In 1988 Dennis Hopper released "Colors", a movie about the gangs in LA (South Central and ELA). After I saw it in the theatres I knew that this was going to contribute to an upsurge in gangs. They made it look so cool to be in a gang. Having grown up in the ELA area I wasn't too happy with the tone of the movie. After all, that's the only expression of culture for poor minority kids, right?

If you think Alicia Keyes' conspiracy theories may be out of whack, try checking out French actress Marion Cotillard's* views on 9-11 and the moon landing! I might even jump start this thread idea on Conspiracy Central...

I looove Alicia Keys, in fact I'll be seeing her in concert.
But why did she have to open her mouth?
Up until now she had been smart and kept those ridiculous thoughts to herself.
What is wrong with celebrities? They are all a bunch of kooks! (is that a word?)

Personally speaking, I could almost agree with Keyes: key words; almost.
I've been opining that in many ways, gangsta rap could actually service the proverbial "Man," much in the same way as say, slavery and segregation--only more subversively. By dressing up old school injustices as "urban expression," never mind the fact that a lot has changed since Biggie and Tupac expired--maybe earlier than that, it seems all of the bombastic posturing about "street cred" no longer is about the horrors of the street. Instead, it's all about the bling, and the cutthroat means to obtain it all, sort of like that opening battle royale scene in Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man, except with more modern methods of slaughter, i.e. Kalashnikov rifles, TEC-9's.
And given how much then, and maybe still now, that the greater rap industry is financed, if not still owned by white entertainment corporations, it kind of begs the question how much of what constitutes urban expression today, is really about urban living--much less if it's really being creatively controlled by anyone from the urban areas! Seriously...

I not familiar with Alicia Keyes...but she maybe right about the gov playing a part in this...not wanting another black leader...there is evidence that Martin Luther King was murdered by the CIA...and that I can't think of his name...the one they sent to prison for murdering MLK was a Patsy like Oswald was...in fact..MLK's family didnt' believe he did it and even visited him in prison a few years ago. The CIA is very racist and when Operation Paperclip took place(where our gov. brought nazi scientists over from Germany after WWII to work for our government...some were brought in the CIA...There is a shadowy occultic secret government that believes in social darwinism..that anyone nonwhite is inferior and that 'the aryan race' is the original 'super' race...a belife that was also in Theosophy, Madama Blavatsky's new age beliefs...(she is an early new ager in the 1800's and from a russian royal family...many in high places..are in in the occult and believe these racist beliefs.
