My mom and I are hoping I don't go into labor until she is recovered from her appendectomy. We want her to be here for the birth and right after.

She got to come home yesterday, but is still in pain and having trouble walking and giong up/down stairs is still really painful.

Lily and Emily, Gabby dropped around 32ish weeks and had her head so far in my pelvis that I couldn't cross my legs. She was still *very* comfy in there at 37 weeks and I don't think she would have made her appearance for awhile if we hadn't evicted her.

lol, my husband is horrified about it being so close to Christmas. He was like "Um, could you have planned a little better than that?!" But he's over it now. :)

When we were "planning," I definitely would have planned around having a Christmas baby. Then the planning didn't work and I was more than willing to take a baby whenever it's birthday might be!

We have quite a few December b-days in my family too. Mine is 12/20. The only thing that I didn't like as a kid was when people would say, "this is a birthday and Christmas gift combined". Don't do that to a kid. LOL

I totally agree with this!!! At least wrap their birthday present in birthday paper, not Christmas paper.

At this point, it really is not a big deal. Like I said, just something to whine about.

Brandy, I think my mom thinks we'll fall apart if she isn't here right away. I know I will appreciate her help very much, but it's not like dh is going to let me starve if she isn't here! LOL

Emily, I'm glad your mom is up and around and hope her pain gets better quickly. That's a big surgery, but I'll bet she'll feel tons better in another week or so.

Emily- I forget....did you say your mom's appendix had ruptured? If not, did they do the surgery laparoscopically? That at least should help her recovery time be a little shorter. You just sweet talk that baby into staying there until you're ready.

Ryanne, that sounds about right! I definitely cannot cross the legs... LOL! When it first happened, he felt so low that it took me awhile on the toilet to realize that what I was trying to get out was not going to come out (as it was his head). Sorry if that is TMI, but it's true! LOL

Kati, I'm right with you... we got to the point where it really didn't matter when God gave us a baby, but it ended up being the perfect time of year anyway (just a few years later than expected).

Yes, it ruptured, but they did the surgery with the 3 small incisions instead of the 1 big one.

A lot of times I feel like I have to go to the bathroom, but it is just pressure from his head and I don't really have to go.

Same here! We honestly couldn't have "planned" it better. If this baby comes when it's supposed to, or even a little late (I really am ok with that!) then my 3 months of maternity leave would give me Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years off. That's 5 holidays off.....which as a nurse, will never, ever, happen again!

It's quite normal for first babies to "drop" quite a while before labour. June Bug still has definitely not settled into my pelvis - I'm not feeling any different pressure, and I can still cross my legs ... or I could if my belly wasn't in the way!

Any OB I've had, plus my midwives, have all said Tylenol PM is safe to take after the 12th week ... and that it is far better to take something and get a good night's rest, than to NOT take something and get so worn out that you get REALLY sick.

Sherry, sorry you aren't sleeping well. I hope you got sleep last night!!

Andrew felt the baby move last night!!! Several times!! He wasn't able to feel Nadia move this early, but I was considerably heavier with her. It was so neat. He got so excited when he felt him move. Oh I love this part of pregnancy!!

Cool, Kathryn! There have been several times Brian should have been able to feel the baby move, but he was either sleeping (who does that, anyway? ) or not paying attention. I like to snuggle up behind him when Gideon/Esther is especially active...gives Daddy a back massage.

I have not slept well in three nights. Lots of praying time, but it is wearing on me also. I sleep fine until I get up around 2 or 3 to potty, and then can't get back to sleep. I'm not sure if I should cut out my daytime napping or what, though I didn't have one yesterday and did so much driving, walking, and grocery shopping that I *should* have slept like a rock! Grrr. Oh well...maybe God needs me awake to pray for several heavy prayer needs, so pray I will. But I hope He gives me a break soon because I'm tired.

Joel's the same way. Acutally he's the one that usually does the grocery shopping. But he's completely capable of 'taking care of the house' and is a fantastic cook.

My hubby is a great cook, too! He has wonderful memories of cooking with his mom as a little boy. It was a real bonding experience for them, and it didn't make him the slightest bit girly.

My SIL was born on Jan 6th, so we call her an epiphany.

Yes...my Joel was brought up by his mom and he's got some fantastic memories of learning to bake and cook with her when he was growing up. When we first met he was a much much better cook/baker than I was!

You and me both, Donna!! It's been like that for me for about a week now. It's interesting - my ability to sleep comes and goes in spurts ... some nights I'm awake every hour, some nights I sleep like a log until 5 and can't get back to sleep, others I'm up 2 - 3 times with a half hour of insomnia ... I guess it's my body preparing for the unpredictability of having a baby??

You know I was like that after I'd nurse Nadia. She would eat around 3 and then I had a very difficult time going back to sleep. You know what helped? I would brew a cup of chamomile tea and put it beside my bed and after I got up I'd drink it. I'd fall back asleep within a half an hour everytime. It's worth a try and can't hurt.

My hubby felt the baby move probably 4 days after I felt the kicking from the outside...so that was probably about 2 weeks ago now. I tried every day for those first 3 days to get him to feel the kicks, but his attention span wasn't long enough. Last night baby must have been moving and grooving in there, because dh was able to feel quite a bit.

My ultrasound is a week from today! At this point next week I will probably be drowned from drinking so much water. I'm really not a very good drinker, so that could be a struggle for me. Just thinking about drinking that much in a short time makes me want to gag.

Erin, my exact directions are:

1. Void to empty bladder
2. Finish drinking 4- eight ounce glasses of water ONE HOUR BEFORE your scheduled exam time. Drink WATER, no other liquids.
3. If you are at 33 weeks or more, you need to drink only 24 ounces of water.
4. DO NOT VOID after drinking water

Ok, I guess 4 glasses isn't too bad. But for me to drink all that in the time I get up and have to go to my appointment will not be fun. Like I said...makes me gag thinking about it. Especially because it's water. Juice or something I might be able to do. Eh, how will they know anyway?

They don't care what you drink - but you shouldn't drink 4 glasses (1L) of juice because of all the sugar!! Unless you're doing your GD test at the same time!!

Erin - I was not required to drink before my second trimester U/S ... in fact, my instructions said NOT to drink unless you were less than 13 weeks pregnant. So, your OB might not require it - if they didn't give you instructions to, I'd count yourself lucky! Just drink your normal amount. They still had me empty my bladder during the u/s to get June Bug to move to a better position for the measurements

Erin, call and ask your doctor. Some don't want a full bladder. Mine doesn't, and actually, it's pretty near empty because they have you pee in a cup as soon as you get there. When I worked in ultrasound, they wanted full bladders, so it just depends on the doctor/technician and the machine, I think.

Purejoy, they won't know what you drank. Clear liquids are what they need...apple juice, Gatorade, even lemon-lime soda would be fine.

Kathryn, do you have a sleep rememdy that doesn't involve tea?

The only reason my dr office had me drink water was to check the cervix, after that I could go to the bathroom and enjoy the rest of the u/s. Otherwise, they don't want me to drink anything for this next one.
