most of the states I think are now 21...when I was in high school though LA was 18 and most kids just went across the river to PA from TX on the weekends to do their drinking. They changed the drinking age when I was in high school though and I think now it is 21 like most other states

Thanks pbaribeault - I didn't know it was 18 in Alberta. I knew that each province set the limit, but I thought they all put it at 19. I remember being in the US with my mom when I was 19. I ordered a drink at the restaurant, and the waiter asked for id. So I handed it over, not even thinking, and he looked at me like I was crazy. My mom told him it was ok with her if I have a drink since it's legal in our country, but the guy wouldn't budge (we didn't expect him to, we were just having some fun with him!)

I guess I must be really dense, because I still do not understand. Why would you not allow minor child to remain in the home, etc.,etc..

Why would you not allow minor child to remain in the home, etc.,etc.. No one has voted that they would not allow a minor child to remain in the home. I stated that I would only remove a minor child from my home if their behavior was dangerous to my other children or my husband and I, and only then if there was an appropriate out-of-home placement for them. They'd have to have major issues that were not able to be dealt with in the home before I would kick a minor out.

Crime. I let mine know that if they EVER got involved with gangs, stealing, drugs, etc., they would be off to military boarding school when they got out of jail. AND I would not bail them out. I meant it, too.

Sounds reasonable. Some kids do need placement in residential treatment facilities, but I do not consider that kicking them out. I mean, you would still visit them and welcome them home for holidays, etc. right? Your support for them to grow in the Lord would not end because they needed residential treatment, right? The goal would still be reconciliation and godly living?
