My 10 year reunion was supposed to be last year and I never heard anything about it. I just got an email from one of my classmates, asking for my contact information and stuff, so it sounds like they're planning one for this summer. Good...I'll be hugely pregnant and won't feel fat. If there is a prize for who has the most kids, I'm sure I'll win it too.

Noah has been a crankball the past two days. His glasses are also missing, and I wonder if he is getting headaches or eye strain from it. He claims it's fine, but his eyes are very weak without his glasses, so I'm sure it's bothering him, KWIM? Pray we find them. I don't have money for more and the insurance won't pay for more until June or July, so I'll have to put it on the credit card if we can't find them by this weekend.

Donna, if his bed is against a wall, check there first. I found Mike's glasses there so many times that now it's the first place I look.

Mike got his wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. I'm not sure what time he went to bed last night but he's still sleeping! I went to see if he was still breathing. They think I'm nuts when I do that. Sometimes if I can't tell I'll touch their foot (I do it to linz too) just to see if they are still warm.

I took the medication he was suppose to take at 8 up a while ago and just left it in his room. I don't want to wake him if he is able to sleep through the pain.

I just heard a kitty jump off of something in there (his room is above the computer room) so I hope it wasn't the cat obsessed with water. It loves to just push the cup closer and closer to the edge till it spills. We've watched him do it. It is really annoying. He's linz's cat so her room is the one with the most spills, but that cat seems to be able to find a cup of water no matter where it is.

I did look there, and Brian did also. I made him thoroughly clean his room yesterday, and he still didn't find them. My very rowdy niece and nephew were here the evening they were lost, and I do not find that coincidental.

Hope he doesn't wake up in too much pain, Kath!

that is what I'm worried about, it's been about 12 hours since his last dose.

Exactly. They are 6 and 4. I would not put it past either of them to break them and throw them away without saying anything to anyone. If they are broken and I HAVE them, they can be replaced for free. If I can't find them, I have to buy another pair. I did call and ask BIL last night, and told him to please tell the kids that if something happened to them, they are not in trouble, we just need them back. He seemed offended, but honestly...they were little monsters when they were here the other night. Awful the whole time. And I didn't call him to ask them until we had looked for an entire day, so it's not like that's the first conclusion I jumped to.

Urgh.

Yuck Donna. It sounds like they (the glasses) could be anywhere then. Possibly hidden. So I'm guessing you checked the trash cans....

Mike just woke up and said he is in a lot of pain. :(
He slept 13 hours! I did try to wake him up but he kept saying hm? over an over, so I let him sleep.

I checked the garbage from that day, yes. Unless I missed them...which I guess is possible.

Hope the medicine works quickly for him, Kath! We had to really stay on top of the pain meds when Brian had his teeth removed. It's hard when the medicine makes them sleep so much! But then sleep is good for healing too...

that's what I told mike too. I said if he feels like he is getting tired not to fight it but just sleep.

Do you remember how long he was in pain? The dr said that the third day is usually the worst for pain.

Kath: I'm sorry that your ds is hurting! I hope that he recovers from the pain as quickly as my ds did when he had his removed! My son slept a long time also...he had a hard time shaking the anesthetic.

Donna-Could Noah have left his glasses at school or church?

that certainly could be part of it. The next day after my biopsy I was so weak I couldn't drive Dan to school.

I think it was about two weeks before he could put his dentures in, but remember that he had all his teeth removed. He was out of work for a week and in pain a while after that. I think it was about day three he ended up in the ER from dehydration. Watch out for that too...

Noah didn't leave the house the night they went missing.

oh yes, much more traumatic. I remember when my dad had all his pulled, I was 5.

he just sucked down an can of chicken broth. I know it's high in salt so tomorrow I'll get low sodium. It makes him feel like he's eating something. He might be dipping crackers in it. I told him he can't just eat a cracker, besides his teeth hurt too bad, but he can dip it and make it soggy.

I sure hope you can find those glasses, they are so expensive.

Have you tried making him a smoothie, Kath? I made Brian lots of those and you can put some good filling stuff in them for him. Lisa told me about one with canned ravioli, cream cheese, and enough milk to make it the right thickness. Blend that all up, heat it, and it tastes like lasagna. Kinda. Another one he really liked was vanilla yogurt, chocolate syrup, smooth peanut butter...kind of like a peanut butter cup smoothie. You could put banana in it too if he would like that combination.

Gatorade is good for staying hydrated too. Works better for me than plain water or juice do.

I did buy him gatorade and Larry bought him flavored water with vitamins in it. I never thought about a smoothie, I'll have to check out the thread where they posted their recipes.

E got home from work a little while ago and I asked her which was her worst day for her wisdom teeth. She said none really; she was OK once the pain meds kicked in. She just had laughing gas so no anesthesia to wear off. Oh wait, she said the first day was the worst because I wouldn't let her do anything. She was a bad patient; she reminded me that she ate a bagel the second day and chips the third.

She was 15 when she had it done; I think it's more traumatic the older you get since the roots go deeper. How old is Mike?

I was frustrated with our library this week. Well, actually one person there. My son's class goes to the public library once a week. Over spring break the kids checked out books and they told us he already had two books out that he'd checked out with his class, with no mention of how long they'd been out.

I went into the library last Monday and turned some books in, and had them check my son's library card. Those same two books were out. The person behind the desk started talking about how long they'd been out, and that I needed to let my son know that he'd have to pay for them out of his allowance if he didn't get them turned in.

I felt like the books should be an issue between my son, the library, and the school, and I think normally it would be. The lady there on Monday told me she wasn't there when the kids came in. Anyway, I don't like parenting advice from someone who doesn't know me or my child well either. But I know the books need to go back and I wanted to be sure they weren't lost, so I talked to my son, but I didn't threaten his allowance. He brought the books home on Wednesday.

So tonight I make a special trip to the library to return the book. Which was fine, the kids like to go anyway. When we get the books checked out, I ask about my son's library card. Still those two books out. Somehow we managed to not get them returned. Back to the van. No books. Check the shelves. No books. Come home. Books still here! But the (different) lady tonight was nice. She told me that their due date was April 11. Anyway, we drove them back down, and I feel much better now!

Our library is usually very nice to work with. Well, the children's dept anyway. They sometimes call when you have overdue books, and a lot of times they'll renew books for you without being asked.

He's 17. So far I won't even let him have crackers. I wonder if it would be ok.

Wow, that was a lot of nerve on her part.

Wait, so now I'm confused. They weren't even due for another week?

We don't go to the library anymore. I'm too absentminded and something would always happen so we couldn't get there on the same day of the week so things were always late.

I called the eye place about Noah's glasses and they suggested I call the insurance company directly and ask for an exception to their one pair a year policy. The guy I talked to couldn't authorize it over the phone, but suggested I have them bill the insurance and then if (probably when) it is denied, file an appeal explaining the situation. He said their appeal process is not long or difficult. So then I called the eye place back and asked if they were willing to do that, which they are. We can even have the glasses still while we are working on the appeal, so that's good. Obviously, if the appeal doesn't pan out, we'll still have to pay, but I think we should at least try to get them to pay. They also have a $99 special right now for certain frames and the standard lenses are included in that, so if we do have to pay, it won't be terrible, I guess.

What are the chances we go through all this and then his glasses appear? That is so how my life goes. LOL I guess then he'll have an extra pair, huh? That's not a bad thing, so long as his prescription doesn't change anytime soon.

Jacob just got glasses a year ago ... and we made sure to go during one of those 2 for 1 promos, as he is VERY absentminded and clumsy! Well, BOTH pairs ended up being left at grandparents house, so we got a 3rd pair at Walmart ... so now he rotates them -- sometimes several times per day, as he always seems to stick his fingers in his mouth and then pushes up his glasses via the lenses ... so I'm always having to clean them so he can SEE!!!!

Noah had his glasses for a week or so when Nick punched him right square in the eye and mangled them. Noah had a black eye on our vacation and Nick had a sore bottom.

Donna, on the glasses front. That is so frustrating!!!

J is on his second pair. He lost the first ones. Then one day he misplaced the second pair. And all within the first month or so of him having them. They were found in the middle of the playground where they'd fallen out of his pocket, just laying on the ground. If I'd had to replace that pair again it would have brought the value of the glasses up to $900 by the third pair.

I explained that to J and explained that if that happened I'd be sending him out into the neighbourhood with a sign saying that he had been responsible for losing his second pair and that his Mum and Dad couldn't afford a third, asking to do odd jobs (I would have gone with him for safety) as I refused to keep paying for his lack of care.

His glasses have stayed firmly fixed to his head ever since. I guess the message sank in.

This is a good reminder for me that J is due to go back for an eye check though.

Kath, sorry your poor son is having a hard time after having his teeth out. I hope he starts to feel better soon.

Kylie

Kath, hope your son is feeling better and will soon be fine. I haven't had to deal with wisdom teeth, but I imagine it would be tough.

Donna, glad you will be able to have the glasses while everything else gets worked out (hopefully).
