Pray for the Lord to open doors of opportunity. In a small town, everything is in who know, or in who they know. Tell everyone you meet not only that you are looking for a job, but what kind of job you are looking for. You might be surprised where a good job lead comes from. In many cities, commuting takes at least an hour each way, especially if you are coming in from either the suburbs or the small towns surrounding the city. I have a friend who commutes 1 hr 15 minutes each way from a small town outside the Dallas/Ft Worth area, and it's only as short as it is becuase she works in an office that offers flex time--she is at work by 6 am, and leaves around 3:30 each day, so she misses rush hour both ways. When she has to work late or go in later, commute is more like 2 hours and up each way. So be sure to consider rush hour traffic, not just distance to the city during non-peak times. With the price of gas these days, you might be better off taking a job closer to home for less pay, than a higher paying job that is further away.
