It would seem to me that the question is inappropriate.

We are told that we are not to judge, and there is much discussion about what that means concerning discernment. But here we are talking about the man's eternal destiny as if it were up to us to properly discern it based upon the constructs of theology that we have chosen to appropriate for ourselves.

This is the essence of what we aren't supposed to do. If we were to take the name of any one of the forum members and start wrestling over the condition of his soul in the same way, it would easily be seen as the judgment we are not supposed to do.

God is the author of salvation, the beginner and finisher of it. There are two reason to have a heuristic to determine if someone is saved. 1. To legalistically judge him. 2. To excuse yourself from witnessing to him under the presumption that he is saved.

Notice that we are allowed to share Christ with other believers, and if they are saved they will say "Praise the Lord!"

Just my humble opinion...

Here are a couple of good bible lesson on the Samaritans obeying the gospel and the Ethiopian obeying the gospel in (Acts 8). If Simon was not a Christian then neither were those Samaritans Christians,for they done what Simon did. And Simon done what the Samaritans did.

Gee, I dunno. Simon's bad example is for us to learn from. Asking ourselves if he were really saved is part of the learning process for us.

If we were talking about a forum member, we have CW's Terms of Service to contend with. Further, we simply can't even know if we have our facts straight because our alleged "facts" aren't inspired scripture.

Since you can't get a definitive answer, it is not likely that his eternal condition has much to do with the lessons that can be learned about his bad behavior and motivation.

I doubt you are saying that CW's terms of Service are more authoritative than scripture. I also doubt that you would imply that if we have all the facts straight about someone, that then we can judge their eternal destiny.

So I guess I am with you on that....
