Janine, just take the K'tan to a tailor, they would probably charge you $10 for the alteration(or less). Most dry cleaners have or do tailoring.

Do you have a womens group you could test run with? By that I mean women that won't mind if they get a little peak, if they happen to look, or that can give you the honest truth of how much you are showing? I"m thinking like a bible study group or something that isn't mixed company. They could be your test market so to speak. Ok and never in a million years would I have thought of a tailer and the K'tan, what a great suggestion. Filing that away.

See, the thing is I can Always use a bedroom, but I miss most of the meeting that way and it just seems pointless to go. It's been a month and I Need to figure out a way to 'get over it' and nurse in public. If you're feeding him just before you walk out the door how on earth are you missing out on that much church?

It's a half hour drive to our small group, there is usually 20 minutes of worship, 20-40 minutes of prayer requests and so by the time we finally GET to study I have to leave mid-way through. Feeding Jadon, for me, takes 20-40 minutes. I guess I could just let him be fussy, keep giving him the passy, and hope he sleeps on the way home and feed him once I get home.

Maybe you could give him the paci during the worship, feed him during the prayer requests (which seems to coincide with the amount of time you need for a feed!), then come back in for the study.

Sarah has a good idea... we live about 45 minutes from church, so we would leave a little early, and I would feed him in the car when we got there and then he could make it the whole service. Do you have a bobby pillow Janine? I find that hides a lot. I used to b/f in front of hubby's family all the time, used the pillow and once he was latched, just made sure that my shirt was brought down close so they couldn't see much. And, if we needed a little more discretion, I put a blanket over my shoulder, just to cover the side view, but didn't put the blanket directly over baby. ETA... is there a spot that you can pull a chair just outside the group, but still hear what is going on? I used to do that too in our small group, they met in the living room, I just pulled a chair behind the circle and fed him there, just out of view.

I never did try feeding him in his carseat though a few times the thought crossed my mind. I was to concerned about what passing cars would think. We have nursed in parking lots or rest areas a lot though to get to the next destination.

I fed Hannah in the carseat several times on our last trip to Mississippi. We also have privacy-tinted windows in the back, and no way were we stopping to feed the baby if the other two kids were sleeping! I did have to unbuckle to manage it comfortably, but I was okay with that as long as I didn't have to unbuckle her.

Yeah I like that idea...hold off on feeding him until you get to church and feed him during the prayer time. quote:
You could also try letting someone other then you hold him...dad maybe....cause it might simply be that he smells you and therefore is getting hungry or wanting to nurse because of that. Or you could just keep him in his carset if he's content. We used to do that with Hannah...I'd feed her and then if I didn't feel like holding her for the rest of the service I'd swaddle her if she was tired or just give her a couple of soft toys and strap her back into her car seat. Easy peasy!

I have another question: Learning to bf my daughter was difficult, not impossible, but difficult. For all you who have done it second, third, etc.... Is it easier the subsequent times around? I would think so, even though the baby needs to learn, you would remember, right?
