And Amy, that's incredible!! Why would someone's education 'suffer' because of a pregnant teacher? I just don't get it ....
Well, I teach Spanish and we don't have any Spanish speaking subs, so yeah... my kids won't learn as much while I'm gone. I'm working incredibly hard to make lesson plans that a non-Spanish-speaking sub can handle and my kids can still learn Spanish, but it won't be the same. They have to take a test at the end of the year and if they don't pass it, they won't get high school credit for Spanish (I teach at a jr. high). If I were a parent, I'd probably be a little frustrated, too. But I"m not a complete moron and I know I'll be gone, so I'm planning accordingly, doing extra work now, skipping all the "fluff" activities and leaving those for the sub

Yes!!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm in NC and it is boiling hot here. It doesn't help either that our AC is acting bizarre. Yesterday it was 84 degrees inside our house because our AC just couldn't handle the work. Miserable  I sweat nonstop, and wake up multiple times in the night soaked in sweat. It's gross. I can't wait until it cools down, but fall doesn't usually come until November here  Last year it was still warm enough at Thanksgiving to wear short sleeves and feel a bit warm while outside.

Thanks! I just have a hard time telling when I'm being hormonal, or when it's legit!
Amy, I wish parents understood how much work we put into getting ready for supply teachers/LTOs. Honestly, we're professionals we know how to do our job. It's a little easier for me for part of my job, I teach primary so as long as they get a qualified primary teacher it should be fine. But I also do rotary French. I am a bit concerned that they won't be able to find a replacement with the same skill level (I grew up bilingual). However, it's the same for every job. Anytime a woman goes on mat. leave there's going to be adjustments to someone new. Kids are far more adaptable than adults! They will go through a little time of sadness/adjustment and then get on with it. Adults have a far harder time with that.
I have a question, is it ok for me to take baking soda - I know weird question. But it's the only thing that gets rid of my heartburn that isn't C, D or X listed! I take a tsp with a little water - it's the absolute grossest thing ever, but it works within seconds!!!  It should be fine...right?

Kathryn I'm not near the end yet and I'm completely weepy! There's no hope for me! You're in my prayers though. I'm praying everything goes smoothly and that God grants you peace. Keep trying to enjoy it, you'll have a little one in your arms soon!

I had no idea Raspberry Tea had an impact on BH.
Leah and Amy - I am sorry you have to deal with the insensitivity of others. I don't know why people say the things they do. I don't think they realize how hurtful and selfish they are being.
Hubby and I went away for the weekend to Michigan (we live in Ohio) for a marriage conference put on by FamilyLife. If any of you have the time, I recommend going. The weekend really puts in perspective the differences between men and women, how we should relate based on how God designed us, and how we can be good parents.

I had to laugh at that. I am usually a go getter anyway, so it's hard to tell if I am nesting or not. I do feel an urgency to get things done. Mostly, though, I am keeping myself busy just to keep my mind from dwelling on labor or lack thereof. I am trying to put together lists for things to do just in case I get my need to do list done. I'm running out of things to do.

I hear you on the emotional thing, Kathryn. I have no other pregnancies to compare to, but honestly, I'm not really an emotional person in general. And I haven't been any more emotional during pregnancy, until about the last week. I'm having a hard time telling if it's just me being emotional, or if my reasons (mostly having to do with family living with us) are legitimate. Likely a combination of both. But I have also realized that most of this is coming from insecurity on my part, which has also brought up other issues with dh and I that I didn't realize were there. I'm not typically an insecure person, but the idea of actually having this baby and worse-case scenario of how things could go when we get home make me feel a little nervous when I think about the fact there will be other people here besides dh and I. Argh, I just need to not think about it too much! And I'm super hot all the time too. It's 62 degrees here today, and I LOVE it! And have all my windows open.
Leah- maybe they meant it as a compliment? As in, "How are we ever going to get by without you if you leave before June?"
I'm still doing 2x/week appointments, next one is tomorrow and I'll be 38 weeks. Baby still has a funny heartbeat, what can you do. And I'm pretty sure there is no room left for this kid, he/she is just packed right in there. All I can feel are body parts in my belly! Otherwise I am completely ready to go. My husband said if I waited until my due date that would be the best for his work schedule.  Good thing he was kidding...kind of!

Maybe, dh said the same thing. I got another comment today: "Hey, congratulations, you must be so excited. Too bad you couldn't have waited until the summer." Sigh... I just gotta keep remembering people are a bit crazy when it comes to their own kids (and so they should be!) God's a bit crazy when it comes to me!

Purejoy I am very very excited for you. You're almost there. Woohoo!!!
Sad note, my cousin (who is due the same time as me) has some problems with her babies. She knew she was having twins - identical. She just found out that they are girls, but both have their hearts developing on the wrong side of their chest cavity. Both will need intensive surgeries right after birth, one will need multiple surgeries before 24 months. Wow! My anatomy scan is next Monday...hope all goes well. I'm not worried, just sad for her. She needs our prayers!

My doc prescribed me Magnesium Trisilicate for my extreme heartburn all through my first pregnancy. It was great (and wonderfully chalky!) and worked better than anything.
