More reason to avoid (T)he (B)lasphemer (N)etwork

Azariah Southworth of TBN (The Remix) out of the closet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Local Nashvillian and host of The Remix, a popular Christian youth show, Azariah Southworth, announced today that he has come out.

"This has been a long time coming. I'm in a place where I'm at peace with my faith, friends, family and more importantly myself. I know this will end my career in Christian television, but I must now live my life openly and honestly with everyone. This is my reason for doing this," Southworth says.

Southworth has been hosting and producing the popular Christian TV show, The Remix for a year and a half. It is in syndication and can be seen in more than 128 million homes worldwide. It averages more than 200,000 viewers weekly on one of three networks. It has featured major Christian acts such as Jars of Clay, Avalon, Superchick, Building 429 and Rachael Lampa.

Southworth has been featured in national publications such as Charisma Magazine and many other national Christian media outlets.

"I know I will be cut off from many within the Christian community, and if so, then they didn't get the point of the life of Christ. I believe by me living my life honestly and authentically now, I am able to be a better person and a better Christian. We all know there are so many other gay people in the Christian industry; they're just all scared. I was scared, but now I'm no longer afraid," notes Southworth."

Southpark! East of eden, nothing! Now were going south..... towards the pit. The pit and pendulum, time eventually runs out and the prisoner will be executed. The one who sins is a slave to sin, no one who continues to sin lives in The Truth. Now a slave has no inheritance in the family of God, but a son remains forever. Remain in Me, is written, and I in you to My Father's Glory that you bear much fruit and ask whatsoever you will in My Name and I will do it. But the wrath of God abides on unbelievers.

Sad, not that he came "Out", but that he does not believe Scripture and seems to promote a "Me" Gospel, and to hell with the instructions from God;

(Rom 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

(Rom 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

and

(1Th 4:3) For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

I wonder if TBN will cut the cancer of sin out of their organization or promote the life Style.

At least he was big enough to step down from his position of influence.

I didn't seee anywhere that he said that he was stepping down. It just said that it will end his career in Christian television. That's his little dig to say that Christians will drive him out for proclaiming and advocating his willing sinful behavior

Is my memory failing me.. but on a related note.. didn't Paul Crouch also get hit with gay relationship scandals last year?

Ok then. I change my stance to "at least he knows he can't stay in his position of influence."

Dangerous, that.

From a very popular Gay (Nathan Exposed) blog: (I cannot post the link to the blog because it violates the TOS).

quote:

After coming out in the gay press two days ago, there has been some fallout in the "Christian industry" for televangelist Azariah Southworth. Nashville columnist Nathan West, who writes for the local gay newspaper Out & About, has done an interview with Southworth. An excerpt:

Nathan: What is the current status of The Remix? [Southworth's show.] Has it been canceled, and/or do the networks even know you came out yet?

Azariah: I do know that as of today (Thursday) the second day of all the chaos, one network has taken The Remix off the air. I have not heard from the other two networks. I do know they are soon to follow.

Nathan: Is the show something you’d want to fight for? If you love it and it’s your passion, would you be curious to see if you can stand up and insist that the show go on, since you are the producer?

Azariah: I know these people, and this crowd. It’s the whole Pat Robertson and TBN crowd. There is no way in this lifetime they will allow a openly gay person on their networks. I wouldn’t fight for it because I know the fight would be in vain. I’m hoping that secular networks will come forth and be interested in picking it up. It really is a great show concept and very fast paced and I still own the rights to it! I know it would do great on something like MTV, FUSE, LOGO, etc.

Nathan: I’m sure there are many gay men and women in Christian media who are hiding in the closet. Is it something everybody knows but doesn’t talk about? Do you know if anyone else plans on coming out specifically because you did?

Azariah: I have actually received several emails from people actually coming out to me that are in the Christian industry. Sometimes everyone does know about “that one person in the office” but no one dares talk about it. No one has come to me saying they have plans to come out but I have been told they wish they had the courage to.

The fallout from the Christin "Industry" should be the least of his worries. I guess he forgot that he has to stand before almighty God and make an account

Seems like he follows the God/Jesus of Joel Osteen.

lw9 -> RE: TBN Youth TV Host "Comes Out" (4/22/2008 7:18:08 PM)

What stands out for me is that he knew his lifestyle would not be accepted by the networks yet he continued in the lie and did what was beneficial for himself and his career. Now he's got a popular show on his hands and he's hoping the secular stations will pick it up, so I guess it was a little more 'safe' [and advantageous] to come out. How dishonorable is that.

colliefan -> RE: TBN Youth TV Host "Comes Out" (4/22/2008 7:55:02 PM)

What will come from this will be how "hateful and unloving" are those who condemn his lifestyle. I see him going on Oprah and having her and her audience cry rivers of tears. Perhaps his show will be picked up by Bravo

Possible candidates will be either E!, VH1, Bravo, MTV, or Logo.

Well... since the guy was lying to everybody he knew, I guess I'm not that angry at TBN and I'm not really thinking this is their fault. I know that is heresy around here, but I really don't care. I disagree with this man's choice of lifestyle (because it is a choice and not a state of being) and I vehemently disagree with his invoking the life of Christ to defend himself. At least he is willing to stand up for his own choices. If TBN does not sack his backside, they have indeed slid far from their ideals. However, I won't stoop to slander...

such as this. As a heterosexual Christian, I must admit that the thing I'm most embarrased about with this whole situation is the backlash that they are going to get that IS "hateful and unloving". If you disagree, fine, I do to... just be civil about it... please...

At the end of the age, there are going to be a lot of people that God has to get straight on a number of issues (no pun intended), I just don't want one of my issues to be that I beat God's flock when I should have been caring for it.

Seems apropos.

earthless -> RE: TBN Youth TV Host "Comes Out" (4/23/2008 7:49:14 AM)

Since when did slander have its definition altered? When the majority of TBN's broadcasting is chock full of heresy and manipulation of Scripture for financial gain, it is not a false statement to say it is the the blasphemer network.

Greetings Adam. Please enlighten me as to where this is slander. If 90% of what appears on TBN is unbiblical and bordering on heresy, how is calling it The Blasphemer's Network slander?

With my Bible in my hand and the Holy Spirit as my guide, I would have absolutely NO problem saying the same thing directly to Paul Crouch's face.

Of course, like my fellow Berean earthless, I would probably then have a curse placed on me and my family

Sartrian,
And your point is.......?? Could you be just a bit more specific? Whose the one being persecuted for Christ here?

According to Hinn and Crouch - my family (starting with me) should have all dropped dead over a decade ago for "touching the anointed".

How do you arrive at 90%? If you haven't broken down what is said that is true or isn't true then you are committing slander. Can you show the rest of us where you came up with this number?

We'll see if TBN does the right thing or not. I guess if Judas fooled the 11 hand picked apostles of Christ that this guy pulling the wool over the eyes of the Crouches couldn't have been too difficult. ; )
