Luckily people did not concentrate on her head because the slip she wore (I think the same friend went shopping with her) was a few inches too short for the dress.

Don't worry about Cindy, nothing fazes her. We had a wonderful time, even with the moments of intense fellowship when she forgot where she packed the camera.

Not to mention when our vocalist (a friend who is a professional singer) turned up with near laryngitis and sounded like Kenny Rogers on steroids.

Oh my...this story is getting better every post!!

You haven't heard the half of it. Wait until I get to the part about the football game and the minister.

Oh...no....I gotta hear this one!

A UT game? Who was the minister and what did she say to him???

I was (almost) late for the wedding because of an NFL playoff game. We were married on December 16, and in those days the playoffs started earlier. I couldn't leave at that point.

I thought that she would surely understand.

When everyone was there and we were ready to start the wedding, the minister came up to us and breathlessly said:

"Would you mind if I went down the street to quickly perform a wedding in (a large church). Their minister didn't show up, three hundred people have been waiting anxiously for two hours, and the mother of the bride is in hysterics."

We said "Sure, go ahead."

Roflol...I'm not so sure I would have been as nice about the reason you were late but the minister thing...I might have agreed to. Nothing like a no show minister!!!

Let's see I forgot my shoes...until my sister and college roommate ran back to the house to get them I would have gave new meaning to the barefoot bride. Before I left for the church my "Much"older brothers decided to fix a water heater problem so they turned off the water...in other words...I would have been a barefoot bride but a smelly one too...late August afternoon wedding...but fortunately I took my bath before they did that. Next my sister, sisters-in-law, and about half of my family decided to go shopping an hour before we were suppose to be at the church for pictures. They pulled up as I was peeling out of the driveway. Got to the church to find the folks who cleaned it that morning turned off the A/C and forgot to turn it back on until they showed up for the wedding...remember this was a 3pm wedding in late August in the South...we managed to get through the wedding with standing room only...my wonderful wedding director wouldn't let folks be seated after the time for the start of the wedding. (300 people)...then after the wedding my new mother-in-law wanted my photographer that I was paying a huge fee for to take several family portraits WITHOUT me. I think I responded with "if you wanted a family portrait you could have gone to Olin Mills" when she told me it had been years since they had one taken. Well...after nearly 24 years of marriage and several kids later...I know how to not treat the new daughter-in-law before we get out of the church! We (me & MIL) get along wonderfully now but needless to say the first 5 years or so were kind of rocky!

So...that is my wedding day "funnies"!!!

So, what did your bunch do while your minister went to perform the other ceremony?

Oh yeah, December 16th weddings . I forgot we had that in common.

Oh...I forgot to add that our minister was a Billy Graham in training and decided to spend at least 30 minutes of the wedding ceremony giving a salvation sermon and almost an alter call before getting to our vows...Did I mention it was a late August afternoon wedding in the south with almost no A/C and 300 people stacked into the church?? I was wearing my veil over my face...as was the custom back in 1984 and I was about to faint...my soon to be hubby kept pulling me back up straight when I would tilt a bit to the left!!! In the meantime my 4 "much" older brothers were sitting in the pew behind me passing the hanky and bawling. Then when it was time for my hubby to kiss me he pulled up my veil...kissed me and then pulled it back down. By that time the entire church was roaring with laughter. Yes...it was a 3 ring circus but it has given us many years of laughter remembering it.

Lynn...mercy!

Our funny was that one of hubby's groomsmen asked me if it was okay to do this to hubby and I gave it my whole hearted blessing.

He put a wide strip of masking tape on the bottom of each of hubby's shoes. One shoe said "HELP" and the other shoe said "ME" in HUGE black, block letters. When we knelt at the bench to pray the whole church roared with laughter. Hubby whispered and asked me what was so funny and I told him he'd find out later. At the reception the groomsman who did it told him to look at the bottoms of his shoes.

I would have laughed myself silly over that too. What was his response when he found out?

I don't have any wedding funnies or bloopers.

Lynn, he laughed and asked the photographer to get pictures of it. She had already taken pictures of them while we were praying.

I've been enjoying reading y'all's stories.

My first wedding . . . gnats got up in between the layers of lace and netting and tulle of my dress . . . BEFORE the ceremony.

My wedding with CS, I can't think of anything that went wrong; it was a wonderful, perfect wedding . . . and I also got several requests to bake carrot cakes for people. Fiddle; I should have started a business from that.

I've been in enough wedding parties to know that's very true!

I remember at my best friend's wedding. I was the maid of honor and it was a very warm day in a church with no air conditioning. Before the ceremony, a couple of us took the bride to a private room, hoisted up her skirts and set up fans to try to keep her cool.

During the actual wedding, we were so worried someone in the bridal party would pass out. We were lined up these marble steps and figured if anyone passed out, it would be VERY painful... Fortunately no one did - although her dad nearly did a nose dive after giving away the bride and tripping on her train...

I just got my hair cut.

I said shoulder length, not chin length!

How long is your chin?

I read that as being about the hair on your chin.

Doing well. It's the weekend...

These next few weeks are going to be super busy though. Tomorrow morning, I'm doing a 5K run for a church ministry fundraiser. After that, I need to go grocery shopping & such for mom's day then spend the rest of the day cleaning the house, mowing the lawn & tidying up as I have 12 family members coming over for mothers day (4 of them are moms). Sunday of course is the big party.

Next weekend I will be out of town visiting my uncle and going for a ride along with one of the officers in his area OR I will spend Saturday helping my family with a garden makeover for my grandma (shhhhh! It's her mothers day gift), then Sunday going to the annual music ministry BBQ...

The following weekend, well... You get the idea...
