You know you're a 70s kid when you appear in all your childhood photographs wearing polyester plaid.

Or your parents are wearing it!

My dad had leisure suits in every color imaginable .

My dad had a cobalt blue leisure suit. My mother always made sure he only wore it when she wasn't going to be with him. LOL!!!!

Oh, and he had a pair of white patent leather loafers. Thank heaven he never wore them with the leisure suit. ROFLOL!

My country cousins were the ones wearing the white shoes with matching white belts.

Good grits-n-gravy but they was tacky....

No kidding. My dad only wore those in the early 60s when he was part of a band who wore them. He wouldn't let my mother throw them away, so they must have been in his closet for 20 years.

Has anybody mentioned The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman yet? We were just talking about them at dinner tonight and I couldn't remember if I saw them mentioned on this thread yet or not. But I loved those shows!

I was talking to a young woman the other day and I mentioned Smokey and the Bandit. She said she'd heard of them, but wasn't sure what songs they sang.

I was more of a fan of Earache My Eye and Sister Mary Elephant instead, however I didn't hear them until the 80's though.

How about Nerf Balls, Slinky's, etc?

Did I mention playdough yet? Remember how you could apply it to a newspaper and then you could stretch and twist the image that was imprinted?

I remember that too. They repackaged it and called it Silly Putty.

Does anyone remember the wiggle worm? It was an attachment for the garden hose that wiggled around every which way.

Or how about when SlipnSlide made it's first appearance. My cousin, who was staying with us for the summer, earned some money and bought one at the local Ben Franklin store. No one in my neighborhood had one, and about a day or so after we started playing with ours, about 40 kids showed up from the neighborhood to take part. That thing lasted about a week, but we sure had fun while it lasted. LOL!

I remember slip and slide and was bummed that my family never owned one!

Somehow I am reminded of Sit & Spin also.

I was fortunate to have the Mickey Mouse Rollercoaster though.

Those made me dizzy...

How about the "Big Wheel"... was that a 70's thing or an 80's thing?

Oh yes, I had one of those back in the 70's! I would always end up losing the back adjusting seat though which would make it annoying to ride instead.

We had a SlipnSlide and most of the kids in the neighborhood were over at our house playing on it ....... and getting hurt. None of their parents sued us either.

Now how did they get hurt? Did they spin too fast where they tottled over?

Also, remember Twister too?

And how about School House Rock?

What about the Playskool school house? That was one of my favorite toys when I was about 7 years old (1971). It had little people with no arms or legs--a teacher and about 4 students--, little desks, a little playground, the side opened out to make a blackboard, and it had chalk and an eraser for it. It had a little tray that slid underneath that held magnetic letters that went on the roof. It was the coolest toy!

I remember that but I did not own one at all, after all, I was just a boy.

Now what I did want that my parents never got me was one of those easy bake ovens instead.

I had an Easy Bake Oven, but my dad was an electrician and a lot like Tim Taylor..... needless to say, it didn't last too long.

I had a Baby Alive, but she couldn't "take care of business" so I couldn't feed her. My dad was going to fix her for me, but the memories of the Easy Bake Oven were still too fresh in my memory. I couldn't bear to see another toy wind up in Toy Heaven.

I remember the playskool school bus. It had the little round characters with no arms and legs. I was too old to have one of those, but my little brother had one. He also had a big wheel (again, that came out after I was too old to have one).

Mike,

I think Roberta meant kids got hurt on the slip and slide. Flopping on your belly on the hard ground usually does damage -- water covered plastic or not. LOL! Of course it might help to to only weigh about 60 pounds.

I was born in 79 but I remember silly putty. Didn't it come in an egg shaped container?

What was the name of that guy? I can hear his voice, and see his face, but I can't remember his name. And I know he was Merv Griffin's bandleader. Maybe I'll go look it up. It's bugging me.
