Hey Nicole!

No... I hurt my knee once when I was 11 (fell on ice) and when I was 14 I was playing soccer and my knee cap ended up on the side of my knee. Ever since my knee bothers me, especially when it gets humid and/or cold outside. It gets so stiff and hurts to bend after a while. And then throbs all night long. And then because I walk weird on that side my hip starts hurting really badly too.

Biking should help by strengthening that knee. I am hoping that by the end of Summer my knee will be stronger and I won't have so many problems with it.

YAY!!
My little sister who has OCD (its not that bad though) is here for 2 nights, my dad and stepmum think I won't be able to handle her, all she needs is someone to take an interest in her, encourage her, and also set some boundaries!!

How bad is the OCD (if I may ask)?

I'm always interested in stuff like that (which probably shouldn't surprise anyone).

LOL Tamara
Well I am not so sure. I know she likes to wash her hands but not all the time, she just washes them really well. She likes to have her appearance real neat, she has this ritual with her pillows on her bed at night. I think she gets my stepmum to do her makeup and wash her hair, so she is going to have to get over that one while she is here.

Hello Ladies,

I thought I'd pop in, although I've had a looong day at work & am barely coherent at this point. Yeah, I'm spoiled, but I really do not like 12 hour days!

Nicole (CA), phooey on sore knees. They're no fun at all. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, though.

Nicole (AU), good to see you! How is your sister doing? Is she getting any help with her OCD?

Tamara, I know you don't want to be mean to your friend, but she's obviously the sort of person who will just suck up your time, and you won't really be doing anything constructive for her, just helping her to avoid her work, KWIM? Since she doesn't take hints, and she doesn't think you're entitled to spend your time in the want you want/need to, because then she won't have anyone to amuse her, it's probably going to be necessary to be very firm, unfortunately. It doesn't sound as if she's going away on her own any time soon.

((Roberta)) - I'm glad you were able to get this out in the open, so that you can start to get the help and support you'll need to deal with it.

That was a very, very brave post. It must have been extremely difficult for you to write and post that.

Well, I'm off to sleep quite soon, so I shall say good night.

We may go thursday and try few other trails there, its nice because they are only 20mins from where I live. Im suprised though... Im not really that sore lol but my back is killing me... I also think I must have slept weird which helped add to yesterdays pain so now ugh..hurts

Good morning ladies!

Those of you who read the prayer thread probably read that my boss' brother died yesterday. I have to do a retraction (I'll probably just delete the post). He hasn't passed on, but the drs. say that he will die any minute now. The lady who told me, got the facts confused. The brother's name is Mark and he's not saved. He's in his late 40s and had a massive heart attack last Saturday while playing golf. He has shown no imrovement while in the hospital and has been pretty much in a coma. Yesterday he took a turn for the worse and now they are just trying to decide when to remove the life support.

Meanwhile, I've made a new friend. Her name is Roxy and she's about three years old. She has shiny, curly jet-black hair, average size, enjoys long walks and listens to me talk non-stop while she licks my toes. I'm not sure what she is except that she is of the canine variety and very friendly. I have her until my boss gets back. I am going to miss her when they come to pick her up.

My sister used to wash her hands until they cracked and bled when she was young. Plus, if anything (even water) got on her clothes she would change them. Sometimes she would fill up her hamper with "dirty" clothes in just one day. My mom eventually got fed up so she explained to her that her hands didn't need to be washed non stop and that she was no longer allowed to change her clothes unless they were in fact dirty. That worked! And it made us all happy. I hope you can help your sister out even just a little bit.

Jennifer, my knee is weird cuz one minute it feels great and then it feels like it is going to pop off my leg and starts hurting real bad. ] I felt fine all night until Lorne kept kicking my leg trying to get the dogs off of his feet. It was funny cuz even when I was trying to pick up Ellie he kept kicking me in my sleep so I ended up with a throbbing ankle and hip. Once he left for work I had a much better sleep. As soon as I got up I did a bunch of stretches and now I am feeling much better, but my knee right now is feeling really weird... I hope your back starts to feel better. I am glad that Chan didn't hurt himself.

IT is supposed to warm up a bit today. If it is warm enough we are going to go to the river valley and bike by the zoo. I really want to go biking! If it is windy we won't go cuz that will make it too cold. I am really anxious for Summer to come so we can go biking anytime.

I am so excited! Lorne has friday off because his brother and brother's girlfriend are coming to stay with us for 3 nights. The longest we have ever seen them was for just a few hours so it will be nice visiting with them. I asked Lorne to see if his boss would let him have friday off with very little notice so that I wouldn't be stuck with them all day by myself. I told him to tell his boss that we would both come in next saturday and work for the 8 hours. His boss was more than happy to say yes! He is a great guy! I am looking forward to helping Lorne at work!

I just asked because some people with OCD can't just be told to stop and they stop. Some people can control it but others can't, and I've seen people so bad that they have to be institutionlized. One woman washed her hands til all her skin was gone, AND she still kept on washing -- but it's a real psychiatric disorder; I think for her (hand-washing woman) meds never helper her out. I know more people who have to do the rituals so much that they don't sleep (from having to continuously do the rituals).

An old neighbour had to open and close his car door a certain number of times. And then do the same with his front door everyday after he got home from work. He looked so miserable all the time. I've never known someone with OCD that needed a prescription. That would be such a huge burden.

When I was last hospitalized for my bipolar, there was a woman that had to drink water all the time. She had to drink about a 4 oz glass of water every 10-15 minutes. It was so bad that her medications would get diluted and she would be so full that she'd get sick and couldn't keep anything down. Even at night, she was constantly getting a glass of water.

Well my sister is doing good so far, she is listening to everything I say, got her peeling vegies for tea (had to show her how to do it, 14 yrs old and had no idea ). Taking her out for lunch with my friends teenage daughter (who would be my friend too I guess), she is a lovely girl, got her head on tight for a 16 yr old. So hopefully she can have some good positive influence over my sister. She wanted the light on last night, I said we don't put the light on coz Grace will wake up, so could she just deal with the light from the stereo, she said it was fine and she slept well.
I really don't know what to tell my dad and stepmum, all she needs is some love and encouragement and boundaries. If you expect little of someone that is what they will give you.

I was reading all these posts that said "good morning" - and I almost responded with "good morning" even though it's after 7:00 p.m. here and I'm eating my dinner.

I am sorry so sorry. Wow- thats' my husband's age.

Nicole (AU) - I'm sorry I asked about your sister's condition after you already answered -- the only thing I can think is that we cross-posted, or that I was suffering from early morning ditziness. I'm glad you have her with you, at least temporarily. Setting boundaries when you're dealing with OCD can be a tricky thing, and I can only imagine how much more complex the balance must be when dealing with an OCD-afflicted teenager, who would need firm boundaries anyway. I'm still trying to figure how to do this with an adult -- so I don't know that I'm the best source of advice, though I somehow think I ought to know what I'm doing when it comes to OCD after all this time. I'd echo what Tamara said, though -- a person with OCD will not necessarily be able always to stop doing a particular ritual when instructed to do so. But if your sister is responding to the way you run your house, that's great. It may be that she finds the structure and order of your home reassuring. People with OCD tend to like to structure and predictability. So, that's a good thing.

I hope that the ladies who were stressed out/in pain are feeling better!

After a super-stressful day at work, I had a nice trip to the dentist's and had four lovely fillings taken out and replaced by four fillings that are even lovelier. It really seemed as if that dentist was using a sandblaster in my mouth. And he gave the ouchiest novacaine injections I've ever had. And I have to go back next month and have the same thing done in two additional teeth. Yay!

Well, have a good evening, ladies.

Yup, then it'll be done.

Wow, I'm having issues figuring out the time of day. First I think it's morning while I'm eating my dinner, and then I see that I wrote that my last post was in the morning - when it was actually last night. I am confused all around. I think I will turn in early tonight.

I can't stand waiting for an appointment to come. It gives me too much time to think about how much I would rather not go. I refuse to go back to the dentist unless I just need a cleaning or have a major tooth problem now. The last time I went they messed up a tooth of mine and now it is very sensitive.

Wow, I'm sorry, they actually made things worse? I can see why you don't want to go back there.

I actually realized I must run to the store tonight. Meh, I thought I was done for the day. I'd better get going. Good night!
