Welcome Sherry!

Beth ~ sorry about the insomnia...I'm like that alot...wide awake when I SHOULD be asleep. I've found that more than sleep that my body needs rest...so as long as I lay in bed and rest when I should be asleep I'm usually fine the next day...but if I don't get the rest or the sleep I'm exhausted. Actual sleep I only get 2-3 hours or so a night...that's a good night...lol...but I'm usually in bed about 7 hours.

Tamara, I had a friend that always brought me down, I cared about my friend alot, but she was negative about everything it seemed, and she didnt have any other friends, she didnt have family who didnt care, her father left her as a kid, her mom was yea.... but I always tried to be there for her...and show her Gods word but after awhile I couldnt help her because she kept putting me in negative mood.... but when we distanced from each other it helped everything I still continue to pray for her but sometimes you have to distance yourself from people who always bring you down, sometimes you need someone to encourage you for a change....

(also) sorry to hear about the aggravation that your dad is giving ya

Beth- sorry that your having rough time

Hey Sherry welcome to the thread

I had good weekend, got to go out to eat ^_^ and spent time with my sweetie
also I got a bluetooth headset for $5 orignally was $60 they had an instance store savings where I got it and then a mail in rebate so the cost of it was only 4.99 so I thought for that price I would get one.... my sweetie needed one though he drives alot for work so its really nice for him.

I have a few minutes before I have to become a GRE study hermit again.

I was talking to one of my friends yesterday on the phone. We have a mutual friend...I'll call the mutual friend Jane. Jane is a premed nursing student, and I know her better than my other friend does. So, my friend's very outgoing, and she'll talk to anyone. We have a nursing school here, and there are a lot of adult/older students there. She somehow met a nursing student, and somehow the nursing student started talking about Jane. Now, I'd told my outgoing friend that Jane has been advised several times to change her major... and we've discussed her a lot because she has failed just about every science class she's taken. I didn't know how her nursing classes were going, but this "older" student told her that her professors bend over backwards to help Jane, but that Jane still fails.

My friend doesn't know Jane like I do... Jane and I had some classes together, and although I struggled with a few, I somehow passed all of them (I did repeat one). I know Jane has failed gen. chem. I, gen. chem. II, physics I, organic chem. I (I can understand failing that; a lot of ppl do)...and she's failed nursing classes and biology I think. So she's been repeating against all her advisors' advising (they think she needs to change majors). She's set on going to med school, but she's failed everything at least once.

I knew that already; it wasn't a shock that she's failing nursing too. I'm in the science dept., but the woman apparently has taken classes with Jane and knows first-hand. But the thing that got me was, the older student said that if someone found out what the professors were doing for her to help her pass, they would be sued.

Miss Giggles, I hate Acuvue Advanced... they just don't agree with my eyes.

Your schools must be different, because the nursing schools here are separate from the medical schools. Unless she is trying to be a physicians assistant?

Anyway the waiting list is so long to get in that they only take the top students and even then there is a two to a three year wait. Each class class only take in 25 students or so. It's crazy, they say they are so short of nurses but they don't have enough instructors either.

I was thinking of trying to start the pre reqs but I don't know if that's what I want to do yet to have to wait 3 years.

the only reason I am mad about the contacts is that they don't irritate your eyes right away so you are stuck with some boxes you can't use. I'm going to write them a letter.

I just wanted to take a quick moment to share a praise.

I had about $7000 worth of medical bills and no way to pay them. They were from when my husband and I were still together. I worried prayed about it a lot. I had several churches praying for me. My only income right now is child support for $600/mo. My rent that I give to sis is $500/mo. I had been turned over to a collection agency that was going to take about $175/mo for just one of the bills. I talked to my soon-to-be-ex and he said that since the bills came while we were together, he'd take care of them! He got the tax return check back and so he took care of the collections agency and is working on the others. He also volunteered to bump my child support up to $650/mo.

We don't have a medical school (at this college). But you can be "premed" and have any major you want. She's premed nursing; I'm premed biology; I know some premed philosphy majors I think. But premed nursing, at SOME schools that do have a medical school, will GUARANTEE entrance to medical school (if you complete your premed nursing degree).

I understand now. My school you had to be pre - nursing or pre physical therapy or whatever, then accepted into the school of nursing or physical therapy to complete your degree. Then if you were pre med you had to take mcat and actually be accepted to medical school.

Wow! That is awesome!!!

I had a really nice weekend. I surprised Lorne by booking 2 nights in a hotel in Banff, AB. I used the gift certificate that Lorne's brother gave us for Christmas. It was enough to pay for 2 nights in a hotel and 2 hot spring tickets that we will use later. It was pouring rain the whole weekend, but we still spent most of our day walking around exploring. It was nice because not many people were outside since it was so wet so it was really quiet and peaceful. And because it was cooler outside we saw a lot of deerk and Elk. Some were right in front of us which was cool!

My parents came over last wednesday so I asked if they would take our dogs for a week so I could book a hotel and not have to worry about our dogs. They were more than happy to do that for us since they love our dogs and would love to keep them. They will come over on saturday after we move, stay a night and then go back home on sunday. We are hoping to do something fun on sunday with them! They are going to try to come after we finish moving so our dogs aren't in the way. I miss my dogs, but I would rather not have them here this week when we are finishing packing, cleaning and moving.

I forgot to add- my unemployment kicked in this month too- so that helps.

I also want to add that I was very blessed by church yesterday. I haven't been to this particular church since moving back here six months ago. It was wonderful that the pastor remembered me, the youth pastor also remembered me and asked how my dd was doing. They both remembered us by name and the youth pastor even remembered by niece's name - and that she is getting ready to go into middle school.

They invited me to the luncheon afterwards. I was by myself and I usually make excuses for reasons not to go to things like that or if I do go, I sit alone. I went and asked some ladies if I could sit with them. It was very nice getting to know them.

Nicole (RIP) has been busy on her house I think She had an update on Facebook about dry wall this next week. It is sad - this is the only place the two of us really talk If we don't see/talk to each other here, we really don't know much about each other (other than what gets past to grandma from our mothers )

I made it through my day- even with my limited amount of sleep. I was still resting, even when I was awake, but it still isn't the same. I actually need 7-8 hours to feel like I have enough sleep to have a good day. When I have nights like last night, I just barely function/make it through the day. I am forcing myself to stay up still for another hour or so before I start "resting/trying to go to sleep" so that maybe my body will be tired enough that I will get my 7-8 hours tonight.

It could be worse. I work swing shift and rarely do anything before work, so I spend a lot of time sleeping. I have trained myself in to needing nine hours of sleep. Even with eight hours of sleep I feel groggy now.

Beth, thanks for the update on Nicole (RIR).

Roberta, that's awesome news!

Our household is infected. Joan has a nasty virus and I'm about a day behind her symptoms wise. It's supposed to last about a week, the doctor said.
