Status: offline 		there ARE a lot of positives...I love having my kids close together (1 and 2 are 21 mo apart, 2 and 3 are 24 mo apart, 3 and 4 are 14 mo apart)
I wouldn't have it any other way!
Things you "miss out" on:
having an older child to help out in a practical way
not having 2 kids in diapers LOL

Things you get that are great:
as they grow, they gradually can't remember anything but life with thier younger sibling. They have an amazing bond. It's wonderful to see.
2 kids in diapers CAN be fun...especially if you cloth diaper. Imagine matching dipes...CUTE.
easier to pass on the hand-me-downs..just move them to the other side of the closet LOL
the shocked look on people's faces when you tell them how far apart they are...it's a guilty pleasure..but a pleasure none-the-less LOL
Don't have to worry about the tiny pieces in "big kid" toys...since they're close in age, they can play with the same types of things.

I could go on and on LOL

yup...there are. negatives too, but really it isn't too bad. you will both be fine. just like everything there is a learning curve, and like with any baby the family dynamics have to be re-evaluated and worked out. sometimes it may take a while to get into the swing of things, but it always comes together eventually.

Status: online 		Welcome to your reality check Chelsea ... I tend to forget about that too, until that first queasy hits ... then it comes back and runs me over like a Mack truck!!! And no, it's not too early to feel that way ... I feel that horrid from the day implantation occurs ... seriously! And I consider myself highly lucky if it is gone by 20 weeks (with #1-3, it lasted until delivery!)

Status: offline 		Chelsea- congratulations!!!!! How exciting. As for how you're feeling...yep, anything goes. Were you sick with Mary? It will be fun to have you in here...the prego thread has been quiet since a lot of the ladies graduated in bunches, so we need some new excitement!

Angela- I have not gone to a chiropractor when pregnant, but I know a lot of women that have. I would just call and check it with the chiropractor you go to first to make sure they're comfortable with it.

Donna- Praying for you in many ways! Pregnancy, Brian, how you're feeling, etc. And almost to the six week countdown...wow! So I'm also praying that with everything else you have going on, this baby comes in perfect timing.

Chelsea!!!!! I am so excited for you and your hubby... and Mary! Congratulations missy!!!! And yay for you guys deciding to move closer to family. That is a great decision! I wish I could hug you!

Angie - my chiro adjusted me all through out my pregnancy. I did ask before I made the first pregnant appt if he could/would adjust me.

YEP! He stayed away from a few areas, namely lower back, but could get good adjustment through hip manipulation and the always fun neck twister. I saw him regularly for sciatic pain. It was fun this past week to see him sans pregnancy and be able to get my lower back properly done!!

I'm here...fat feet and all. LOL

It just occurred to me yesterday (probably because I talked to a lot of physical therapy/rehab people yesterday) that Brian will not likely be there when this baby is born. Even if he is home, he will probably not be mobile enough to be at the hospital in that way. I still want the kids there and my friend to watch them, and my mom will be there for me. I'm trying to be okay with that, because, after all, he is ALIVE. But it's hard... Maybe by some miracle, he might be able to be there for at least the "end" of labor, but I really think I need to prepare myself that he is not going to be there. And there will be no laboring by the lake or trying for a natural labor...nope, give me the epi, get this baby out (when it's time), and let me go home.

Overall, I'm doing okay. Emotional here and there, but probably would be even if I wasn't pregnant. Life changes in an instant...I'm just glad he is here and has a body to be able to work on. We'll get through the rest, by the grace of God.

Status: offline 		I decided to hold off on going to the chiro. My doc said it is ok, and the chiro did too, but I am going to try other methods namely heat at home. I have been using a heating pad in the evenings, and that helps a ton with the pain. Plus, I have been stretching and watching my posture. My struggle seems to be sitting at my desk at work. I am going to bring a pillow today to see if it helps.

Donna - I pray Brian will make a speedy recovery and will be at the birth.

Speaking of kids, I am trying to figure out if my 9 year old son should be at the birth and how much he should see. Is birth traumatizing for kids? Is it hard for them to see Mom in pain? Is it scary? Any moms' out there with experience on this?

Anyway, really pray about it...and if a child is in there, prepare them for things that can't be controlled.


Donna...I fully understand the reality of life getting in the way of the ideal dream in your head of how things will go. There have been a few times that we weren't sure if Paul would be able to be there at the birth. The hardest to deal with was when he was in Iraq....God worked it out though and he was able to be there (so far) for every one of our births. I will definitely be praying that things work out somehow..that Brian is able in some way to be there for you during this birth.

Erin, yay for the third trimester!

I need to vent a little. Dave lost his job in May, and we are really struggling financially. It seems like every day I wind up in a mental whirlwind of "AAAAHHH!! How are we going to support ourselves, nevermind this new little life?" I'm exhausted/uncomfortable/stressed out. I'd really appreciate your prayers during these last few weeks of pregnancy, that we would place our trust in God and not allow these circumstances to steal the joy of Josiah's arrival.

My 5 yo girl watched the birth of our 4th child. She did great.
however, I personally wouldn't allow a 9yo boy to watch the birth, for modesty reasons. I would allow him to stand at my head and watch and support...but not to watch the actual birth. Just me though

Status: offline 		I guess I wasn't very specific. I wouldn't want him watching the baby comes out. I was meaning mainly having him in the room.

The more I think about it the less I am likely to let him stay in the room during the birth. He has never seen me in pain. I don't want him to fear losing his mom. He has been fearing (only lately) that I will die. This may bring on that fear, and I don't think I am strong enough to console him AND bring a new baby into the world. Maybe it is best for him to have innocent thoughts of how babies come into this world........ via stork. haha!

Oh, Yach, I pray for you. Lose of a job is hard and the consequences (financially especially) are even more difficult.

Status: offline 		Donna, I have been thinking of you and praying for you every day. I'm so thankful for your inspiring faith despite what you have been through, it has challenged me to look at myself and my trust in God.

Alright, I am sure all this feeling yucky is not in my head now. At first I thought it might be all in my head just because I found out I was pregnant but no. I definitely feel yucky in the morning. I feel so bad because when Mary gets up we come out to the living room and I turn on the tv and lay on the couch. I don't like her to watch tv but there isn't much else I can do at this point! I wish the pregnancy thread I posted in with Mary was still around so I could see if I felt like this then!

Praying for you, too, Megan. Gabe's been looking for a job since May and I know how stressful it is. We're blessed that I have a job, so it's not a financial crunch (yet), but still not what we'd like. I hope your husband finds something soon and that y'all can still fully enjoy your baby's birth.
