Hi Jennifer- thanks for praying. Even on our best days, I'm sure we could all use it. I sent you a pm regarding this young lady. I'm am so saddened when things like that happen. All children need love and encouragement from their parents, not put downs. My dd is 15. Part of the reason that her father and I split is because I couldn't take him saying things like that to her! I'll keep praying for her. It's wonderful that you're concerned enough about her to bring her needs before the Lord and other Christians.

Oy vey...I was just reading the case files for the 2 new kiddos I'm supposed to be seeing. First of all, they're 30 miles from my house (1 way), and totally out of the way from where the rest of my kids are. One of them is a 4 month old who has a disorder where he basically lacks the automatic reflex that makes him breathe. From my reading, he will always have to be on a ventilator to sleep, and may or may not need one 24/7. He also appears to have an additional immune deficiency where he gets sick very easily. This is in addition to my medically fragile boy with the severe seizure disorder, and my little girl who has severe brain damage b/c she had a heart attack and coded while in the hospital (not on monitors) and it took them close to 25 minutes to find and revive her.

Wow Stacy, my heart breaks for the challenges those children face and the pain their parents must feel knowing what they will go through in their lives. Nothing makes you feel more grateful for your childrens health than hearing about the medical troubles of another child.

Jennifer ~ I feel for your sisters friend to be living in such an emotionally abusive situation. Beth ~ I can't imagine being excited about driving...lol...it's one of the things I avoid whenever possible...and not just because of the price of gas! But I'm glad that you enjoyed it ;)

Oy, I'm on AIM with my brother and sister, and my cousin was just recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I refuse to call it juvenile diabetes since he's about 22. Type 1 with a relatively late onset (late teens, early 20's) runs very heavily in my family. Fortunately (or not) he can get good advice from my brother, since he developed about 6 years ago (age 16 or so).

ORIGINAL: fluffmonkey Trish have you been to doctor already didnt you say you were going tuesday? I went to the doctor on Monday. I told him about what others had said about their opinions that I have fibromyalgia. He just said, "So you're just suffering from stress?" He doesn't believe that fibromyalgia exists. If it can't be seen on tests, xrays etc, then to him, it doesn't exist. He said that half of rheumatologists don't believe that fibromyalgia exists either. He's going to run a whole stack of tests to see if there's something else that can be picked up, disproving the whole fibromyalgia thing. He doesn't expect to find anything though.

ORIGINAL: solo_soprano22 I just got the invitation to the Sex and the City party, and they paid $3 per invitation. I guess some people just don't have productive ways of spending time and money. Oh, I've spoken of this friend PLENTY in the chat threads. Her unproductive use of money (and the way she's usually purposefully doing things that aren't productive, when she needs to do her work) is normal for her.... and her mom actually. It really looks like that instead of buying a box of invitations, she bought individual Hallmark greeting cards and sent them out like invitations. So they spent $3 on each invitation and probably a ton on the party itself. I can't say I'm surprised though... she spends money like it's nothing (and it's not her money). But of course, all the stuff she buys she "needs." Tami, I think your friend has something mentally wrong with her. I'm not being snarky, I literally think so.

Hey, ladies. Relaxing weekend here. We missed church yesterday since the twins aren't quite up to snuff. I don't know if it's colds or allergies from all the dust lately. Plus E has exams starting tomorrow and he had a lot of studying to do. I'm just enjoying being home and surfing around online. Nothing much else going on. Except I took the twins today to the clinic to get meds for their noses, etc. and I asked about the swelling I've had in my ankles the last few weeks. She thought it had to do with the varicose veins I have. She gave me something to help open them up to let the fluid go more easily. They were out of it today so I'll go back tomorrow on my way home from school to pick it up. Hopefully it'll help. Well, off to help E get read for his French exam tomorrow. Ciao, ladies.

But of course, all the stuff she buys she "needs." Tami, I think your friend has something mentally wrong with her. I'm not being snarky, I literally think so. Eh, she sent me a message last night about how I had to come cause she was going through so much trouble... like I asked her to. I told her I had to work tonight (which WAS true-- they cancelled yesterday). I'm wondering why someone would buy up expensive cards individually to send out as invitations, and I know her mom is the one who bought them (her dad works and puts the money on credit cards) so I can't say it was all her. I thought that was the point of people making invitations available in bulk...so you could save money. Hallmark invitations are probably still high, but they're far higher when you buy cards one by one. I still just don't like her attitude, and I haven't seen her in at least a few weeks or months. She does seem learning disabled, but her "neediness" is ridiculous to me (not learning-wise, but materially). I can see if one was rich, I'd better understand it, although I still wouldn't agree with wasting money like that. If her dad asks her mom and her to cut back they act like they'll shrivel and die because they can't go on their DAILY shopping/eating outings (and movie outings for my friend). I must say, I'm happy she's my ONLY friend who's like that. If all my friends were, I don't think I'd have friends anymore. ...And the other day she told me she made two C-'s in her art classes (art is her major). I'd feel badly for her, but I really don't. I actually think she deserved worse because she doesn't do her work, and literally wastes all the time she was supposed to use doing it. Her professors actually gave her chances that she shouldn't have gotten. Without the "favors" she probably would have really failed. I understand that some people have a hard time, even when they put in effort. That happens to me too... but I can't feel sorry for you if you skip class and don't do your work so that you can go out every day. Why should I? If you get an F due to irresponsibility, that's on you. That's not the same as if you tried and just couldn't understand, etc. I sense she wants people to feel sorry for her because of her grades, and apparently she wants to go to grad school.... but she doesn't realize that they'd usually like a B average (or better) in her major classes. (*for the nearest grad school to us*) She's never made above a C or D in any of her art classes and she thinks she can get in without the requirements for some reason. (Doesn't think she needs rec letters, GRE, GPA, etc.) I think she's confused and thinks that you can just fill out an application for grad school and be done with it (like you do for a job). I've tried to explain it to her several times, but she doesn't understand. I know one thing though; I will NOT be at a Sex and the City party tonight.

I don't like my dad sometimes. He always fusses at me for no reason. Whenever I hear him come home I just lose all my joy.... if I had any. The other day I asked for my credit card so I could buy a new mouse (we pay on the bill together); he told me to get $10 gas on it too. Well when I went to the pump I flipped down that switch that holds the pump on. I'd been to this gas station before and had no issue. Anyway, when it got close to ten I attempted to get the switch to come back up, but it was stuck. So I was trying to figure out what to do and finally just pushed up that lever you have to pull down to get the gas to pump. It'd gone over about five dollars, but at least it was only five... it'd take about $100 to fill it up all the way. Anyway, I had to hear him fuss about that all day (although I told him it wasn't my fault and that I'd give him the extra)... then he goes on about how high my tuition is, ALTHOUGH I told him a long time ago I needed to fill out a FAFSA to see if I could get help AND that I didn't mind taking out loans. He told me no no no, I'll pay for the rest of undergrad. Then he complains about the payments that he makes on my car... I never asked for the car...I never asked for a new car... I appreciate the gift, but why am I supposed to feel guilty about him getting it for me? He didn't have to. I think school stress, health stress, and this home/family stuff is probably what's making my hair fall out. Every mistake I make I have to feel guiilty about (according to my dad). Anytime the baby wakes up, it's because I did something to him.
