John was very prolific writer too. He was not a packrat as far as things go. Just journals, papers, etc. I have numerous legal pads full of his writings.

Did you read it all? If you don't feel comfortable telling me here, you can PM me. It is so overwhelming. I have already decided to start a word file with his favorite quotes, for the girls. There are so many, and they speak to who he was.
I had read some things at CS's invitation while he was still alive.

When I was packing up the house after his death, I did read a few of his writings . . . but not all of it. One reason for this was because of the time frame I was working in regarding vacating the house. Another reason was because I felt I was invading his privacy . . . for example, his 2nd wife, to whom he had been married for 22 years, had Alzheimer's. Because of that, the last 2 years of her life was very tumultuous for both of them. He wrote a lot about that.

I didn't want to just dispose of the writings, so I would read the title or at least enough text to realize who or what was the subject. I gave a lot of his writings away to various people.

I'm not sure if any of this helped or not . . . the similarities that you and I share is that we are both widows and we both deeply loved our husbands. The difference is that your marriage spanned decades; mine didn't. My life with CS was short . . . and a lot of what he wrote about was from another lifetime, so to speak.

I hope you continue to share more of John's thoughts with us.

I know. Deeply.

The day I started inventorying everything, the day I packed up his photography studio, the day I had the estate auction . . . These events (and others that involved going through his things) were very hard for me.

And I know that you are also taking your girls into consideration; that's got to be a responsibility that I'm sure can sometimes feel more like a burden.

May Our Lord bless you and wrap you in His Comfort.

Hmm. Not sure what that is supposed to mean Dude.

It was just one of the many many many things I found in his singles files.

It did not seem that weird to me. Kinda true actually, of course not in all situations. It was not supposed to be reflection on my marriage.

'splain please.
For me that just meant, "There's mot much I can add to that." Nothing bad. I promise.

I had not thought of that. Really the only thing that pre-dates me is some of his papers he wrote in bible college. I felt a little funny at first when I read some of his prayer journals. I would never have thought to read them when he was alive, although he did share with me what was in them on occasion. I really feel like he would want me to read them now though. Thank you for sharing about CS. It really has been helpful. I am going to continue to read everything. I guess it does not matter how long it takes.

I will, I have to say though, that there a alot of quotes that I know where not his, and there is no name to give credit to, so I will only use those if they are really good.

I had a very productive day.
I set aside my husbands papers for the day and my youngest daughter and I set up her new bed and moved an antique desk into her room that I found second hand. She was very excited. I just need to get her new mattresses this week, and she will be all set. She has not been able to sleep in her room since her cousin stayed the night awhile back and lets just say "soiled" the mattresses to the point that I had to toss them out. I will be happy to have my bed to myself again too.

How has it been going these past few days?

Have you found any other quotes or other writings that you'd like to share with us?

I have not gone through any more of my husbands papers. My nieces kids have been sick with bonchitis(sp) most of the week, so I have had all 4 kids. Today I had just the babies, but my car was broken into last night and I spent the morning cleaning up glass. So much for Scottsdale being low on crime. I have had my car stolen and now my new car was broken into I think they were looking for personal information, they stole the registration booklet and my trash bag.
I am so worried about our safety that I am having security doors put on my french doors. They won't look as pretty, but my kids will feel safer.
So, back to my husbands papers (sorry for the rabbit trail). I will not be spending any time on them, until I get the garage organized enough, to put my car in it and have a garage sale.
My group that I co-lead is also doing a booth at this years Harvest Festival, so I will be busy with that. I am also behind on other things, so it may be awhile until I get back to them(his papers).

BTW - You had to go all the way to the third page to find my thread. That is quite a hike. I was actually thinking about letting this thread drop off. But I guess it's here for awhile longer.

I am having a blah day.
I can't connect it to anything in particular.

I have moments like this on very rare occasions, but I am usually able to shake it off very quickly.
I am not grieving.
Just feeling blah.

My analitical mind will not let go of it and I keep trying to figure out "what" is causing it because I keep thinking if I know why, I can make it go away.
I am normally a very optimistic, up person......today I feel like Eeyore.
[Eeyore voice] Thanks for listening. [/Eeyore voice]

Ya'll who can give your spouse a 'just because' squeeze hug, please do, cuz if Hubby was here right now, that's what I would do. You have no idea how lucky you are that you can. 'Kay nuff said.

Thanks Lioness!!! *hugs*

Been super busy, and have had the worst allergies this fall. I feel like I have had one continuous sinus headache for 3 days.

I am hoping you are doing well my friend......I am praying for you.

Good morning Shar-Mar, Nadine, and other frequenters of this thread.

I just wanted to pop in and say hello.. My friend's been reading me the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh lately but I couldn't last night because I was so tired I would have fallen asleep..

...so instead I'll just sit a bit in the hundred acre wood....

LOL; thanks!

It actually started out as one of my headshots. Then, after playing with Photo Shop, I ended up with what you see.

The humor of it all resonates deeply with me.

I'm so sorry you've been suffering from that, WfB. The allergies, not the busy. Although too much busy is just...well, too much.
