beach, even though the nearest one is almost 1000 miles away. Anyway, I hope they come back to school tomorrow ready to finish things out because I still have a lot I would like to do with them yet, but I need them to get all of their regular classroom work completed first.

I got a sewing machine today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here Hopefully that works. My mom says it is pretty nice- guess I will find out in 18 days!!!!!

Around here, most of the teachers end up taking their kids to the school during those takedown days ... saves on the babysitter scramble, and they can put the kids to work 'helping' so the tasks get finished sooner. And inevitably, one or two teachers have teenage kids, so they 'babysit' the younger ones at the school while mom/dad/schoolage kids work.

Beth- my aunt has a machine similar to that one. She likes it, and it seems pretty easy to use.
My sewing machine is on the fritz. I'm pretty sure it just needs some TLC and a tune up, but I'm putting off taking it somewhere to be looked at.
Yay for last days of school and fun days! I remember those. I had my hubby help me set up and take down my classroom when I was teaching.
I filled up the gas in my car on Tuesday morning, and I'm already under 1/4 tank. My dentist appointment is tomorrow afternoon- they're supposed to be telling me what all needs to be done. Pray it isn't too much or too $$.

That's what you get for letting Fritz on your sewing machine.

Sorry, bad joke, but I couldn't pass it up.

Yes, very bad. I wish I'd thought of it. LOL I guess you're feeling a bit better if you're making bad jokes. {hugs}

Well, today E's best friend heads back to the States. Even though E has exams to study for he's spending the day playing PS2 with his friend while he can. Then tomorrow we make him hit the books hard.

Only a few more weeks and we're in Lebanon! Whoohoo! (I'm going to enjoy the power/water 24/7 thing while I can.) But at least the sand will be where it belongs...on the beach! (And in the twins' shoes after playing in the playground all day. )

Beth, enjoy your last days with the kids and remember, you might just find Mr. Right waiting for you in the middle of nowhere. Stranger things have happened!

Have a nice day, ladies.

Stacy, praying things go well for you at the dentist today. I haven't visited a dentist for anything (since I was pregnant with DS) except to have my wisdom teeth removed about 15 mos. ago. Guess I should be setting those visits up soon. I *think* DH has dental insurance as part of his insurance package, but I'm not 100% sure.

Beth, I sure hope those kids are ready to learn today. I know we always seemed to lose a lot of time on Fridays because our children were ready for the weekend. We didn't really do anything with them over the last week or so and even the works preceding that, it was like pulling teeth to get the kids to work. They seemed to all get summer fever around the first of May. Have your kids caught it yet?
Yay for the sewing machine. Mine is in storage at my dad's house...unless my step-mom has whipped it out. I guess I should go get it when I move back to the area (along with a bunch of other things). For some reason, DH & I both believe we'll be settling in Kansas for a few years. I really do pray it is so as I am TIRED of moving all the time. (I just counted 7 moves between locations since my son was born & if I added in the moves between residences there would be 2 more. Ten moves before the child starts kindergarten...wow.)

I'm looking forward to starting my new teaching position & pray that my 5 year old will be able to come with me! We're unsure if he'll be able to attend the same school I teach at....but I sure hope so!

Well, I'm not going to work today & I really don't feel too badly about it. I talked to the asst. principal yesterday (who still thought today was my last day). But when I explained things, she was all for me going to spend the day with my "baby" at the zoo. LOL....she has 2 kids herself and knows how fast they grow up (I think her kids are 7 and 13).

He's FIVE today!! What mixed emotions! We're going to the zoo I guess we'll get to act like animals. His birthday party is tomorrow at the park & it's getting bigger by the moment. Only a few members of our family and one other child will not make it (at least that's what it seems like). It should end up being around 40-45 people & we're having pizza with Cars cupcakes (that look like cake).

Yesterday ended up being a really good day. I couldn't have asked for a better last day of school really. Honestly, I just savored every moment, played with my kids at every opportunity, and laughed and laughed. No one cried. Yay! (I guess that was a tiny fear...to become a blubbering pile of person....and I know that would have been okay too....but I just didn't want to do that...to have my kids let that be the last images they see of me).

Graduation ceremonies were last night & I had debated about going vs. not going. I ended up going, but only stayed through part of them. There was a 20-30 minute gap between ceremonies so I decided it was all right to leave (as the wee one was getting tired and DH was at home with an aching knee).

Anyway, I guess I'd better go get ready for the zoo. Have a blessed day ladies!

Quick question. I'm babysitting for out-of-town relatives of someone I babysit for semi-regularly. They're in town for a wedding, and I'm keeping the kids (in the room) for the rehearsal dinner. My problem is, I don't know what room the people are in, and I have no number, etc. I DO have the man's name and know which hotel it is. Would they give me a room number at the desk? I'm thinking if not, they can call the room for me maybe. It just sounds odd that they'd give a random person a room number, but then again it's been a long time since I've stayed in a hotel.

Yes ... the desk will have to call the room on your behalf ... they are not allowed to give out room numbers UNLESS the occupant has previously informed the desk that someone will be coming by AND you have photo ID to prove that you are said person (I worked hotels for a while, can you tell?!?!) Even then, they will still call up to the room to inform the person you have arrived.

Ditto to what Kara said. I was just going to say that they would call them, but I like the way Kara answered

Now....it's really off to get ready for the zoo. God bless!!
