HEre's a capri question: should you wear sneakers with socks with capri's. My mom wears longer capris and I think it looks silly because she only has about 2 inches between her socks and her pants. It looks like too short pants but if she were to wear them with sandles or something they would look fine. Is it just me or is there a "rule" on this

She probably has cropped pants instead of capris and if that's the case, she should only wear sandals or a flat casual shoe (some platform is okay) (IMO)

If they are indeed capris - then hem them to mid-calf so they look like capris:
sneakers, no socks (and I mean the trendier looking sneaks, not necessarily running shoes)
sandals
platforms are good on shoes
I'm not overly fond of high heels with capris, but to each his own

I would only wear light looking tennis shoes w/ no show socks (or w/o socks) with capris if tennis shoes must be worn. I saw an elderly lady this weekend with capris, socks, and running shoes. There was about 1 inch of her leg showing- Bless her heart!

I prefer sandals and light, feminine shoes with capris. I'm OK with high heels w/ capris.

One shoe that looks so funny with capris is a boot- especially an ankle boot. I think that look was invented to measure how many women will follow a trend even when it looks silly.

I like heels with the very dressy capris, too. A couple of mine are a nice satiny fabric with cuff and they need something dressier than just normal sandals. I only wear them for church anyway.

I think tennis shoes are OK with capris as long as they are ankle socks.

Thank you for saying that Catherine! I was starting to think I was a freak ... while I do wear flip-flops with capris at times, most of the time I'm wearing my running shoes and ankle socks ... I have orthotic inserts for my shoes, so if I don't wear the running shoes for a good portion of the day, I can barely walk come nightfall!

I'm 5'7 and I have yet to find capris made for curvy women that are short enough to not make me look stubby. Maybe it's my body type...

Anyway, after being (playfully)harassed by the "stylish" crowd for my wear of capris I have switched to skirts. They are much cuter and suit my body better.

you mean capri's aren't stylish anymore? I wear them a lot, I am 5'2". It depends on how short or long they are, and also the style - do they flair a little, straight, or tapered. Sometimes they do make me look a little stubbier, it may also depend on my footwear too. I have a longer torso and short legs, so I need anything I can to make my legs look longer - usually longer capris work best.

I'm 5'1" and I wear capris. They're probably a little longer on me than the taller women, but it's okay. I love having my ankles hanging out there!
