A clarification...what is "across the board" is NOT that secular music will get into your head and take your focus off Him, but rather the fact that music impacts people differently. It's not the same experience for everyone....across the board. Hope that makes sense.

From experience it may start out as something harmless but believe me, that is all the enemy needs. Before you know it you'll be listening to stuff you never would have dreamed you'd listen to.

I'm not sure it's always a slippery slope...like if you enjoy John Lee Hooker, you will end up listening to Danzig and Marilyn Manson....but I understand the point. Again, it depends on the person.

That's all for now. Have a great day!

Blessings, grace and peace to you.....Ol' Blind Lemon

However, I'm trying to think of which Christian artists would be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame, etc.

P.O.D. would (or should) be one. And have we forgotten a little band name U2?

I think listening to secular bands is okay. I went from listening to secular to christian and now secular and christian. My preference is christian. I do enjoy listening to 50's, 60's and 70's music occasionally. To govern who I listen to I remember to who I belong and my hearts desire is to workship Him. This means for me most of the time putting down secular and hearing christian. That music soothes and calms me like no other music can!!

I wouldn't classify U2 as a Christian band.

(And for the record, I don't think the R&R HoF is all that...I just needed some sort of pinnacle achievement to use in my post.)

I would, but debating that point has been done too many times before in a different thread and I'm not goint to get that started again! So I'm just going to

Really? I know they have some fans and had some creativity going on early in their career but HOF? Not that everyone in there deserves it but while they are a cut above the norm in today's mainstream modern rock scene I just don't see it.

Just so its nothing personal against POD understand that I wouldn't put any of my current faves in there either.

Of course I can't think of any current bands (not counting bands who hit their prime in previous decades like U2 & REM) I would put in the HOF. There might be some underground ones that deserve it but we know how that goes.
