Hi, everyone.

Ds found out that there is CAP at the local airport and is going to a meeting Tuesday night. Do ya want to know how he found out it was there? Well, first of all, he decided that he couldn't wait a day or so to get a haircut so he tried to cut it himself Saturday night! I couldn't send him to school looking like that on Monday SO we took him to Walmarts for the $14 haircut instead of paying $9.. After he was finished, we decided to stay at Walmarts to watch the "We Support Our Troops" program. He bought a ticket to win a quilt that said POW?MIA and had a lot of Army/ Navy /Marine, etc insignias on it. The raffle was going to be at the airport so we went out there but he didn't win the quilt. He found out about CAP being there. I guess the moral of the story is not to yell at a kid that cuts his own hair. There must be a good reason for it, after all! Oh and BTW, did I mention that his sister had to straighten up the $14 haircut???

Here is a question about CAP..Ds hasn't been exercising that much. Do you think that joining will help him get in better shape than right now?

It was the Ted Moored Run/Walk. He taught Math at MVCC and was killed by a drunk driver. This helps raise money to help prevent drunk driving. It was a lot of fun. The police had a booth set up there where the boys were aable to put on these goggles that made them see like a drunk person. It was really funny to see them try to do the drunk tests... and that waas at borderline legal limit for driving!

Judy, every CAP squadron is different.

OK, my internet isn't working and I came to my mom's to use hers and now I can't get my email-every time I try it wants credit card info and such, even though it's the free version of AOL. I really don't understand, and I am having a really rotten day and just want to crawl in a hole and die.

(((Jen))) Don't do that.

I felt like that last night when my car died again. Then dad called this mornign to say it wasn't where we left it. It was off the side of the road completely in the grass and there were no "no parking" signs and I put a note in the windshield that I would return this AM. Well, some cop decided it wasn't safe and had it towed last night. GRRRR

Oh well, it's back and working now.

Either the world is out to get me or my mom's cojmputer has a nasty virus, because another site that has never done this before asked me for my credit card info including ATM code. ? i am going to have to sign off and shut this thing down...and maybe call my bank.

Zoe - praying the belt stays on now!!! AND everything else continues to work on your car!!

His/Hazel - praying your ds's hand is OK.

Judii - isn't it great how God will work circumstances that seem BAD for GOOD! He's so amazing!

Ellie - congrats to your Russ (BTW - my ds is starting to resemble the younger version of my Russ too, only he's going to be taller & leaner than my Russ was)!

((Jen)) - hope the computer starts acting right for you & your day gets better!

The kids are almost done with school. Dh is on the phone with the hospital because we keep getting notices for bills from his surgery that say he's not enrolled in DEERS (the military system). We think someone at the hospital put his SSN in wrong! We're hoping IF we get it taken care of at the hospital, we won't have any more of those notices & have to sit on hold with tricare! What a PAIN! But we are glad we have insurance, we got the hospital bill & it was over $54,000!!! And that didn't include the surgeon, anesthesiologist etc... bills (hey I spelled anesthesiologist right the 1st try!!! - don't we have a pat on the back smace?). Well, I need to go make lunch.

I am trying to figure out if we have our small group tonight or not. They changed it from either the 1st and 3rd Monday to the 2nd and 4th, or vice versa. We get there so infrequently because of work that I really can't remember. If I'm off on a Monday I usually just check with someone, but today I can't seem to reach anyone who would know. Oh well, I'm sure someone will call back eventually, but I'd like to know how much time I have this afternoon. I have about 6 things to do that all take varying amounts of time, and I'd rather not be in the middle of something messy and find out surprise! we gotta go.

Patrick had his job interview this am. He really doesn't have a feel for how it went. It's only a gas station job so I'm thinking that they were looking for little more than a pulse and the ability to form complete sentences, but we'll see if they call him back.

Well, my girls are out with Grandma shopping for Mother's Day. I guess DD2 loves me even though I made her do multiplication today.

After I tucked them all in last night I heard them having a conference in DD1's bedroom. I didn't hear any words except this out of DS "We fight a lot. We just fight with each other... a LOT" It was so cute. They are pretty good but still. I don't know if He was talking about MD plans or in general but that's the one sentence that came down that I hear.

After tam practice on Saturday I came home to shower and go back out to a birthday party. We have a fiberglass shower stall with a glass door. I went to open the door and the door and frame on the left side pulled completely out of the wall. . The frame had been a bit loose, but still....

For now we shower in the other bathroom.

I have also been searching for songs for us to dance too for the holidays. The song I had for Sukkot won't work since the tam leader wants to use that song for a torch dance with the men.

This week is Israel Independence Day and our rabbi's wife was disappointed when she realized there would be no special dance this week. I told her no becuase we did not know in enough time that we were having a big celebration which is true.

A few weeks is not enough time to find a song, come up with a dance and then teach it to others and have them feel comfortable with it to do it.

And I discovered that the musical group we supported was in town for a week for Pesach and they did not contact us to let us know they were here. I checked their websites and although they mentioned their previous congregation by name in California, there was no congregational name listed for our town.

They played at a different congregation than either ours or the split one, but they did contact people who were part of the new congregation. It has me wondering if I should support them when thier next disc comes out. It doesn't seem that they want it from those who stayed.

Jen, Hope you get your computer fixed! Thanks!

Amy, It's weird the way stuff works. Ds is SO ready to homeschool again, too! He says if he goes to CAP, he HAS to homeschool. I think he means that while all the other members are pulling their 7 hours in at the local school, he can just study the CAP stuff on the day he has the meeting and then look like he is a genius!
Yup, he must be serious about this! We are at the library and he is on the pc next to me. He is actually looking at the CAP website and not playing a game!!

Cindy - hope you get to go to your small group OR get lots of things done at home whichever will be better for you!!

Zoe - Hope they have something great planned for Mother's Day for you - you deserve it!!

Narnia - hope you get your shower door fixed easily! That must've been shocking to have it come loose like that!!!

Judy - praying the CAP group there is a good one & this gives your ds motivation! Scouts does that (sometimes) for ds. He was just elected Quartermaster of his patrol, which means we will be storing the camp supplies here at our house - guess we better get moving on cleaning out the garage huh?

I need to go figure out what to make for dinner. Ds has Karate & I have some errands to run while he's there. His dentist appointment was quick - hopefully they got the impressions they need this time! The receptionist told him that he needed to make a "good impression"! That made him chuckle!

Ds4's hand is not broken. We were there for almost 2.5hrs! Doctor was running late, then he sent ds4 down for x-rays. We had to wait for almost an hour. After which the doctor didn't find any fractures. Gave ds4 a talking to about punching people, though!

I am tired. I didn't sleep well last night. I was tired, but dh isn't sleeping well. I ended up on the couch, then bright and early dh's birds started making noise. Then the busy afternoon at the doctors. We took the kids out for an end of the school year celebration (even though ds4 still as a few tests to go). My ears have been ringing when I'm around any noise at all. Needless to say, I'm pretty miserable right now. And tired...

So I went home and cried and called a friend who prescribed tea, vitamins and Psalms, which worked quite nicely. I got the boys going on chores in preparation for schoolwork, but just as we were going to begin schoolwork the phone rang. It was the agency asking how good I am on Excel. I said I was comfortable, there were things I didn't know, but I learned fast. She called back fifteen minutes later and said, 'the last time we tested you, you rated 'basic' in Excel. We would like to test you again RIGHT NOW' lol So I dropped everything, gave the boys their assignments, changed clothes and rushed out there. I took the test and rated...basic! Even after using it a lot at work over the last year. So I grabbed lunch and went back and took their tutoring programs and now I am rated 'Expert' in both Excel and Word

Which means, of course, that I got the job. I start tomorrow morning. I am a 'hay distribution clerk' and my children have given me no end of grief over this...am I going to wear overalls to work, do I need a toothpick, where's my horse....you get the picture.

This job is supposed to last through Aug or Sept. They were displeased with their last temp so the pressure has been piled on me.

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement! I can't tell you how much they mean.

Yay Jen!

Is it bad that my homeschool kid isn't even born yet and I'm already planning things?

We've both agreed that we will more than likely HS for first few years and then go from there. Hubby is a bit leary about beyond 5th grade and I am just hoping that the proof is in the pudding

Learning and preparing are good, but planning.... depends on what you're planning. Each child is different. But if by planning you mean reading and learning, then that's great. I recommend that you read anything by Ruth Beechick to start with.

A lot of people take it one year at a time. I wouldn't worry about it at this point, since your baby has a ways to go before you need to start academics.

Congrats, Jen!

Brandy, I think one year at a time is a good way to do things. It's less overwhelming, for one. I try not to make too many decisions in advance, because too many things happen on the way and my decisions tend to change by the time we actually get there. Fifth grade is a long way away.

GREAT news on the job Jen!!

We had bad storms roll through last night. It was a rough night in our household. Apparently, dh was having trouble falling asleep & was up until about 3 and then at 3:30 my alarm went off. I couldn't figure it out, because it wasn't even set. Later, I realized the battery backup is probably dead & the electricity had probably flashed on & off. BUT I have had a lot of problems with this alarm clock (going off right after I set it OR 10 minutes later ), so it may be time for a new one anyway! Dh was snoring pretty good after that & I had to go to the bathroom - the wind was blowing really hard & the thunder was really loud. We ended up with 2 dogs & 1 kid in bed with us. I finally took dd back to her bed around 4 & then was pretty much awake until after 6. Then dh's alarm went off at 7! He had physical therapy this morning & we have MOPS, so we had to get up. Needless to say, we are all dragging! Well, except ds who could sleep through a freight train running through the house!! I was just like him when I was a kid - oh to be a kid again! If only for the sleep! I lived about 50 yards from a train track in a basement apartment my junior year in college. Almost every morning, my roomates would say "What time did that train come through last night" and I'd say "the train came through?" Motherhood effectively killed the sleep through anything ability in me! But, I wouldn't trade them even for a few good night's sleep! OK - I've rambled on enough here. Praying everyone has a nice day today!

Congrats Jen!

Amy- do all military folks have one of those battery back up type alarm clocks? No excuses when Uncle Sam is shouting for ya to get into formation... and the higher up you go the more insistent he seems to be about it. LOL Unless you are the one shouting for formation to happen... then you can "Appoint" someone to do the silly thing and take account of who ditched.

Dentists- Yeah still dealing with those... I have two going in today and two going in tomorrow. THEY thought that all of this going in with the kids would de-sensitize me... but I think they have come to the understanding that it IS NOT WORKING. I wrote 3 more paragraphs here and deleted them- Just know that i am not dealing well with this at all.

Sorry about all your dental problems Ezri.

My kids all have checkups/cleanings tomorrow. I need to ask them if they accept any kind of individual dental plans that I could invest in when i lose my insurance. I am more upset at losing dental insurance than medical.

Ez, I am so ppraying for you. I imagine that these appointments would be like someone scheduling me for several needle biopsy. I don't know if I could make myself go even if I HAD to. I don't know what I would do.

I have just realized that I haven't felt my kidney stones all morning! I am SOOOO happy. Maybe I will be able to get this over with yet. Please pray that I won't have to endure any shots other than an IV while I am awake. For some reason I can do IVs and blood draws, but anything else is really iffy,
