I really want to meet him!

He's gonna have to pass Matt's inspection though. . .he's determined not to let his sister-in-law marry just any old yahoo.

From what you've described though, he shouldn't have any trouble.

I am so incredibly uncomfortable today! I feel like my stomach has gotten heavier overnight! It hurts to sit, it hurts to stand. . .the only position I'm truly comfortable in is laying on my side on my wonderful maternity pillow!

*sigh* 2 more weeks. . .I can do this.

Almost there, Emily! And the things you mention are signs of the end...remember that instead of focusing on how miserable it is! Did the doctor say if the baby has engaged yet?

I don't know if he actually said she was engaged. . .it was more like "hmm, feels like she's down there pretty good". My doctor has an annoying way of making vague statements like that. LOL! I'll be sure to ask him for sure at my appointment on Friday.

My dr was the same way!! It's like, come on doc, give me some sort of sign of how things are gonna go! (but of course it's not like he's looking into his crystal ball either

LOL! Yeah, and I'm guessing he's probably used to working with patients who don't know the technical terms for stuff. . .so he probably thinks "she's down there pretty good" is more helpful than "your baby's head is engaged". But for me it doesn't really tell me anything specific and is therefore annoying.

He doesn't even use the term "effacement" he just says I'm 80% "thinned out". LOL

I learned that the less I knew the better off I was. I started dialating early with my second one and kept being told "any day now." After three weeks of that and being completely miserable I about went nuts. It could be that he doesn't want to frustrate moms just in case there still a bit of a wait.

Yeah, that would get frustrating if he got my hopes up like that and then nothing happened. So far he's been very noncomittal about trying to estimate the timing of anything. His mantra is "you've still got some time left, be patient".

Which is exactly what my darling hubby keeps telling me. LOL! I know it's for my own sanity.

What does the mucous plug look like? Does it generally come out all in one glob, or could it look more like thick yellowish strings of mucous that comes out over several days? 'Cause I've noticed the latter over the last two days. Also, if there's no blood does that mean it's not the mucous plug? 'Cause I read where it's sometimes referred to as "bloody show" and I haven't seen any blood at all.

I had that gross mucus-y mess your refering to as I got closer with Luke (he's the only one I went into natural labor with, the other two were induced because of my blood pressure). It sounds like you're definitely getting closer! With Luke I did have the traditional definition of "bloody show" also, but that wasn't until I was in the hospital and getting pretty far along with things.

Mine usually comes out over a couple days, and is thick and stringy like you describe. As time goes on, it gets brown (old blood) streaks in it, but it doesn't usually turn reddish (new blood) until I am very close to labor.

Spend time with hubby, as much as you can. It'll help knock the plug out completely and you'll soon be on your way! I usually go into labor within a few days of starting to lose the plug.

Towards the end that was the one request of I could make of Will without him without him rolling his eyes at me. Just don't describe as "help me remove my mucous plug." Guys may not be much on romance, but even that request is too much for them

Not yet.

I'm not even really having many contractions today. . .just aches and cramps.

My 38 week appointment is this afternoon (even though I was technically 38 weeks on Wednesday), so I'll be sure to update y'all later this evening.

I just realized I never gave an update like I promised! Of course I'm sure some of you will rush over here when you see my post thinking I have exciting news. . .but no. LOL! I am dialated a little more (about 1.5 centimeters), and I had a lot of contractions last night, but nothing closer together than 8-10 minutes. I'm sure I could still easily make it until my due date.

Ok, I was a dummy yesterday and totally overdid it. We spent all day working on getting the office converted into a space for the baby. . .so I did a lot of sitting on the floor, getting up and down, bending, even put some furniture together. By 7:00 my back hurt so bad I could barely walk! It was excruciating! Not to mention I was having a lot of contractions at the same time which made it doubly uncomfortable. Eventually I realized it wasn't going to get any better unless I stopped. So I took a long hot shower and then sat in my chair with my rice bag on my back for a while and then just went to bed. I feel a lot better this morning, but my whole lower back is still really tender.
