StephtheJCFREAK -> youth band (4/14/2008 7:09:16 PM)

I'm starting a band in for my youth group, but I have no idea what to name it.
I've thought of some names, here are a few:
God Thing
Empty Cross
Blood Stains

Tell me which ones that you like and it would help me alot.

Out of those three, I'd choose "Blood Stains."

But that's just me, I like names like that.

I had thought of one, Ugly Cow, but it was a joke.

What type of band?

StephtheJCFREAK -> RE: youth band (4/14/2008 7:42:57 PM)

well, kinda Rock, basically what I can play on the guitar. (the drummer picks up beats by listening)

Blood Stains sounds very metal like. There are similarly named bands out there. I don't know if that one is taken.

Doing a quick myspace music search showed me there is a metal band called Empty Cross as well.

Speaking from a Youth Minister's point of view, i'm not sure if "Blood Stains" is the best one to go with. Not that it's not a good name, I can just imagine if my youth band's name was Blood Stains I wouldn't be Youth Minister for much longer. [:D]

I do like Empty Cross though, the symbolism of Jesus no longer being on the cross, and singing/praising because of that sounds very good.

RHardin15 -> RE: youth band (4/15/2008 8:37:15 AM)

We named our praise band "Lost in Grace" haha... get it... especially cuz I always tell my mom that she's Lost in Space being as ditzy as she is (She sings in it). Lost in Grace logo

I like Blood Stains alot for a Christian Metal group, but I'm not so sure that a youth band should be called that. Empty Cross seems like a good fit

You guys remember Barren Cross? That's what that name reminds me of.

hawknelsonismyfriend -> RE: youth band (4/15/2008 1:14:24 PM)

I would name it... "-Insert Name- Band" if its a worship band. Think David Crowder Band, Chris White Band, Daniel Doss Band, etc.

or you could just rip off the Christian band name "Living Sacrifice". They aren't a band anymore.

I am stuck in a youth group with 4 other kids b sides me and muh daddy is da youth minister right now we have nothing but i sing and play guitar and we have a bass player in our midst soo we are heading in that direction but 4 now its me & muh guitar but "our" name is Scarlet Heart !!!

That's the most unoriginal idea ever. When I was in Middle/High School, our youth group's praise band was "Chris Sligh Band" for a long time. Then they stopped playing in our Church and called themselves Half Past Forever and led music at another Church. Since then, the lead singer, has been on American Idol and the rest is history.

Point is, that's unorginal. Not like it really matters though. Personally, I never even look at the praise band in my Church because I'm immersed in worship. I like it that way.

1love1God1way -> RE: youth band (4/15/2008 3:38:20 PM)

Well, I don't think praise and worship bands need a name. . . the points is not about the music or the musicians.

For a rock band, then yes. But, as I mentioned, Blood Stain is a really metal sounding name, and Empty Cross is already a name in use (who also happens to be a metal band).

I would recommend keep thinking, and come up with something really original that doesn't just sound cool, but fits who you are.

Just because they aren't a band anymore doesn't make ripping off their name a very moral or ethical decision.

Plus, it's just super lame.

no kidding. especially since living sacrifice is a pretty big band to begin with. i mean, no one's going to try and steal audio adrenaline or dc talk (i hope).
sorry, cant think of any names. good luck though

GodSoldier1 -> RE: youth band (4/16/2008 4:40:55 PM)

hawknelsonismyfriend -> RE: youth band (4/16/2008 5:05:33 PM)

You could try "Crown of Thorns". But I don't know if that's taken.

1love1God1way -> RE: youth band (4/17/2008 11:46:57 AM)

I have for a long time wanted to have a band named "Moyamoya."

It is Japanese for "a puff of smoke."

It is also a rare disease. . . but, you know, you win some, you lose some.

StephtheJCFREAK -> RE: youth band (4/19/2008 1:20:28 PM)

Yeah, I think I'm going w/ empty cross. I think it's the best.
Blood Stains was a good name, but we're not metal.
