The Lie Everyone goes to Heaven unless they've done really bad stuff like murder. The Truth All of us have committed murder in our hearts at least once. The Lie A just God would not send anyone to hell because He loves His creation. The Truth A just God will send people to hell because He loves His creation.

Oh man! There are so many: The Lie: All Christians are required to have a covering over them. (i.e. a pastor, elder, church or church leader.) The Truth: I discovered that nowhere in scripture does one man ever "cover" another. God IS our covering and there is no mediator between us other than Jesus Christ Himself.

Lie: Christians always tell the truth and you can trust them Truth: For all have sinned and even continue to do so. Christian does not = truthful

Boy was I in for a major reality check! And that one hurt for a long time!

Thanks to certain artist renderings, when I was about 5 years old, I really believed I would see angels (chubby nekkid babies with halos and wings) playing their harps on top of the clouds when I flew in an airplane. I believed all angels were like chubby nekkid babies with curly blonde hair. To my utter disappointment, I did not see any chubby nekkid blonde headed babies with wings sitting on top of the clouds playing their harps when we flew in an airplane from Japan to the U.S. When I grew a bit older, and I started reading the Bible, I found out that nowhere in the Bible does it mention anything about angels looking like babies or that they were fat and that they play harps on top of clouds.

LOL!! I have participated in a Bible study lately that focused on the OT tabernacle-- so cool as it forshadows Christ. Both in the building of the tabernacle and the description of the exile from the Garden of Eden are descriptions of cherubim that both guard and protect. These are NOT "nekkid" harp-strumming babies, are they! They are not to be trifled with! I was surprised, too.

Lie: Speaking of Angels, I have seen so many (female) "Lady Angels," on statues, cards, pictures, etc. Truth: I was surprised to one day read a tract about Angels. It said that in the Bible, Angels are always described as MALE.

Lie: That I could figure everything out by myself, because I knew what was best for me. Truth: That by sheer effort of will I could make "good" things happen, but like the house built on sand, they were eventually destroyed because they weren't built upon the foundation of Christ.

That everyone who lives a good life is going to Heaven when they die because the Lord will not turn away a 'good' person! This is the most deceitful thing I have ever been told and I believed it up until 9 days before my 21st birthday when I trusted the Jesus as my Saviour and found that my righteousness is found in Him only.

This is a clarification of what I posted earlier. Lie: If I changed my behavior, I would be righteous. This is based on the idea that behavior is the basic problem. I knew, from scripture, that some of my behaviors were wrong, but didn’t realize it was a deeper problem than simply behavior. Truth: My behavior comes from the condition of my heart. It was my heart that was the problem and my behavior was a gauge of the condition of my heart. If I am using foul language, wearing immodest clothing, reading or viewing inappropriate materials, yelling at the kids, being inconsiderate, etc., etc. it is due to a problem with my heart. Simply trying to stop doing those things isn’t going to make me better. I have to surrender my heart to the Lord so He can change my heart and then my behavior will change as well.

lie: God is a harsh mean, punishing, cruel God who spanketh thee. and that we are supposed to follow a set of rigid rules ... the rules of appearance..... or we might die and go to hell. truth: - God is full of love, and He put that love in my heart when I was ready for it.

Lie: I used to believe that God would always bail me out of my problems in one way or another. Truth: God created Nature and He likes the quote "letting Nature running it's course" and looking back, I'm glad that He did not bail me out. Saying no, did in fact bail me out.

Walker, this is so true. Often times, we think that God didn't answer our prayers when we didn't receive what we asked for. God answers all prayers. He answers a loud "NO" to most of our prayers because they are not good for us. That's His way of bailing us out.

The Lie: That I had to be Baptist and read the KJV bible in order to be saved. How I learned the truth: From God's word, where He states we are to be baptized in one faith and to me that is faith in Jesus Christ. Our God is a Spirit and not a denomination. I use to go to a Baptist church where God confirmed this through the pastor, who clearly stated in a sermon one Sunday: If anyone here believes they are saved because God is Baptist, they are mistaken. He continued God is not Jewish, Pentecostal,Catholic, Episcopailan, etc.... He is A SPIRIT. This truth set me free. I was born and raised Catholic which seems to be a curse when it comes to other believers who hear this. Many believe we are all doomed and don't know how to read the bible for ourselves. Granted many may not, but I certainly did, but unfortunate for me it wasn't the KJV nor was it the Catholic bible. The Lord showed me some truths in my teen years in which is still in my heart. So I suppose I can not post here anymore, seeing how I no longer attend a Baptist church. So it was pleasant and challenging to converse with you, May our Lord bestow blessings upon you Good-bye CRH

Many of us do not attend a Baptist church!
