I'm very sorry for your loss, Thrilled.

I'm back and looks like I'm ok. The blood pressure, urine, ears and throat all looked fine. They did give me something for the headaches and nausea. Midwife said it sounded like tension headaches, and had some advice for treating those that didn't involved medication. I appreciated that.

HUGS Thrilled!!!!

Sideways - what techniques did the midwife give you to get rid of your headaches? I have been battling headaches quite a bit and would love a way to deal with them.

My headaches are right where the base of the skull meet the back of the neck. She said to alternate heat and cold, because the pain is caused from muscles pulling on the skull. She also showed me pressure points right below the skull.

If you know someone, ask for a good head and neck massage. They often only take 15 minutes or less, and don't have the modesty issues that a full massage has.

ETA: Also, she said that if you're constantly taking Tylenol, you may need to get a non-Tylenol prescription, as your body may actually get hooked on Tylenol. She had a much fancier way of explaining it, but that was the gist.

Also, if your caffeine intake has drastically changed lately (up or down), that will also cause headaches.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Thrilled. That's so sad

I have a question that I hope is not off topic. Because I was originally due in July, I've been getting a lot of coupons in the mail this month. They will all expire before my baby is due in December, so I was going to go ahead and buy some of the things now since I have the coupons. I can always stock up on soap, shampoo, wipes, etc. while I have a good deal, right? I got some coupons last week for diapers, though, and I'm not sure what would be best to do about them. They're for jumbo packs of diapers, but they're for several dollars off, so I hate to not use them, I just don't know what size would be best to buy if I do go ahead and buy them now. What do y'all think? I have 3 coupons for Jumbo packs of Pampers diapers. (I think WalMart will let you return unopened items if I don't end up being able to use the diapers for some reason or another, so that shouldn't be an issue).

Also, I have a week and a half to convince Gabe that we do want to find out the sex of the baby at our next sonogram

Amy, regarding diapers, we used newborn size for only one week, so one pack of those ones were good. Then we only used size 1 for a few weeks. Size twos we went through really quickly, and then we used size threes for a long long time. We're just starting to use fours. So... my recommendation is to get size 2 or 3.
If you're having a shower, you might be likely to get newborns and size 1's for gifts, so it might be best to stick with the larger sizes. It might seem premature to buy those bigger sizes, but by the time you need them, you'll be glad that you already have them!

And, if you have leftovers from one size of diapers (I recently had half a sleeve of size 3's left that were too small) you could easily give them away. I brought mine and left them in the nursery at our church. They keep a pretty good supply at the nursery of different sizes, so I thought that would be a good place to put them.

That's part of the reason I want to buy some things now when I can find a good deal... I doubt I will have a shower or get gifts from anyone other than close relatives. We just left our church, so I won't have a church shower, and if Gabe gets a job, I'll be leaving my job and won't have a shower at work either. I'll give up the work-shower for him to have a job, though

So maybe I'll go to WalMart in the next few weeks and look into getting some bigger sizes. I have a friend who is due in September and if I can't use my coupons, I'll give them to her.

((((((((((((Thrilled)))))))))))) Praying for you.

Ruth, I'm glad it was nothing serious and glad you went in to make sure. I hope you can keep the headaches away...I know sometimes when you have ongoing headache and nausea, they can make a vicious cycle.

Well, it appears as though a good chunk of my maternity clothes have been lost. Last time around I bagged and tagged a good bit of them and put them in the garage. dH is the only one who ever cleans out the garage. I do a lot around the house, but he handles the garage. And so far my maternity clothes are yet to be found.

dH says it's possible he threw them out, but we'll do a more complete search this weekend. I have a few clothes I kept in my closets, but if we don't find the bag soon, I'm really starting to need at least a few pants. I'm good for shirts for a little while.

Ok, so if you want to buy some smaller sizes, this is about what we used... (this is all relevent, because your baby could be bigger and never even wear newborn size) But, just for a rough idea...
We used NB size from the hospital and went through one small package at home. Then we used 2 large packages of size 1's (80-ish in a package) then we were on to 2's. Chase was 8 lbs when he was born.

Oh, Ruth, that's too bad about the mat clothes. Hopefully they are around there somewhere!

My last two kids have needed size 1 from the start and were in size 2 by a month old, where they hung out for a couple months. I don't even bother to buy newborn diapers anymore, but remember, my last two were over 9 pounds.

Ruth, I hope the clothes show up somewhere. How frustrating. How are you feeling today?

We used two packages of N sizes and I have 5 left, should have only gotten one package. We also used hte rest of a pack of 1's from the hosp. They started off real big but now are almost perfect even if a bit high on her back.

If I knew what size she was going to be before delivery I would have only bought 1 package of N's with the cord notch.

I will use the leftovers to catch milk that pours out while I nurse her on the other side.

Or...you could set them aside for some day when she has a dolly she wants to diaper.

Ah, better, thank you. Still tired, and I would've liked to get more sleep (wouldn't we all), but the nausea is a lot better, as are the headaches.

Good news.

And yes, most of us could probably do with more sleep. Though I am NOT complaining...both my little ones slept until 8:30 this morning, praise be to God! LOL!

Of course Amy, you could end up with the opposite problem like I did. We got nearly all size 1's and 2's for shower gifts. . .and she has yet to get out of newborn size diapers. She's got a good half pound to go before they start fitting and she's 3 months old! But then, I guess it's not so bad. At least nothing is getting wasted. We just are having to buy diapers when we were really looking forward to not having to spend anything on them for a while.

Thanks, Everyone. I'm doing okay today. Yesterday I felt very hormonal just like I did after I had my girls. I was extremely weepy. My bleeding has stopped today. I plan to go to the doctor, but not with my current one.

Well, dH did find my maternity clothes. Turns out my memory failed me and I was looking for the wrong colored bag. I put them through the wash, and the funny part is that the last time I was pregnant, I was working full time. So, between work and church, a lot of my maternity clothes are dressy/professional. I'll be the fanciest pregnant, SAHM on the block.

LOL Ruth ... I'm glad you found the clothes. I am so happy that I have less than a month to go with this pregnancy, as I'm bursting out of these mat clothes ... and this lot was bought just a month or so ago when I outgrew all my mat clothes from baby #4!!!
