Even though he has been in the Charismania game for some time, Morris is still greatly revered by the Latter Rain/Word of Faith/Manifest God, Elijah Company (etc) crowd. Mr. Cerullo is a false prophet and false teacher. He is misleading a multitude of biblically challenged charismatic’s and as such is a danger to the spiritual welfare of the Christian Church. Pray for this man and those who’ve been deluded into following his teachings and prophecies. quote:
". . .God is releasing what I believe is the last great anointing upon His Church. God is going to have a people in this end time hour! His hand will be strong upon them. His glory will cover them. They will operate on a new level and new spiritual dimension that will enable them to supersede every natural limitation." Global Prayer Covering Prayer Watch Volume 2, November 1998 Does he not realize that the term 'anointing', for us New Testament believers (you and I), has only two meanings: (1) is when it is used to describe the Anointed One, which is Jesus Christ and (2) when it is used to describe all born-again believers. But here, in classic Charismatic fashion, he is stretching the term to mean something it absolutely does not, absolutely does not have any basis in Scripture. Morris would have you believe that God is going to have a "people" within the Church that will be in a place spiritually to receive this last great anointing. What will this mystical mojo-power enable them to do? They will operate on a new level They will operate on a new spiritual dimension which will -enable them to supersede EVERY natural limitation What level are they "operating" on now? What is the new spiritual dimension? For that matter, what was the old one, and exactly how many "levels" and "spiritual dimensions" are there? Can he (or anyone) cite any biblical texts to prove there are various "levels" and "dimensions" in the spiritual world? NO! The Bible does not detail any such things at all, nor does Mr. Cerullo in his teaching. You can read in great detail about various levels and spiritual dimensions in theosophy and the occult books, not in the Church. Morris believes we will have to pray Jesus back - meaning Jesus cannot return for the second time unless we "pray Him back!". When Morris talks about this "last great anointing" he says: quote:
It is an energizing, global call to prayer that is coming upon the people of God. As a result of this powerful anointing that is coming upon true believers, we will see the end gathering of the greatest harvest that this world has ever known! As sure as I am alive, I believe we will have to pray King Jesus back! Note again the elitist view he holds of himself and those deluded enough to follow him - they are the true believers, which makes all of us who question his teachings "make-believers" or possibly "unbelievers." Which he also says all true believers will overcome all natural limitations, along with that he also upholds the wrong-headed belief in a worldwide revival & soul-gathering harvest! Yet the New Testament indicates no such thing. In fact, the NT shows us exactly the opposite occurring in the last days. Does he cite any biblical texts at all to validate this "last great anointing"? NO! Does he cite any biblical evidence that the Church must pray Jesus back? NO! He simply makes these outrageous statements with no support whatsoever from the Bible. It is enough that Morris Cerullo, a self-appointed "prophet" of God, has said this is the way it is. What is even sadder than his absurd teaching is that tens of thousands of charismatic Christians believe what he writes is absolutely true! In fact, this thread will get several posts from angry charismatic’s because I have dared to "touch" God’s anointed and question the word of His "prophet." My PM box will be over-flowing.... To really kick start this discussion, let's finish with a collection of Morris Cerullo's most shocking statements: quote:
"Did you know that from the beginning of time the whole purpose of God was to reproduce Himself?...And when we stand up here, brother, you're not looking at Morris Cerullo; you're looking at God. You're looking at Jesus" (Morris Cerullo, "The End Time Manifestation of the Sons of God," Morris Cerullo World Evangelism tape 1.) quote:
"You represent all that God is and all that God has...Jesus was the visible expression of God. Jesus was the Son of the Living God. Now, who are you? Sons of God…everyone say it. What is working inside of us is the manifestation. When you look at me, you are looking at Jesus…To see Jesus was to see God. To see me is to see Jesus. Jesus knew who He was. Don’t you think it is about time we know who we are?" ("Joel’s Army," Jewel van der Merwe, Discernment Ministries) Morris Cerullo claims he was led out of a Jewish orphanage by two angelic beings; transported to heaven for a face-to-face meeting with God; and told he would be capable of revealing the future. (Cerullo, The Miracle Book, ix; and 7 Point Outreach -- World Evangelism and You (pamphlet), 4.; Cerullo, The Miracle Book, xi.; "God's Faithful, Anointed Servant, Morris Cerullo.") Claiming that God was directly speaking through him, Morris Cerullo blasphemously proclaimed quote:
"Would you surrender your pocketbooks unto Me, saith God, and let me be the Lord of your pocketbooks....Yea, so be thou obedient unto my voice." (Morris Cerullo, "A Word from God at the Deeper Life World Conference," Deeper Life, March 1982, 15.) quote:
"God's Victorious Army Financial Breakthrough Spiritual Warfare Bible. This Bible is the definitive word on finances, with special icons designed to lead you throughout God's Word, teaching you about Biblical finances. This beautiful, genuine bonded-leather Bible has more than 2,000 pages, chock full of financial breakthrough principles and spiritual commentaries honed from Morris Cerullo's fifty years of experience serving the Savior ... THIS INCREDIBLE BIBLE CAN BE YOURS FOR A LOVE GIFT OF ONLY $89 OR MORE." Doctrinal Issues/Claims 1. He claims to have been ESCORTED BY TWO ANGELS from an orphanage when he was fourteen years old. 2. He claims to have been TRANSPORTED TO HEAVEN by two angels. 3. He claims to have MET GOD IN HEAVEN and was told by Him that he would be able to REVEAL THE FUTURE. 4. He claims that HE IS A PROPHET of God, even though he presents no credentials and the Bible teaches that the Office of Prophet no longer exist. 5. He claims that there is CONTINUING REVELATION from God which is conveyed by God directly to him, even though the Bible teaches that revelation ended with Jesus Christ and the apostles.. 6. He claims that in looking at himself, PEOPLE SEE GOD. 7. He claims that HE CAN HEAL, even though he has never healed a visible disease or deformity such as a missing arm or Down's syndrome individual. 8. He claims that God wants every Christian to be HEALTHY AND WEALTHY. False prophecies of Morris Cerullo Prophecy claimed to have been received from God in September 1989: quote:
"Take up your pen and write. I want you to warn my people. There are 5 major crises that are coming in the next decade of destiny, the 1990's." "The world will be experiencing the greatest economic turmoil in the history of humanity." ". . . one of the greatest crises we have ever experienced." "It will be an incredible financial crisis and it's going to plunge the world into a state of great turmoil and perplexity." "We're going to see in this decade a complete collapse of the present worldwide monetary system." "It will make the Wall Street crash of 1929 seem like a picnic. "And that crisis will come before the year 1994." Morris Cerullo, 5 Great Crises, Morris Cerullo Ministries cassette tape, 1989. "Morris Cerullo's prophecies failed on all counts. There was no world-wide monetary collapse before 1994 that was even close to that of 1929, let alone one that was so great that it would make 1929 "look like a picnic." Morris Cerullo prophesied falsely and is judged and declared a false prophet by the standard of the Scripture. Not only did Morris Cerullo prophesy falsely, he was the only one in the entire world who received the revelation, because God apparently neglected to inform every other Christian minister about the coming disaster. Who has the greater authority; the false prophet or the Scripture? Those who continue to accept Morris Cerullo as a prophet are undiscerning and deceive themselves, which will inevitably result in deception by others.
