Hi everyone something so painful today I can not talk about it, please pray.

Papa
You know what is on lightshineon's heart today
You know the upset this situation is causing her.
Help our dear sister to wait upon You and be of
good courage because You O Lord promise that
You will strengthen the hearts of those who do this.
By waiting on You - may lightshineon renew her strength in You;
May she mount up with [spiritual] wings as an eagle [above her circumstances];
May she [spiritually] run [this difficult race] and not be weary
and walk [the walk of faith] and not grow faint [in her mind].
Thank You Heavenly Father that underneath are
Your everlasting arms and great is Your faithfulness.
I want to thank and praise You for who You are and
all you mean to us - Your mercies are new every morning -
Truly - great is Your faithfulness.
So Papa - please help lighshineon to keep her mind fixed on You
and not on her present circumstances and You will give her peace;
Fill her mind with faith words Holy Spirit
And help her to walk on the water [of faith] keeping her
eyes fixed on Jesus and not listening to the noise of the
storm around about her. This is not easy Papa but may
Your Holy Spirit help her and strengthen her to do so.
Be with her today and with her loved ones also.
May lightshineon be a blessing to others and when she is feeling
stronger - may You bring comfort through her life into the
lives of others with the same comfort with which You will comfort her
during this time.
Thank You Papa and thank you for lightshineon.
AMEN

Thank you, Little_1, for praying for others. This thought from your prayer for lightshineon is so important. Yes, our minds need to be filled with faith words. What a blessed prayer.

I'm praying for you, light!

I have somewhat of a selfish prayer: tomorrow I am attending the funeral of a coworker's 3-year-old son who died unexpectedly on Friday. I am so not looking forward to going, there is so much sadness, but it's the very least I can do ... to be there and give her and her family emotional and spiritual support, and I could use prayer to be strong through it, and be a good witness to our Lord.

And, of course, please lift this family up in prayer. The last words out of the little boy's mouth before he fell asleep and she left for work were "Mommy, I want you to stay home with me today."

Oh...that is sooo sad!

I don't think your prayer is selfish at all. Grief, deep grief is hard to be around.

I am praying....

I have a deep grief of heart, also. Almost unbearable pain at times.

As I was praying for my dear sisters this morning on this thread and crying out to the Lord over my own pain, He put this poem on my heart to share with you.....

THE THORN

I stood a mendicant (beggar) of God
Before His royal throne.
And begged Him for
One priceless gift
Which I would call my own.
I took the gift from out His hand
But as I would depart
I cried, “But Lord, this is a thorn!
And it has pierced my heart!
This is a strange and hurtful gift
Which Thou hast given me.”
He said, “My child, I give good gifts
And I gave My best to thee.”
I took it home, and though at first
The cruel thorn hurt sore.
As long years passed, I learned at last
To love it more and more.
I learned He never gives a thorn
Without this added grace:
He takes the thorn to pin aside
The veil, which hides His face.

Elizabeth Elliot read this poem at a women’s conference in Grass Valley, California. The original author is unknown.

Nothing selfish about needing prayer, Focusing. True selfishness is thinking we can do WITHOUT it.

And I'm not sure about your need to be strong. Be REAL. We do grieve! Mourn with those who are mourning. Jesus did. Bless ya and my prayers go with you, LL

Amen, Cherished! It takes one who knows the beauty of the thorn. As Balilea Schlink said (in my words of remembrance), "Everything God does is love whether we receive it as love or not." Bless you dear sister!

That pierces my heart now...

I know I have mentioned this on a number of ocassions, but Hubby and I are facing a very difficult situation and some days it becomes overwhelming. It has been difficult since August of last year and at the moment there is no end in sight. I know the Lord is teaching us to 'walk by faith' and not by feelings (or sight) but at times it is very difficult. From a worldy point of view - the situation looks very grim. I cannot disclose too much via the Internet but as I have said before in previous posts - the Lord knows.

The one thing I will say is that I am learning to do as David did and 'encourage myself in the Lord'.

I do want to thank God for the precious and priceless lessons He is teaching me by His Holy Spirit. Also, I thank God that He is bigger than government organisations, large establishments or other authorities. I praise Him that He can move mountains and perform great wonders - great is His faithfulness - thankfully His mercies are new every morning. Also, God will not allow those who trust in Him to be moved.

I also thank God for the many encouraging brothers and sisters on this site and for other Godly friends who are faithful in prayer. Thank You Father.

Little_1, this is the verse that came to my mind as I read your post.

Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

I don't know if it makes since for what you are going through, but I thought I would share it. I am praying for you.

Thank you Sparkleingsnow - I really appreciate you.

Yes - Psalm 23:1 is very relevant. We shall not want because He will provide a way where there seems to be no way and will meet our needs. God will not abandon His children.

Lightshineon - you are still very much in my thoughts at the moment. I look at your picture and I ask God to help you and strengthen your faith. A thought that has been coming into my mind thinking about yourself and our own situation and that though is that God is 'growing our faith'.

I can imagine a little deer climbing up a mountain. It is only a delicate little creature and yet it is so sure footed as it scales and reaches new heights on this steep mountainside. I pray that God will help you to be like this little deer. Sure footed and reaching higher ground - a beautiful picture. This little deer looks backwards every so often and this reminds me that we too need to look back at what God has done in our lives in the past and encourage ourselves knowing that God will not let us down and this will help us to move on in our faith. However, this little deer wants to press on upwards because it knows there is much good further up the mountain. It is an anxious time but the little deer keeps going steadily.

I have never had this happen before Lightshineon but the little deer is so clear in my mind when I have been thinking about you this evening. I picture it as being a little afraid and anxious but it does not need to be. It is moving in the right direction and this is my prayer for you. That you keep on keeping on, looking up and scaling new heights in God in whatever your circumstances.

I Can Do All Things In Him Who Strengthens Me.

The long awaited rains
Have fallen hard upon the thirst ground
And carved their way to where
The wild and rushing river can be found
And like the rains
I have been carried here to where the river flows, yeah
My heart is racihng and my knee are weak
As I walk to the edge
I know there is not turning back
Once my feet have left the ledge
And in the rush I hear a voice
That’s telling me it’s time
to take the leap of faith
So here I go
